  1. Isn't this statement contradictory considering he was in Low A at 23, yet is repeating AA? ;) He spent roughly 2/3 of his season last year in Peoria and got bumped up to West Tenn, where he played 45 games.
  2. Monty unfortunately qualifies as a bust because he flopped at SS and was not worth the money or the high draft pick it cost to get him. Then again, the first round of the 2000 Draft was absolutely putrid. Utley's the only one on that list who's a lock to be an All Star...the rest is up for grabs. Montanez could still end up as a decent corner OF if he ever adds some power to his stroke. He has a reasonable enough K/BB and IsoD to make it to the majors. As for Harvey, well, just hope that he gets a visit from the OBP Fairy at some point. He's not making good contact and drawing little in the way of walks.
  3. That wouldn't be the worst of ideas. In other sports, it's had mixed results (Steve Spurrier, Larry Brown, Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban, Dennis Erickson, etc). It probably wouldn't hurt to give it a go to see if it could work.
  4. The loss of Sheets and Ohka is not helping The Crew out right now! This guy seems to have caught Cub starting pitcheritis. He's got some Kerry Wood in him (nagging injuries popping up at really bad times) and some Mark Prior in him (random injuries caused by things such as ear infections).
  5. Williams hasn't exactly been stellar in AAA...but who knows?

  7. So, with horse tranquilizers and steroids that would be...what, 4 HRs tonight?
  8. It's getting comfy up here. Who wants to join me?
  9. Yes, because we have to expect perfection out of guys just coming up to the majors at all times. Your response makes little sense. I didn't even imply perfection was needed, but please throwing 25+ pitches in the first inning kills any team's hopes for their starter to go deep. Man, some of you are touchy. I understand there's this unwritten rule for some that it's only a 6-12 team member problem, but I blame everyone -- rookies aren't excluded-- in a Cub uniform and anyone associated with the construction of this team. I'm just saying that it's unreasonable to expect rookies and young players to always perform at that level. It happens to a number of pitchers and I think it's unfair to single out certain guys, ya know? Hill had a mediocre performance out there tonight. It was dumb of Dusty to send him out there for the 7th and it cost Hill a quality start, not to mention a couple of runs. Had Eyre been out there to start the inning, there would have been a different and likely better outcome than what we got.
  10. don't criticize the kids. Onto the ignore list you go. Been nice knowing you.
  11. Yes, because we have to expect perfection out of guys just coming up to the majors at all times.
  12. Anyone who would have given Baker hell for pulling Hill would have been stupid. Hill was pretty good in this outing and all, but against the top of the order the fourth time through while getting behind in the count a bit too often, putting Eyre in from the get-go would have been justified, no matter the result.
  13. I'm hoping for a bloodbath when this team gets back to Chicago. This team is clueless.
  14. nah, dusty likes walking out there and doing his double switch. it's his trademark. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  15. At least he didn't leave Hill in for Bonds. Still, that was indefensible.
  16. Seriously...I don't see the point of this. Couldn't Eyre have started this inning?!
  17. THAT WAS RANDY BLEEPING WINN. WHAT THE &^%*!!!?
  18. Um...why is Dusty trotting Hill out for the 7th?
  19. Apparently the AL is a joke of a league.
  20. Can we please have Corey back? I'd take him over Jock in a heartbeat, even if Corey was putting up similar numbers.
  21. no he wasn't/ If Finley had bothered to throw, it would have been somewhat close.
