  1. I think I read somewhere that he thinks soccer is dumb. Fascist.
  2. [Rozner] Absolutely. He can calculate how many runs Aramis costs the team with his poor defense and lazy running. [/Rozner]
  3. I'd absolutely be burning up the lines to Bradley. This is such a no-brainer.
  4. I'm sure we'll come up with something.
  5. I've mentioned my love fro Greene previously, and even opined that Pie would have to be included. However, I wonder if the Pads would ask for more than just Pie. I also wonder if you might not be able to trade Prior+Cedeno to get a deal like that done. Depending on how much they value Prior, of course. Greene would be a very good asset for the Cubs; both his defense and his hitting are an upgrade from Theriot.
  6. I really, really, really don't like you right now.
  7. Agreed, but I'd like to hang onto Gallegher if possible. Welcome to the forum!
  8. LOL. No kidding. Great way to start the day, bowl of Cheerios and the sports section, where your own GM is making fun of your lack of talent. Probably not the best way to start the day.
  9. Tim, I don't know if you've seen the latest Sullivan article but there is absolutely zero chance that Cedeno starts at SS next year according to Lou. Lou made a statement to the effect that Theriot is "his guy" and that when opening day comes around Theriot will be playing SS. I think Cedeno is as good as gone or will be viewed as a back up next year. I try to avoid Sully as he tends to warp even direct quotes. One thing I saw from Lou was a willingness to play a better performing player. He says that now, but if Cedeno outplays Theriot in the spring I think he'd get a chance. I would agree with that. If Cedeno outplays Theriot, I think he'll get the job. Lou removed the Izturis when he wasn't getting the job done. Off topic, but I keep wondering if the Cubs aren't quietly making DeRosa available.
  10. More walruses please. That really was an awesome lolwalrus.
  11. yet another case of "let's pile on the newbie". you'd think it would get old (but some people just can't help it) rchap's not a newbie. He/she just doesn't post much. i realize that, but people put too much into post count as far as whose opinions they do/don't respect There are many people who have more posts than I do. But I think people respect my opinion, and did even before I was a mod.
  12. Probably not all that close. Anything's gotta go through Angelos, and well, that can take a while. Or it might be completely hosed.
  13. This is why we can't have nice things around here. :( :-k Like what? I've been asking for female "companions" for every poster for a while now... I'm still all in favor of the NSBB Dating Service. ;) Too much of a sausage fest around here for that idea to really take off. Dayton Swim Club.
  14. Sure. Why not? It's a creative way to help the team... which is exactly why the Cubs won't do it, unfortunately. I'm not sure that I'd be that interested in Cabrera. Or Crisp. Or Damon. But, that wouldn't stop me from trying.
  15. shhh...let me hope. Honestly, I think it was more about clearing salary and space than about Ascanio. Though he looks decent - if he can repeat his 2007 minor league numbers. He'll be our 8th righty out of the pen, though. I'm totally fine with the deal, actually, provided the Cubs aren't sending cash to Atlanta, as well.
  16. Different GM now, though. Still from the same organization, though. And, I imagine that Wren listened quite a bit to Schuerholz's philosophies. Nor is Schuerholz gone for good; he's the team president.
  17. I think Hendry undersold on Jones. He ought to have waited until the market settled a bit to move him. One of the teams that lost out on free agent market would have been interested. At his price, he had a greater value than Infante.
  18. Here's a link to his MILB page. His numbers were pretty decent in AA. He gave up 18 walks and 68 hits in 78 innings on the way to a 2.54 ERA. On the other hand, it is the Braves here. When was the last time anyone got a good prospect out of them? Anyone remember Andy Pratt?
  19. Probably. I'd simply take the best players and let their handedness sort itself out. I'm also not Jim Hendry.
  20. I wonder if they'll consider keeping him One would hope so. Given that teams are lining up to trade for him, the logical conclusion is that he's a valuable commodity. But, knowing the Cubs, they'll non-tender him because he doesn't play right field or hit left-handed.
  21. Let us count our blessings that it is not the Cubs who would otherwise suffer with Matsui in the line up. Thank you Astros!
  22. Why would the Padres trade for Prior when they can't even keep Peavy? If Prior's solid (and I think he will be), he's going to get a very good deal.
  23. Or, will Jim sneak up on Cesar first? We need to follow this closely. Closely? I'm not sure this is something I would want to be anywhere near. You're so closeminded.
