  1. Oh no. John McDonough Sucks!
  2. Trade Jones, trade for Andruw Jones, sign Soriano for 2B, sign Zito and Schmidt, trade Murton, Pie, Hill for Manny.
  3. Take your Vermont sweaters and hit the road, pal. Thanks for all the 90+ loss seasons.
  4. Bring back Don Zimmer! Somebody keep this updated please? We Germans can't watch the GN or the CS.
  5. To be honest though, the Marlins don't need that much more in order to compete. They would need a legit power threat to replace Cabrera, and probably another starter or two. I agree though, if anyone could land Cabrera with young talent, it's one of those two teams.
  6. Yep, assuming he's on the market there's only about 3 or 4 teams that have the top tier young talent for him. Exactly. Why would they trade him anyways? He's a sure thing, probably to a safe bet to put up Pujols numbers for the next decade. Yeah he'll be expensive some day, but by then, who knows, maybe the Marlins will be giving out contracts again.
  7. If it took three pitchers to get Pierre, I don't even want to think what they would want for Cabrera. Prior, Hill, Pie and Cedeno? If that is all it would take I'd do it. I think it would take much more than that. Prior will make about as much as Cabrera next year, so I doubt they'd want him in any deal. I would guess they'd want Hill, Pie, Patterson and Veal. I would do it in a second.
  8. If it took three pitchers to get Pierre, I don't even want to think what they would want for Cabrera. Prior, Hill, Pie and Cedeno? If that is all it would take I'd do it. I think it would take much more than that. That's true, Cedeno and his league worst OPS probably wouldn't do much. Maybe Prior, Hill, Pie, Veal, Gallagher, Marshall?
  9. If it took three pitchers to get Pierre, I don't even want to think what they would want for Cabrera. Prior, Hill, Pie and Cedeno?
  10. I don't really agree that we would necessarily be "buying low" on Adam Dunn. There are a lot of GMs in baseball who would love to have Adam Dunn for the same reasons we would. It'll still take a lot to get him. If he was available, don't you think the Red Sox would be after him? Or Oakland? While this season wasn't Dunn's best, it was more or less a typical Dunn season, lots of Ks, low avg, high OBP and Slug%. We would have to give up a ton to get him, and be willing to beat some other clubs with much better farm systems.
  11. If you were running the DRays would you accept that deal? I sure as hell wouldn't. Then again, you don't get too many "Kazmir for V. Zambrano" type offers everyday. The Cubs screwed themselves, because if they were willing to give up three young, solid pitchers (nothing special, but solid arms) for Pierre, now imagine what the DRays could/should ask for, for the immensely more talented/better player in Carl Crawford. They should ask for both Gallagher and one of Pawelek/Veal/Hill/Marhsall. IMO Marshall is a throw in type pitcher. I don't think he's very good. Certainly not as good as Hill.
  12. How much do you think getting those guys would cost?
  13. Erstad is not a damn good player.
  14. The Cubs bench over the past four seasons has been worthless. Famous names like Perez, Macias, Goodwin, Mabry and Bynum are just examples of the completely punchless bench that JH and DFB have had the past few seasons. Hopefully, with the changing of the guard coming soon, the bench doesn't have to be a disaster next year. How would you set up our bench for next year? Theriot Soto Restovich Jeff Cirillo Pagan Craig Wilson
  15. If you were running the DRays would you accept that deal? I sure as hell wouldn't. Seriously! We're talking about the best player on another team. Cedeno's first full season was a disaster, and Mateo/Marshall/Marmol, while promising, are by no means good. Gallagher is someone who would be a better chip, but with some other parts that were safer bets to produce.
  16. Well, he had previous success without walking a lot. He may never have put up a .900 OPS, but he could have easily hit .280 with 25 hr's if left lower in the batting order. In '04 he hit .266/.320/.452 with 24 homers. He did all right under Dusty.
  17. Are you kidding? Crawford would be fixture for the better part of decade. At 25 he's already one of the top outfielders in the game. There is no guarentee that Pie will make it. And he'd have to go a long way to make to the level that Crawford is at already. Crawford is the proverbeal 5-tool player. If Pie does make it the Cubs can move Crawford to either corner position. Preach on, brothaman.
  18. While Dusty may deserve a lot of the blame, its not as if Corey used to walk a lot. Corey's partly to blame.
  19. I've read some things about the Red Sox possibly moving Clement. I read that they would eat some of the cash. If we could get him at, say 4 million, would you go for it? Maybe part of a deal to get Manny?
  20. I agree. I think if we could land someone like Crawford, or Wells, or maybe even Jones, we should explore trading Pie. Think if we could get Crawford and then use Pie and Murton to try to get Manny?
  21. So looks like we were right about those pictures of Dusty.
  22. Boston stopped trying like a month ago.
