  1. Whoops I love sideline reporters sometimes.
  2. Are you going to have to get fired along with Banedon? There's a replacement waiting to take his place. :D
  3. The possibility of a KU/WVU national championship game makes me happy inside. Heck, a Mizzou/WVU national championship game would be equally horrifying to casual fans.
  4. The fact that Illinois is going to finish third in the Big 10 pretty much says it all.
  5. The problem with the idea of Bonds taking a plea doesn't seem to gel with what's been going on since this whole mess started. Bonds has been Public Enemy #1 in the steroid witch hunt. Every single talking head pretty much had Bonds as the top perpetrator in taking steroids. The vast majority of the anti-performance-enhancing drugs outcry has centered on him. Perhaps he could give up some names if he reaches a plea bargain, but it seems like the whole damn point of this thing has been to nail Bonds to the wall.
  6. Pretty much. Get that BABIP up a little and he's looking at an .850 + OPS. Given that he K'd in 35% of his big league AB's, I'm stunned he ever got his OBP up that high. Ryan Howard says "Sup?"
  7. I guess Hendry's back to being the drunk guy on eBay this offseason.
  8. What type FA is he? B Meaning no team would have to give up a draft pick in order to sign him. :D
  9. Actually, he started out poorly, but promptly turned around and put up significantly better numbers in AA. 3-3, 6 GS, 3.41 ERA, 34.1 IP, 8 HR, 20/9 K/BB, .250 BAA Based on those numbers, I wouldn't say he stank. Those are pretty good numbers for a 22 year old in AA.
  10. I'll have to mull my Top 10 over. Samardzija is the biggest unknown, as far as I can tell. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of people with him in their Top 3 and a number of others with him outside the Top 20. Personally, I fall into the former category. People have to put the hype and contract aside and realize that this was his first full season dedicated solely to baseball. It's ludicrous to expect the guy to come in, guns blazing, and shred the minor leagues despite his inexperience. However, there is a lot to like about him. Next season should give everyone a good picture of what his likely ceiling is.
  11. This is such a freaking waste of time and resources.
  12. We need to send in a team to take care of him. Who's interested in volunteering? http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7426/mediumtheateamnc5.jpg
  13. None of them, if they had their druthers. They need all the pitching they can get.
  14. Jim Hendry must be stopped before it's too late.
  15. Niemann's closest to the majors of the four. It merits some consideration.
  16. I think Pie will be a tick more patient, hit for a bit more power, but be nowhere near the base stealer of Crawford.
  17. If true, I'm glad he's staying in the AL.
  18. Hill + Patterson is still overpaying, from the Cubs' perspective. I'm beginning to think the crazy trade demands have less to do with who the GM is and more to do with the overall team philosophy. "Hey, it worked with Kazmir!"
  19. For those in the know, if the Cubs were to trade Hill (let's assume for Crawford) and sign Kuroda, how much of a dropoff would there be, both in the short and long run?
  20. St. Joe's/Syracuse has been unexpectedly entertaining so far...mostly in part due to Syracuse periodically losing focus. Seriously, I think Donte Greene has been playing parts of this game from a rocking chair. The guy needs a kick in the rear, it seems.
  21. Could be cash considerations at this point. You know, this Cash guy keeps getting traded back and forth between teams. Any time there's a deal for a PTBNL, do you think he saves himself some trouble and cleans out his locker before evening getting the announcement?
  22. See, I think this way with Hill. Hendry has to realize that he has a number of in-house options for the bullpen who can come in and perform effectively. If he brings back Kerry Wood, all the better. Hill, on the other hand, gave the Cubs 195 innings of sub-4 ERA ball with a ton of strikeouts. That simply cannot be overlooked. He cannot be replaced nearly as easily. If Dempster replaces Hill, Hendry better realize that he will have to make up for this move with a big addition to the offense or rotation. Crawford is good, but not that good. A Marshall/Marmol/Cedeno package would be fair, imo.
