  1. That Daytona/Vero Beach game sounded like a scorcher. The Dodgers trotted out one of their best young arms, Scott Elbert, who threw 7.2 IP, gave up 1 hit, 4 walks, one earned run...and struck out 13. Yeowza!
  2. The highlight of the draft for me was Dan Patrick's exchange with David Stern. It was unbelievably hilarious with some surprising barbs exchanged.
  3. Dave Bush should be DFA'd for that. Who the hell gives up a HR to Pierre?!
  4. Marmol is doing well enough. Otherwise, whatever.

  6. I'm convinced one of two things is going on: 1) The entire coaching staff has already been given extensions. Absolutely no one has been fired this season, which comes as a complete and total surprise considering how putrid the offense and pitching have been. Typically teams will axe coaches as scapegoats, then hope things somehow turn around. So far, none of that. 2) Jim Hendry secretly has a grudge against Dusty Baker and is setting him up to fail. All of the comments he's been making so far seem almost tongue-in-cheek regarding this team and the coaching. How can anyone seriously be this convinced that the team still could contend? It's like Hendry is saying these comments, then probably goes back into his office and laughs his rear end off. That's the only rationalization I can do with this junk without getting to the point of me wanting to completely give up on sports altogether.
  7. I'm half-convinced that Hendry is saying this all tongue-in-cheek.
  8. I'm still baffled as to why no one has been fired yet. Cripes, do a ceremonial firing of Rothschild or Clines or SOME ONE!
  9. If he had hit the 3B ump in the face, that would have been perfect.
  10. Perhaps, but I'd rather not find out if that is indeed the case. This season, Dusty's been riding him hard. He's been the best pitcher on this team since 2004. This team is so far out of the race that these delusions of being contenders is just a joke. There should not be any reason Z should be going 120+ on a consistent basis at this point.
  11. Actually, it sounded more like they were happy his bat was out of the lineup.
  12. His arm hasn't fallen off yet, he should stay in. Plus we're in a pennant race, dudes.
  13. Z off the hook again. I wonder if Dusty will trot him back out for the 9th.
  14. Dusty has made it his life goal to destroy Zambrano's arm.
  15. All of them for the Marlins and Orioles.
  16. Dusty Baker will be managing forever if Hendry wants to give him a chance of managing this team with everyone healthy. It's a joke.
  17. Neifi as a defensive substitute = Fine Neifi as an everyday starter = Hells naw!
  18. They're generally pretty whiny. They have no idea how the big bad Zambrano was able to hit one out of the park. Hell, the fact that he even showed an iota of emotion is horrible! And did they just say that Neifi has been a valuable addition to the Cubs? For the Brewers, maybe!
  19. The Brewers announcers are beside themselves with that Zambrano HR. They're in shock.
  20. When's Neifi going to realize he has a millipede resting on his upper lip and reaching down to his chin?
  21. In his Pre-ESPN overhype days, he was one of the best baseball journalists out there. He wrote some tremendous columns in The Boston Globe while he was the main guy covering the Red Sox. He was always likeable and had a very good knowledge of the game. However, I haven't been a fan of his stint on ESPN. It seems like GMs and "sources" screw around with him during the trade deadline in order to blow copious amounts of smoke. Moreover, he seems to get sucked into the hype for a number of players who really don't deserve it. However, he still churns out good columns and has done a tremendous job, considering some of the other moronic columnists in the spotlight. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery!
