  1. In his Pre-ESPN overhype days, he was one of the best baseball journalists out there. He wrote some tremendous columns in The Boston Globe while he was the main guy covering the Red Sox. He was always likeable and had a very good knowledge of the game. However, I haven't been a fan of his stint on ESPN. It seems like GMs and "sources" screw around with him during the trade deadline in order to blow copious amounts of smoke. Moreover, he seems to get sucked into the hype for a number of players who really don't deserve it. However, he still churns out good columns and has done a tremendous job, considering some of the other moronic columnists in the spotlight. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery!
  2. Just so everyone knows, Marwin is an awesome name.
  3. Jae Seo, too. Wasn't he the only guy in Mets history to set down 27 in order?

  5. I hate you for making me laugh when I read that.
  6. Huh? Phillips misspelled Derrek Lee's name. I figure it's because he's written "Steve <3 Derek" in all of his notebooks roughly 100,000 times over the past 10 years or so. Jeter's a cutie, can you blame him? :P
  7. This is the goods here. Don't forget to transfer at Fullerton or Belmont to the Redline. Get off at Addison. If you miss it, take the Brown line to Southport take a right coming out of the station and then another right on Waveland. When transferring to the Red Line at Fullerton or Belmont, remember to get on a northbound train to Howard. Do not get on the 95th/Dan Ryan train, or else you will be going south and in the wrong direction! Addison is two stops from Fullerton and one stop from Belmont, just so you know. Your train ride will take a really short amount of time.
  8. Hey look, it's our old buddy, Lee Gwaltney starting for Mesa! I'm guessing Rundle and Renshaw are currently down in Mesa, but haven't been playing due to tweaking mechanics and whatnot.
  9. Can he do it in the Vince McMahon voice? YOU'RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE FIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRED!
  10. Excellent work BK!
  11. I was talking to my sister earlier and she made a great observation. Whenever the camera panned to Bruce Arena on the sidelines, who did he most resemble? Where else have we seen that vaguely confused, annoyed, and generally disgusted look before? What men were the masters of the, "Maybe if I pretend I'm disgusted with this whole mess, everyone will forget I'm the one responsible for it," look? http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5639/davewannstedt8au.jpg http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7461/2765956pp.jpg You be the judge.
  12. That's been the scouting report on him for the past two years, from my understanding.
  13. It's been a brutal stretch lately, but I've enjoyed listening to you and Bob call the games. As I said elsewhere, Bob's tirade in the booth today was far more entertaining than the game on the field. :D
  14. You think they fire him before the White Sox series? With no offday in between? That'd be awesome. Maybe they'll fire him mid-game.

  16. Pelfrey's off the table since he signed on January 10th and can't be traded until one full year after he signed his contract. Aside from Pelfrey and Humber (Recovering from Tommy John Disease), the Mets do not have a whole lot left in their farm system. C Jesus Flores is hitting well down in High A (.269/.335/.507 with 11 HRs in 227 ABs) but has defense questions and OF Ambiorix Concepcion did a nice job in High A (2.87 AVG/.343 OBP), but has horrible power (.387 SLG with 1 HR and 21 2Bs in 282 ABs). That's about it. P Alay Soler might be attainable, but I question how sucessful of a starter he will become given more time. Lastings Milledge is untouchable unless they get a terrific deal.
  17. If he sends them a written apology, I'm sure he'll only get a slap on the wrist.
  18. I wasn't even watching and knew that was gone from the sound of the bat.
  19. I'd hate it if it happened, but could you imagine if, say, Howry and Jock called the booth to rip into Brenly and Len...and then Brenly was named the new manager in the offseason? Holy wow would that be massively awkward.
  20. So, anyone want to place odds on Dusty using the injuries to Womack and Bynum as the reason why they lost this one?
  21. Come on, you've been on this site long enough to know better than to use wins as a meaningful stat.
  22. Nah, it'll be Radke. :D Why not both? Quick, get the Twins on the phone! Tell them we're willing to offer Gallagher, Marmol, and Patterson! If they're hesitating, throw in Pie. That'll get the deal done!
