  1. Not going to scream, I agree to a point. They are 4-0 against UI, SIU, and Ill St though. So it looks silly for fans of those teams to contantly say how bad IU is. Why? I know SIU isn't that good this year. Illinois is terrible. But I have been very unimpressed with Indiana every time I watch them. It's not just Sampson. A lot of players on Indiana don't have great basketball IQ. To dumb down to Illinois' level is pretty sad. We outdumbed em in the end though!!! unguarded 10 second call from the chosen one??? HA!! We'll dribble it off our knee out of bounds!!
  2. Yeah when IDKWTI hit Pruitt in the face as he went up to shoot. Definitely clean. Gimme a break. Where, pray tell, did I say it was clean? Please, oh please, I beg you, show me where I said that it was clean. (Keep looking... you won't find it since I didn't say that.) I prefer it if you didn't put words into my mouth. Hey, call the foul, by all means -- they certainly weren't shy about it SINCE THEY CALLED THE FOUL. But don't put the whistle in your pocket going the other way. Call it both ways. Pruitt fouled White in the act of shooting. It was as plain as day. You don't see the difference between calling a foul on a 2 foot layup and a 75 foot heave by a center? No. There should be no judgment involved. A foul is a foul is a foul. If the whistle goes in the pocket for the last minute, then it goes in for both teams. Gordon thwacked Pruitt. So, I ask you, did Pruitt foul White? (I do disagree with the call on Ellis at the end of regulation. That was a crappy call.) In fact, I'd say that Gordon's foul was quite smart since Illinois shoots free throws about as well as my dead great-grandmother. Pruitt, on the other hand, stupidly hacked DJ White when there was about zero chance of him making the shot. That's a dumb foul and if Illinois isn't at home, that probably gets called.
  3. I think they can be a good team. And they probably should be a good team. In fact, I'll go so far as to say they that if they ran, you know, an OFFENSE, they'd be a very good team. Sampson is terrible.

  5. IU is lucky Big Ten refs suck cause if they called Gordon for traveling all the times he does, IU would have trouble taking a shot. Glad to see Bilas point that out tonight as Gordon has got away with it in every game Ive seen No argument on the traveling -- except they do call it on him. Regularly. It also is hard to control the ball, etc. when you are getting hacked up. (Focusing on drives here.) I might point out, as well, that the Big Ten refs gift wrapped this game up for Illinois. Twice they gave Illinois foul calls with less than 5 seconds in the game. (If JaMarcus Ellis doesn't miss TWO lay up bunnies in the last 3 minutes of the game, IU wins without OT.) No way can you say they gift wrapped it for U of I. How about the non traveling call at the end of regulation that IU scored on? The refs sucked and U of I cant make a free throw, nothing new. Well, as I watched the game, I saw the refs call fouls on IU with under 5 seconds left -- twice. I call that a gift wrap. (And Pruitt's misses are nullified in my eyes since White and Ellis missed 4 free throws between them with less than 3 minutes in the game). So, if you're gonna call fouls on IU with less than 5 seconds, then call the foul on Pruitt at the end of the game and give DJ his three shots to win it. That was a clear foul. It was so obvious that Bilas was mocking the refs for the non-call. It was blatant. BTW, I'm not arguing the traveling call. He was probably fouled, but not seriously enough to call it. He traveled. And of course we agree that the refs suck. It is unavoidable.

Glad to see Bilas point that out tonight as Gordon has got away with it in every game Ive seen Yeah, the refs gave IU the game. The refs were absolutely horrible for both sides. Read my post again, tell me where I said the refs gave them the game? Brinoch commented on the refs and I replied. You didn't. But Big Ten officials still suck.

