  1. Most of us that are complaining about Wood throwing in the bullpen last year, support this team year in and year out, and for some of us (most of us?), Wood throwing in the bullpen in meaningless games was a punch in the face. The great thing about Baseball is anything can happen and a lot of the times does the Cubs weren't flat lining last year when Wood was in the bullpen they were still kicking on Life Support. Remember Wood more than likely would have only miss a start of two in April had he not a host of unforseen issues not related to his surgery. I'll trade two Wood starts in April for a lights out Wood out of the pen when we where still in the race anyday.
  2. I am sure Hendry has contacted the Marlins along with a host other teams only to told he's not on the block ... yet. I think he will moved in the offseason. Lucky for us Hendry and Flordia have been good trading partner the last few years.
  3. Zuleta, Hundley were pretty bad in left field but Canseco might have been the worst.
  4. I fully stand by the choice to have Wood pitch in relief last year. Aftert almost a hundred years of sucking they had to get something out of Wood last year for the money he was paid. Throwing in the towel when Wood could help you out bullpen would have been a punch in the face for those of that support this team year and out. Wood hurt his Knee, his side, and Oscar Acosta's death have all played roles in him not being here to start the season not just the waiting an extra two weeks last season for surgery. Prior wasn't pitching in relief last year had no surgies and is still way behind.
  5. I would like to keep Will Ohman he should flashes of last year that he can be a lights out option from the left side.
  6. Man I am getting really tired of Prior taking so long a shore shoulder should not put him behind whats looking like three months into the season at least.
  7. But Vance, if you give them Pie, who is the Cubs CF for the next generation? Please don't say JP. With both outfield corners locked up for years to come in Cabrera and Murton. A core of Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, Cedeno it shouldn't be hard to find a servicable center field in the future.
  8. Screw that its only the first week of May. Ramirez will get on a tear soon. Wood will pitch well enough to make picking up his option a no doubter. Pierre will get better. Cedeno and Murton are still improving. Barett on his way to a career year. Bullpen is pretty strong considering how stretched its been. 3 upper echelon starting pitchers are gonna be joining are staff in the next month or so along with the return of Derek. This slump might get Dusty fired but it was also be the jump start this team needs. Baseball is a marathon is not a sprint. There a lot of race left here. But come end of June and were still tanking it I reserve the right to come back and edit this post. Just Kidding I still believe they can win a Wild Card and maybe overtake the Cards.
  9. I am not a Baker Basher but with everyone seemingly calling for his head right now who would everyone like to see replace him? Do the coaches go too? Does Rothschild get a free pass?
  10. Reyes is on the 40 man??? Why?? A better question might be, why is Henry Blanco on the roster, and getting paid $1.5 million? He plays once a week and absolutely sucks when he does. You're telling me you can't find a good defensive catcher who can't hit worth a lick for the minimum? Blanco is regared as one of the top defenders in the game and was also brought to work with Zambrano and be Madduxs personal catcher.
  11. Chad Meyers was a pretty fast little guy with no stick he would fit right in on this team.
  12. Who would we replace Dusty with?
  13. I hope I never have to listen to Bob come out of no where with his Diamonbacks storys again and his World Series. He's terrible.
  14. Since Hairstons in the lineup and Perez most likely didn't get dealt why call up another weak hitting middle infielder for a team that badly needs offense?
  15. I also think it's time we give Pie a shot in right field and call up Buck Coats after we find a team to take Jerry Hairston off are hands.
  16. Maddux throws a complete game shutout tonight.
  17. Pie is a pretty goofy looking guy .
  18. This guy had two shoulder operations not just sore spots and food posioning to go with his wicked cold this offseason.
  19. Cedeno would plan 2B, just like the Cubs were planning to do when they sign Furcal. So you're suggesting that Nomar should have replaced Walker and his 1.5 million then. Good luck defending that. Having Ronny and Nomar in the same lineup with Todd's bat off the bench would have been nice.
  20. I think Rusch still has some trade vaule to some pitching thin teams as long as the Cubs eat some of his salry this year. Rusch could be very well turn himself around out of the pen.
  21. please guys stop with the Choi love the guy isn't going to cut it , we should go get Tony Clark. Not overpay for a prospect that never panned out because were still attached to him from his past glory days as a Cubs farmhand.
  22. I thought I heard he was still traveling with the Cards as an instructor this season.
  23. I'm surprized it's taking Wood this long considering he only stopped throwing for a week after knee srugery.
