  1. I nearly died of laughter when I saw that he was taking Elijah Dukes under his wing. Something tells me that won't do a whole lot of good for Dukes.
  2. He's also been rather lucky so far this season. I like the .067 IsoD, but still, something tells me he's not going to be anything more than an average everyday starter in the majors.
  3. But Barrett hypnotized Kerry to do it for him. And at Great America he hypnotized Kerry to act like he smelled someone's farts. But seriously, yes, up until this point, only Kerry had been named in the stereo incident, not that its a big deal or anything. I don't think anyone has a problem with the destruction and also I don't think anyone thought it was a one person incident. I would be happy to hear it was every single person on the team who had a hand in that. Think Murder on the Orient Express.
  4. Someone care to dig up the jokes we had when Nomar hurt his groin? Most of them apply here.
  5. Joe Morgan's comments are probably the most disturbing part of this video. You know, the Cubs could have put a coatrack with a Cubs hat and an outfielder's mitt in the OF and it would have had been a better defender than Hill. But still, what a hitter.
  6. Yes, this. Phew ok sorry Im a dumbass  No worries, mate. 8-)
  7. The thing you have to remember about second base is, if you're a phenomenal defender at second base, odds are really good that you'll be moved to shortstop. If you don't have the defensive prowess to cut it at SS on a regular basis, you normally get moved to 2B. With regards to Sandberg, what made him terrific was that he was one of the best when it came to anticipating plays. The reason why he made a living off of routine plays was that he rarely was out of position on groundballs. His instincts, in my opinion, were absolutely terrific for his position and made him a great defensive second baseman. Maybe he wasn't the same caliber of athlete as someone like Ozzie Smith, but my point remains. When it comes to Edmonds, his knee injuries did him in. There was once a point in time when he was fast enough and good enough with his glove to play shallow CF and be able to cover a lot of ground in the OF. However, he's had his share of lapses when it comes to reads and routes in CF. Because of his speed and glovework, he could overcome those flaws and still make plays on balls. However, as his knees got more and more banged up, he could no longer get to certain balls that he once did in earlier days. Moreover, thanks to his concussion problems, his reflexes seem to have gone down the crapper recently. I never liked the guy, but I'm happy to acknowledge his past successes.
  8. Just chiming in with some thoughts... -I like the idea of trading for Kobe, but I really do not want to see the Bulls give up so much to get the guy. Look, I'll admit it, I think this team could stand to upgrade at every position, but not at the expense of something like Gordon/Deng/Thomas/The #9. This team still has a glaring weakness when it comes to having an effective big man inside, how the heck would trading for Kobe solve this? Moreover, why give up a draft pick which could be used on that big man? Why also give up Thomas in the process, who could potentially turn into the much-needed low post scorer? This team has the chips to get creative, but there are still some glaring weaknesses that even Kobe would be unable to overcome. If the Bulls try for a trade for Kobe, I hope they can get Bynum or the 19 in the process. -I really like the depth of this draft and it seems like the Bulls are going to be on the outskirts with their two mid-seconds. How about trading up into the end of the first to snag a guy like Tucker, Affalo, or even Pruitt?
  9. I get the feeling he won't be the Cubs' manager by the end of the season if this team continues its horrid ways.
  10. Use the resin bag as a grenade!
  11. Your comment reminded me of this.
  12. I'd be against this simply for the fact that I've pretty much made fun of my friends who are Pistons fans non-stop since they selected Darko. :D
  13. If that's true, why the heck did Barrett drive himself to the hospital? If he was concussed, he was in absolutely no condition to drive himself anywhere.
  14. Jim Hendry was not at the ballpark but out scouting a player for the upcoming draft. Yes, I'm serious. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with him doing that sort of thing. Considering the amount of money top drafts picks are getting these days, Hendry has to be comfortable with the decision to take those guys. Granted, his scouts are the ones who will ultimately influence his decisions one way or another, but if I were a GM and was about to sink millions into a player, I'd like to know firsthand what I'm getting myself into before making that kind of a commitment.
  15. Easy Rider Jay Williams says hi.
  16. rules at what? not getting on base? His OBP was a slightly less than spectacular .313 last year in rookie ball. A first round draft pick from a major college should be able to do better than that. I'd have taken Matt Antonelli ahead of Colvin, no question. We'll see how his power looks when he gets out of the bandboxes in the California and Texas Leagues. His IsoD is nice, no question, but I'm skeptical about any power numbers that come out of those leagues.
  17. Considering his youth and ungodly IsoD, I'd say no.
  18. He threw in the mid 90's in high school. I doubt he'll be able to reach that again, but the Padres have to salvage something. Was this the worst #1 pick in professional sports over the last 10 years? Depends on how you view it. In terms of talent, there's a good argument that he is. However, compared to the contracts #1 overall picks in other sports compared to him, I'd say probably not. Some other candidates to consider... Kwame Brown (NBA) Michael Olowokandi (NBA) Bryan Bullington (MLB) Josh Hamilton (MLB, Arguable) David Carr (NFL) Courtney Brown (NFL) Tim Couch (NFL)
  19. Wow, that's some pretty poor research. He seriously used Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson as examples of pitchers who do a good job of maintaining their health? Really? How about mentioning that Prior collided with a midget second baseman and getting hit on his pitching arm with a screaming line drive? How about the fact that the Cubs never fired Baker and instead simply chose not to re-new his contract? This guy's a decent writer, but he throws in way too many baseball cliches and baseless statements for my tastes. However, some parts of it just anger me...
  20. Normally just do one post but Outshined ditched us so I have to pick up his duties too. Oh sure, pick on the guy defending alleged war criminals why don't you?
  21. If we're going to daydream about bringing in certain GMs here, why not Schuerholtz? He's done a terrific job with the Braves during his tenure and seems to have surrounded himself with some terrific scouts.
  22. Im sorry lol have at it cubs...funny how they lose when the brewers lose...i bet once the brewers start winning again, so will the cubs it is going to be a long season And odds are, come September, they'll still be in contention.
  23. To me, this is key with Oden and any big man in general. When you're talking about guys who are extraordinarily tall, that tends to lend itself to questions about injury problems. In particular, with guys that big, anything involving the back, knees, hips, and feet should give teams reason to heavily scrutinize all medical records and whatnot. Let's face it, the human body can only take so much strain. When everything is that spread out, certain injuries can be much more difficult to recover from. When you play so many games a year on hardwood floors with guys giving you hard fouls on a regular basis, it takes a toll. Those particular parts of the body have to support a lot of weight as it is; injuring them just makes things more difficult. Injury-wise, all Oden has to his name is a wrist injury. That's about it. While that kind of an injury is some cause for concern, if it were something having to do with his back, legs, or feet, teams might cool off on him. If you have a big man hindered with that kind of an injury, it makes you wonder if it'll linger. However, with Oden, he's got a clean bill of health. To me, that will help his NBA career about as much as anything else he puts on his resume, considering his level of athleticism and talent.
