  1. According to Andy Katz and ESPN, IU will hire Tom Crean as its next Men's Basketball coach: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3324439 Lon Kruger. Feh.
  2. Who's this Mendenhall guy... isn't it Meddenhall or something? ;)
  3. The line is your team's foundation. Without a solid one, you can't build a decent offense.
  4. Personally, I would really love to see the Cubs come out hot in April. We always seem to start out slow. It's also nice that we aren't playing 9-12 games against the Reds right away when they still foolishly think they have a chance. So, given that, if the Cubs start out hot I don't think we'll see Lou get the heave-ho until August. I pick August 19th.
  5. Unlikely. The course was contradicted on live television by AJ Ratliff. Ellis is a JUCO with one year of eligibility left, he's highly unlikely to go. Bassett I would suspect is unlikely to go, according to what I've heard. Crawford is very possible. Everything depends on the coach they hire, of course.
  6. We need a superlock so that mods can't post in here anymore, either. You're right. Mods shouldn't be able to post in here either. But that would take away our fun!
  7. You've got some pretty stupid priorities. Your [expletive]. Which part of no personal attacks in the Board's guidelines do you not understand?
  8. I do. \:D/ Hypocrite Haha. I don't. :-" A-deleting-we-will-go, a-deleting-we-will-go, hi-ho-the-derrio, a-deleting-we-will-go! :taunt:
  9. No they didn't. It was going to be closed regardless. Have fun!
  10. Hutch claims the Bennett offer is probably not true, but that there is interest on both sides. There is still an awful lot of conversation about Pitino, as well.
  11. You do realize the reason Pearl feel off the face of the Earth was because he made it public hat a recruit told him he was choosing a different school because they offered him money and new SUV. I would say he doesn't like cheaters. Yeah, that's the whole story. You're so unbiased. :)
  12. April 1, 2002, NCAA Championship game, IU vs. Maryland. With 9:52 left in the game, IU led 44-42. I would say that being within 10 in-game minutes of a 6th National Championship game qualifies as close. That they were not expected to get that far is another story entirely.
  13. I agree with Hosak's final point on Pearl -- he's clean. Love him or hate him, he's clean.
  14. That's not really "crap." He's just saying he likes the team's defense, and that's a good thing. This isn't like when Hendry said he wanted to find players who can "catch the ball." I don't see any reason to jump on Lou for this comment. Defense is a huge part of preventing runs. This sounds like something John Madden would say Why? Preventing runs is about defense and pitching. Lots of people overlook the "defense" part of that. Seriously? Others combine the two as part of "defense" and your statement comes out sounding like "run prevention is the key to preventing runs" or "the team who scores the most points will probably win this game." Most people look at defense and pitching as separate things. That's why we have position players and pitchers. Also: Z=A+B Another way to look at it is: Run prevention = Defense + Pitching
  15. Is Cedeno really the only professional baseball player to light up AAA and fizzle in MLB? Really? He hasn't gotten a fair shot to fizzle in MLB. Actually he did in 2006..that being said, he probably was not ready yet, and should deserve at least another shot. Not a fair shot, given that he wasn't ready. Even you concede that he probably wasn't ready yet.
  16. They might very well hire him, but I think his buyout is relatively expensive. I still think Bennett is the prohibitive favorite (ignoring things like he might stick at WSU or go somewhere else... I mean he's the favorite of the IU folks).
  17. That was indeed awesome.
  18. Yes and no. You're right that it's better late than never, but frankly Soriano isn't as valuable as Beltran, Tejada and Guerrero when you compare the contracts and the production levels. The problem is that Hendry got into the top-end free agent game at the wrong time and with the wrong guy.
  19. Boo! This makes too much sense.
  20. I suspect that Belkast doesn't grasp the meaning of the word "brilliant". I suspect Belkast is full of it. A stopped clock has a better record than he does. His "guy" is probably the Oriole equivalent to a janitorial Roast -- a workerbee who finds scratch paper in trash bins he's cleaning.
  21. I'd rather have had Murton-Beltran-Vlad than Soriano-Pie-Fukudome.
  22. Skiles probably isn't among the top coaches being considered. I'd say he's third tier.
  23. There's definitely a log jam in the midfield. It's a nice problem to have, so long as you find a way to get your best 11 on the field. I'd kind of like to experiment a bit to see who that is and how they complement each other. I really like that formation, Wolf, but at least so far Jozy hasn't looked very good as a lone striker. I hope that's just a conditioning and touch issue from the time off. I think you'll see Spector on the bench, too. He, along with DeMerit, are the next best defenders. I'd like this formation in the WC, too: ------------Howard------------- Dolo---Gooch---Boca---Pearce ------------Bradley------------- Clint------Donovan------DMB --------Adu--------Jozy-------- WC Reserves Guzan, Seitz, Edu, Feilhaber, Szetela, Zizzo, Spector, DeMerit, Parkhurst, Bornstein, Ching, Johnson (and if any forwards demonstrate that they are decent, I'd drop Johnson and then Ching).