  8. Sampson isn't a very good coach.
  9. Love the no-call there at the end on Pruitt. I still hate the Big Ten officials. They suck.
  10. Dempsey might have been half a step offsides when the ball was played. His feet look to be onside, but his head is clearly off, and his shoulder might be off. However, it's very hard to see. I might still have the game in non-HD; I can look tonight. Moreover, because of the flight of the ball, Dempsey gained no advantage by being offsides. By the time he actually played it, he was in an onside position -- not that that matters, of course. Because of the way the play developed, the call is magnified, but I think Dempsey was probably offsides, though it's a really, really, really questionable call. On a play that close, if you're going to call that offsides, you really need to do straight away. Not once the ball is in the net. Dempsey's individual effort made the play, and if he hadn't scored, the ref wouldn't have called it offsides. Which to me means that it shouldn't have been called at all.
  11. He sallies forth from an undisclosed location two times a week to ruin Big Ten games, and yet his lair completely untraceable. My guess is that he was trained by the VC to torment us all.
  12. I really think Spector would have been a fine addition to this team on the right. Certainly, he wouldn't have made gasping boo-boo's like Moor. Why not try Parkhurst on the wing? I also think Marvell Wynne could be the answer (eventually) to one of our problems.
  13. So we're gonna give four basically free players for one with a significant salary? And that one, while providing an upgrade, doesn't address our greatest position of need? No thanks. I'd take Gallagher, Murton, Cedeno, and Veal (or some similar combination) out for a spin to see what I get that would mean SS gets an upgrade. Either that or I'd convert Theriot from SS to GG -- Garden Gnome.
  14. I believe he's Guatemalan. Whatever. It doesn't matter. He was awful. He cost the US two goals and actually called the ridiculous, whiny dives by the Ital... I mean Mexican players. I swear, we need only Canadian or Caribbean refs against Mexico or we get hosed.
  15. I've done more to forwards for less.
  16. Brian Roberts deal was {index finger and thumb an inch apart) this close back in December. Near a month and half later....JUST imagine how much closer they really are. If this continues, they are going to have to rename Xeno's Paradox...
  17. No rickrolls. Please read the board's guidelines -- linked in my sig. Thank you.
  18. If someone wants to give me $700K to practice baseball, watch games, and play every now and again, please feel free.
  19. I forgot all about the work permit potential problems. Appeal!! (Sometimes it works in Worldwide Soccer Manager.) The Top 70 and 75% of competitive matches for the national team is kind of ridiculous for a keeper. This means, of the current team, only Howard can get a British permit. Also, I'm pretty sure that Man U. got Howard in on an appeal. Guzan has 4 caps, is clearly competing with Howard, and will regularly get called up to the US MNT.
  20. Don't lump the fans in with Larry Clisby and the rest of the awful radio crew. But hey, it's nice to know that I'm whiny. Look, you're whining already!! j/k In all seriousness, Purdue fans aren't any worse than any other fan base. Their radio crew, however, is a different story.
  21. I think Purdue is a solid team, and well-coached. It's taken them a little while to gel, but they are coming along very nicely. They are also very underrated and underestimated.
  22. Flowing blonde locks do not lend themselves to grit. In fact, they make old, balding, overweight sportswriters jealous and vindictive. No. White SS do automatically have grit. Along with white point guards (Jason Williams being the exception), white runningbacks and wide receivers. Exactly. And black players are always "blessed with tremendous athletic gifts." I love blatant racial stereotypes which are constantly repeated by virtually every commentator. Seriously, if every "analyst" who spouted this stuff was fired, would this mean I could watch a game without annoying (and offensive) inanities? That would be great.
  23. I truly believe the Purdue fan-base and (in particular) their radio announcers are the whiniest fans in the Big Ten. Regarding "defense" in the Big Ten, I've long believed that one of the reasons that BIg Ten (and Big East) teams often struggle in the NCAA tournament is that the league allows significantly more physical play. I'm not a big fan of conference referees -- the refs should all be NCAA refs and moved around within their regions to all the conferences. I understand that a lot of these guys have other jobs, but a more professional referee corps would be good for all the conferences and for the NCAA. Caveat: I'm an IU-guy. Have been my whole life. My parents went there. I went to school there. I met my wife there. I love IU. That said, I try to be reasonable in my view of other teams, particularly in the Big Ten. Obviously, I love my Hoosiers. (One season after attending the Final Four/National Championship in Atlanta, I began a boycott of IU basketball due to the ineptitude of Mike Davis. I just decided to not waste my time b/c it was too frustrating.) But outside the conference schedule, I root for all BIg Ten teams. Even Purdue.
