I've never cringed so much as I did during OTL's piece on pitchers getting crushed with line drives to the face/skull. The Kevlar hat inserts seem like a no brainer, not sure what can be done about the face.
There might be an opening at 3b soon. Why on earth would you say that? Bryant is flopping, duh. Is that meant for green font? Serious question, because I can't tell these days. Either way: bad opinion/bad joke.
Gosh, I love him. When he's at the plate, he's just straight up action. He doesn't seem to K a lot. I'm sure batting average lovers will soon be calling for him to take the 2 spot, but I like him where he's at at 5 for now. I trust we all will assist in voting him a starter this year..... What's the NL record for ASG appearances, btw? All-Starlin Castro has to be on a good pace.
Nope, he's a catcher. If he were in any other org, then yes, he would be a LF/1B/DH. Thing is, we have a 1B, can't have a DH and most likely will need LF for Bryant. It's in our best interest to make him a catcher.
On how Kyle Schwarber has looked defensively “It’s been a great year of development for him. And this is no knock on anyone that was at Indiana but just what he had to do receiving wise to catch what we feel is at the Major League level in time, he’s worked his tail off. You see it every single day now. When he was in big league camp he was catching [Jake] Arrieta and all of those guys there. He’s got tremendous hands and he’s moving very well behind the plate. Last night he had a sub-2 throwing time on a runner down to second base. So the process has been great with him. I know I can speak for all of us in the organization, we feel very confident that he is going to be able to catch in the Major Leagues and be a force at the plate.” :clapping:
you guys have to promise not to hate me if i care more about rivero and the pitcher formerly known as cj than any non-schwarber prospect. Torres will be better than those 2 dudes
With Rizzo's penchant for getting hit, I wouldn't object at all to keeping Vogelbach. Let him DH against the AL(and hope NL adopts it), while being the 1st PH option off the bench and spotting Rizzo 5-10 games a year at 1B. 250 AB's from him could be of use to a good team. I agree. Our 2017 World Series lineup 2B Russell 1B Rizzo RF Soler LF Bryant DH Vogelbach SS Castro C Schwarber 3B Baez CF Almora And also '18, '19, '20.....
This may sound stupid to some, but unless we clearly win the trade I'd hold on to Vogelbach for as long as we can. The way Rizzo crowds the plate and gets plunked every other game, Id rather have Vogelbach as a theoretical backup than Olt or Valaika or whoever over the next couple seasons. Keep him down and let him develop a bit a la Ryan Howard when he was blocked by Thome.
