  1. Wait, wait... Are you saying the Cubs are picking up Izturis' option in 2008 as part of this deal?
  2. By God, you're right! John Schuerholtz, Bill Stoneman, they don't give a rats' ass for stats! They just go out there and acquire players who just look good dag nabbit! Any time they see a computer, they get the urge to pull out a Louisville Slugger and tee off on it because computers are the devil! Stats LIE to people! They are a horrible evil that should be wiped from the planet. I don't care if stats tell me that Neifi Perez is one of the most worthless hitters in the history of baseball, by God, HE LOOKS LIKE A BASEBALL PLAYER! He has to be great! Who gives a crap about walks? Only sissies and women take the damn things. Real men swing at every pitch they think they can hit, no matter how far out of the zone it is! Arthritis? Pft, Izturis can get over that. Arthritis is a temporary thing; thats' what my gut tells me! Enough with the shenanigans, here's my bottom line. This organization hasn't won anything of value in nearly 100 years. It's been over 60 years since they even made it to the friggin' World Series. I know they've almost made it on a few occasions, but almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. This organization celebrates when the team posts back to back winning seasons. That's not a good thing; that's an absolute disgrace. Hendry has made a few good moves in the past (Nomar, Hawkins, Ramirez), but it's clear the direction this organization is moving is a terrible one. This team has a $100m payroll and yet they're only ahead of the D-Rays, Royals, and Pirates in terms of record? They're seriously among the worst in the league in runs scored and in various pitching categories; is this a joke? I've had enough of the way the front office thinks. They think OBP is only important, but that guys who have high averages are preferable because they simply MUST have good OBPs! They don't preach good plate discipline and they have an incompetent coaching staff in the majors. Why the hell do you think it's been so long since this organization actually turned out a competent position player? Enough already with the dinosaur way of thinking; it doesn't work. This team won't go anywhere if it continues being stubborn in its line of thinking.
  3. Peter Angelos turned down the following deals for Tejada: Ervin Santana & Willy Aybar Roy Oswalt, Brad Lidge, and Adam Everett (I believe the Orioles would throw in a prospect or two in this deal) Along with the rumored Prior/Cedeno deals before we all found out that some one took Prior out of his bubble wrap a few weeks too early. If the Orioles won't accept those deals, would it really be a good idea to go after Tejada considering what Angelos likely would want?
  4. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... My bad, I started hitting the bottle the moment I saw this trade go down.
  5. You are wrong. Best case scenario is Cubs package Cedeno, and Murton, for a better fielding left fielder than Murton. That's pretty much my scenario, actually.
  6. Cubs package Cedeno in a deal with other players for a top pitcher or hitter in the offseason. They'll have the depth at 2B/SS with guys like Fontenot, Theriot, Izturis, and Neifi able to play there. Cedeno has the highest ceiling of the four and might be able to attract some interest from a team looking to add cheap middle infield help.
  7. They could have dealt for Tejada and moved Cedeno to 2B and not have had much of a dropoff in production from Izturis. Plus they would have had the extra money to pay Tejada's salary next year and still have some leftover cash to help out with some acquisitions and trades.
  8. I was dreaming big with LaRoche and I knew it wasn't happening in all likelihood. I would have taken a C level prospect in short season A ball over this garbage.
  9. We got a guy with degenerative arthritis for pete's sake!!!!!!
  10. He's a slick fielding SS with no power and doesn't take any walks. I said it before, we already have two of those guys in Cedeno and Neifi. Why in the blue hell do the Cubs need another who's owed $4.15m next season?!
  11. That brings the Curse of the Billy Goat to a whole new level!
  12. Slugger_16: remember that time the Cubs got Nomar? Slugger_16: and everyone was happy Outshined_One: Yes Outshined_One: This is like the opposite of that Slugger_16: it is
  13. I'm going to pretend I didn't see this post. There's nothing to like about having someone on the same offensive level as Neifi playing every day. Not to mention he'll be getting paid more than Neifi to be Neifi for 2+ more years. So basically you would of just kept Maddux, and let him walk for nothing? Izturis was a solid player in 04. .288 Average .330OBP 4hr 62RBI 25SB, not to mention the guy is excellent with the glove. His salary numbers are a joke and we already have two speedy no-walk little-power guys who can play SS on this roster in Neifi and Cedeno. Seriously, this is a joke.
  14. 06:$3.1M 07:$4.15M  08:$5.45M club option($0.3M buyout) Cripes, can't the idiots running the team even get a salary dump right?!
  15. You saw my post on Maddux. You know what I was hoping for. This wasn't it.
  16. Per Stark on ESPN: Oliver Perez and Roberto Hernandez could be off to the Mutts.
