  1. While it's a nice idea, the game could be so bad by that point that no one would really take notice of a large group of fans leaving the stadium.
  2. They're going to need some more balls. Nice compact swing, and from the left side. He looked a little off ballance on a few of those though, probably because of the camera. He's big for a SS. He projects as a 3B/OF, from all accounts. Thanks for the vid IMB, he has quite a good swing. I'm curious as to how he looks in the field, though.
  3. It takes a special kind of talent to only have 4 90+ win seasons in the past 50 years.
  4. I'd pay good money to see Ozzie Guillen put Baker in a headlock and pound on him, Nolan Ryan-style. Maybe then some sense would be knocked into Dusty.
  5. So, who gets to come out and pour lighter fluid over this game when Maddux is done? Rusch?
  6. Throw Cal-Poly RHP Gary Daley on the Boras list.
  7. I was relieved for Corey the player when he was shipped out of here. The coaching he received here was just awful. How many coaches were in his ear at once? Sonny Jackson, Dusty Baker, Gene Clines, Sarge Matthews, and anyone else? Come on, that simply isn't the way you teach a guy like Corey consistency. You don't plop him down in one slot, then jerk him up and down the lineup, giving him different roles each time. He never would have performed this well if he stayed in Chicago this season.
  8. Welllllll... It could be a way to get rid of players like Perez, Bynum, Pierre, Jones... Which many NSBBers want. Dollars to doughnuts says that Ryan Theriot would be sent back down in favor of JT Snow if he were acquired. What's the big deal if he sent down - he's just rotting on the bench up here anyways. That was more in response to the idea that getting Snow would displace one of the village idiots than to any problem I have with Theriot getting sent down. Let's face it, JT Snow won't be taking Perez's or Bynum's place if Hendry is dumb enough to trade for him.
  9. Not only is bunting a piss-poor strategy, the Cubs are really BAD AT IT. Its really incredible how they just keep banging their head against a brick wall, hoping the next time they throw their head forward the wall will turn into Jello. What's the old saying? "Psychosis is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result each time."

  11. Calling him up to hit leadoff would be sheer idiocy. It's destiny.
  12. If the Cubs can somehow con them out of one of the good pitchers they got in the 2004 draft, I'd be fine with it.
  13. Not well. 4 GS, 0-3, 22.1 IP, 6.45 ERA, 31 H, 5 HR, 7/8 K/BB Dangit TT! :x
  14. I have a friend who has some insider access to scouts and coaches. Apparently Stock is the clear-cut favorite to be the #1 overall pick...assuming he doesn't make insane demands.
  15. I'm still not sure if Dusty made the decision or if Neifi did. Where were the advanced scouts on this one?!!?!?! Were they not paying attention in the first two games of the series? Ryan Zimmerman is one of the best defensive third basemen in all of baseball. Why the bleep would you bunt it to him...especially with Neifi, who is NOT a speedster?!

  17. Oh dear Lord... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Stay away Jim...please??????
  18. This team really finds new and interesting ways to suck, huh?
  19. The Tigers are still hot. Plenty of room on the Justin Verlander for AL ROY bandwagon! That BandWGN crap has to stop. At least when I started it, it was the simple and classy "bandwagon".
  20. I was checking the box scores just now. Somehow, I'm not surprised the Cubs didn't manage to draw a walk with a guy who had a K/BB of 13/17 on the mound against them.
  21. I think Zambrano should have played hide & seek under the tarp.
