  1. Was the gun off or does Sean really have the ability to dial it up like that and hit 101? I always thought Sean was a smoke and mirrors guy not a flame thrower.
  2. I disagree he might not be a major league starter unless he adds another pitch but he could be a back end of the bullpen guy. He has a plus fastball and that great curve two pitches are all you really need to suceed out of the pen. Hill's problem has really been his location and leaving balls over the plate. If his control straightens out he might be able to suceed at the major league level as a starter.
  3. greenies were for from illegal and still are not,but are currently banned in baseball...the trainer involved was only asked about a source for these...nothing more regardless of the name under the black ink... Beerman when did greenies become legal? For a legal substance it sure is weird that truckers and biker gangs are the major dealers. I thought for sure Pzfier would jump at that.
  4. hasn't Hill been flat out filthy at Iowa this time around?
  5. There is no chance Pierre would accept arbitration. There is still a team stupid enough to give him a multiyear deal out there. have you seen his numbers? Have you seen that there are still guys like Bowden and Colletti running teams in this league? Colletti has the Dodgers a game out of first place. He might have overspent on Furcal but I give him credit on the signing of Lofton, Muelluer, Nomar, and the trade for Baez.
  6. Two $12+ million free agent signings? I doubt it. That would be a SLG team with no OBP, and the Cubs would be back to the problem of lots of solo homeruns. You'd have to slot Jones over to center and Murton into right to keep at least 2 reasonably priced players on the roster to offset all the big ticket items. In that case Murton is the only realistic leadoff option as everybody but DLee would be a threat for a sub .330 OBP. There will be lot of money coming off the books with Wood either departing or coming back at a reduced rate along with Maddux possibly not returning. The Cubs will have guys like Marshall, Guzman, Hill, Marmol, Gallegher competing for spots in the rotation next season. The Cubs are always pumping new revenue streams into the Cubs and raising ticket prices the money is there and after the Subpar play on the field this year they hopefully will be spending it. Barrett, Lee,Soranio, all get on base at a decent clip and Cedeno should improve with time. The team would feature a lot of power, Speed with a few OBP guys in the lineup. Not every guy on your team needs to be a huge OBP threat.
  7. Jason Stark was on Mike and Mike a little while ago he mentioned that if Grimsley has any kind of evidence it could be very damaging he played for the Indians when they scored a 1000 runs, the Yankee's , the 93 championship Phillies and Baltimore with Palmerio.
  8. Carlos Lee and Soranio would do a long ways to making the Cubs a true contender next season Soranio Lee Lee Ramirez Barrett Cedeno Jones Is a nice offensive unit and maybe Pie steps in next year and plays well. Trouble with that team is who would leadoff?
  9. If Grimsley was a player in the steroid game he might have a long list of names considering he has played for a dozen team or so in his career.
  10. Is there anyone who has fallen because of signability issues that you guys would like to see the Cubs take?
  11. I wish more players would high the fans. It would be pretty cool.
  12. Thats would be a bad deal for the cards maybe it would open the chance that Mudler returns to Chicago this offseason.
  13. baseball america has him as the biggest suprize of the draft so far they had heard he was going to the White Sox at 29. I wish we would have taken Drabek who went at 18 to the Phillies.
  14. A second baseman who is on pace to hit 59 home runs this year and knock in 120 runs , 36 steals, 311 average, and a 365 OBP. I know he probably won't finsh with that but he'll still put up MONSTER numbers for a second baseman. I would rather go after him this offseason then have to gut the farm more to get him. If the Cubs have the money to spend this offseason it would be really nice to add Alfonso and Carlos Lee .
  15. I still think Hill if he doesn't pan out as a starter could make a solid back end of the bullpen guy.
  16. Walker can play second base, first in a pinch third base and outfield. He swings the bat from the left side and gets on base. I'll bring him back next season as a starter or as the first option off the bench.
  17. Didn't we sign Dempster to the same type of deal though? We signed both Williamson and Dempster for two year deals and they both have worked out well. I think Miller is a one year deal .
  18. I think he'll be back in the Cubs Minor leagues before long.
  19. there was a lot of lofton bashing on this board when his name came up this offseason. It's rare that you will get someone to post and admit to this offseason the same with those who where upset to give up Choi for Lee.
  20. I'm watching the Cards/Astros game and it's great to hear to get the chance to hear Stone again.
  21. thats 37.2 innings with 54 strikeouts. I had hoped he would have held onto that fifth starters job .
  22. I love this and a great joke to get Nefi in the all-star game.
  23. If Cuban bought the Cubs it should be a fun franchise to watch. ESPN would have to make this a reality televison show.
  24. Hopefully we can leave Pie down there at least till mid-august. I'm not that worried his numbers aren't earth shattering but he's playing as well as expected.
  25. If the Cubs are still tanking it come July and Wood has pitched well enough to warrant a bidding war I would love to get some of Boston's young guns with the hope that Wood would be open to returning to the Cubs at a discounted rate given his inability to stay on the mound. It won't happen but it would be nice.
