  1. It might be. But, there's smoke here -- it's not like these are unfounded. The rumors of negotiations have been confirmed on both sides. It's just taking forever.
  2. I don't know if I buy that Andy MacPhail is asking for Rich Hill. He'd be laughed off the telephone immediately. This smacks to me of the good old expectations game. You leak selected bits of info about how much the Orioles are asking so that when you get fleeced by MacPhail, you can say that you bargained him down significantly. Look, you moved him from Pie/Hill/Gallagher to Marshall/Gallagher/Cedeno! What a great deal.
  3. It's natural to be frustrated since the trade's been long-rumored, yet hasn't come through. Me? I'm amused.
  4. Don't worry, the Mods get paid by the page. Hahahahahaha! Not.
  5. But it's buoyed by ~20 pages of angst-filled posts about the length of the thread. So that makes it all better.
  6. I think the O's management is messing with those O's leakers to mess with our heads. Dizzying, I know. Personally, I want no part of Marshall/Gallagher/Cedeno for Roberts.
  7. How much money are United or Chelsea going to have to offer for Tottenham to give up Berbatov? Tottenham came out today and said that they wont sell Berbatov for less then $30m so I would be shocked if either of them end up with him now. 30!? Maybe if he was English... Btw, MLS just passed a rule that allows teams to sign players in their youth squads without exposing them to the super draft. I'm not sure what this means for the future. On one hand it is a great idea to develop US talent, but on the other hand it continues to widen the gap between the haves and have nots with big clubs who are able to spend much more money on their scouting and player development. Not a lot of incentive to develop players if you have to expose them to a draft if you want to sign them, frankly. A cheap team can let the Red Bulls or the United do the developmental work and draft the rewards. In my opinion, MLS (and US Soccer?) should front a percentage of the youth academy costs for ALL teams -- developing talent is in everyone's interest, no?
  8. Or get sick as is the case with me (and Tim's been under the weather as well). Suffice to say that this thread is under observation.
  9. i didnt make a personal comment i dont even know who im arguing with. And I wasn't referencing any of your comments when I posted this. yeah well it's usually me that you and other mods are referencing, so yeah...this is odd. i need to do something brinoch you suck!!! \:D/

  11. A discussion and disagreement is fine, but the snarkiness I've seen in this thread needs to stop right now. Disagreements need not be personal.
  12. Hmmm. hes attacking the posts, not the posters Calling posts idiots is not acceptable and hasn't been for a long time. It was cute once. It has since been abused repeatedly. Further use will result in warnings, bans, etc.
  13. Helps when every page somebody makes a post asking why this thread is so long. Hmm good point.
  14. He always passes, even though there's no way a jolly fat man on a sleigh can physically *get* to the balls in the hole that he somehow manages to reach. Perhaps there's something about the time-space continuum that messes with the tests, I think.
  15. For some reason I'm picturing a guy laughing as he's making this stuff up. Don't be so cynical. I know who the source is. He has a very credible track record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Mark_Felt%2C_Sr. Well played, sir. Well played. =D> I do think there is something to the O's insiders. I've read that board a lot and their insiders really do have good connections within the organization.
  16. Better 1 thread about it than a debate taking place across 8-10 threads.
  17. Yeah, I've always found that to be rather lame. Prince Fielder's last month in 2007: .333 .478 .733 If Prince Fielder isn't worn out, how can Theriot be worn out late in the season? Can he play SS? There's your answer.
  18. All right folks, the debate about Theriot vs. Cedeno vs. DeRosa vs. Greene vs. Santa Claus has sprawled across several threads. Please move the debate into this thread and keep off topic posts to a minimum.
  19. :-k Gah... he's pretty slight, and he slouches and slumps a bit. He carries himself in a way that, to me, makes him look shorter than he is.
  20. Hill's also taller than he seems. He's 6'5", but for some reason doesn't look that tall. His delivery hides the ball pretty well, and then with his height he also gets that little extra deduction in time to the plate that seems to make a difference.
