  1. This times a billion. Without 2016, tonight would have been agonizing and I would have been steaming for three weeks. But with it? Eh. Get 'em next year.
  2. Something tells me he didn't have much to do with the offense's woes. The Cubs have a bunch of streaky guys prone to periodic slumps who went into the tank at the same time.
  3. Um. What? Really? Holy crap. If this gets done I'll be legitimately excited for this season.
  4. David Bote is the kind of player the Cardinals would have called up in 2004/2005/2006. Relative unknown who gets called up to fill in for a major part of the lineup with 0 expectations, then proceeds to do nothing but hit timely home runs.
  5. I would feel okay if the Cubs opted to go dumpster diving for relief help on the waiver wire. I like Ziegler, but I don't think they have the farm to trade for a high level reliever and I don't foresee anyone on the 25 man getting moved until the offseason.
  6. Porter is falling... I was not a fan of him at 7, but if he falls to 14? That would be a different story.
  7. I am in favor of a trade down. Porter's medicals are terrifying and Carter is underwhelming. But that's me.
  8. I don't trust the coaching staff or the medical team. Bamba really intrigues me out of the possible picks at 7, but if he is gone, I don't trust the team doctors with Porter and I don't think the coaches can properly develop guys like Sexton or Turner.
  9. The more I hear about this draft, the more I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad thing if the Bulls traded down a few spots. Their options at 7 seem like guys with massive boom/bust potential, or low risk low ceiling guys who are just uninspiring. If this draft is supposedly deep, would anyone in the 10-15 range be willing to trade up with the Bulls? Getting future picks or additional picks (hi LA Clippers!) might be the way to go if none of the guys available are worth it.
  10. Maybe the Cubs didn't have any pre-draft handshake overslot deals?
  11. His Cubs entry is apropos: I'd be okay with Hoerner doing that.
  12. Trade down or not, I like the slate of guys who will be available in the second round for the Bears.
  13. Not exactly what I wanted, but I can't complain.
  14. I see a lot of Rex Grossman in that pick.
  15. This team has way too many holes to merit sacrificing picks/players in a trade up, in my opinion. I think Chubb could be a beast, but I prefer quantity over quality at this point for the Bears.
  16. Use this thread for non-Bears draft stuff and general draft news and commentary. Preliminarily, LOL Browns.
  17. So, if the NBA rigs the lottery for Bulls again, what are everyone's thoughts on Ayton vs. Doncic vs. Bagley for the Bulls? Is the gap between Ayton and those two really so wide, or is there a realistic chance they would go Doncic or Bagley #1 overall?
  18. Loyola is nationally relevant for the first time in over 30 years, plus it's St. Patrick's. Pretty sure Sheridan Rd. will be a river of vomit tonight. Also, anyone left I should focus on in terms of potential future Bulls draft picks? This tournament seems to have a surprising amount of quality talent, but I don't know much about them outside of the big names (Bagley, Ayton, JJJ).
  19. Yesssssssssssss. I know it's just preseason and everything could completely fall apart by week 1, but I really like how the Bears are upgrading the passing attack.
  20. Depends on what they do with Fangio, in my opinion. If they make no announcement about him being let go today, then your prediction may come true. . Explain If they don't do anything with Fangio today, I will take that as a sign they intend to promote him to HC. Not saying it would be a definitive sign they intend to go offensive minded HC if Fangio is let go, but I think them not getting rid of Fangio out of the gate makes it much more likely they keep him.
  21. Depends on what they do with Fangio, in my opinion. If they make no announcement about him being let go today, then your prediction may come true. I'm hoping Pace's press conference today is just Pace addressing the media and him taking ownership of the decision and coaching search. The Bears need to make him the standard bearer of this organization, anything involving Ted Phillips or any of the McCaskeys today will just look bad for them and will undermine him.
  22. Let's get this party started. Bye, Felicia
  23. Irsay gave him the game ball today, to boot. Yeesh.
