  1. I love how everyone stood around waiting for the foul to be called after that block.
  2. The Cardinals and the Brewers.
  3. Quit flopping. This isn't FIFA.
  4. I am, but only because I think they have a better shot at beating UNC. I like MSU as a team better. I'll be the first one to go out on this limb, but I think Michigan State would beat UNC Monday night. That said, I still think UConn will pull this one out. What makes you think that a second MSU-UNC game would be at least 36 points different than the first time the two teams met? A healthy Goran Suton would make the game closer. 36 points closer? Probably not. But he would given MSU a better chance against UNC.
  5. That was seriously Thabeet's first foul? Really? Really?
  6. That was driving me nuts! Thank you!
  7. WHERE THE HELL WAS THE FOUL ON THAT ONE?!
  8. Looked like he took a swing at the guy at the end of that play. Izzo needs to send a message. Send in a scrub for a nice hard foul. After that play, everyone's on notice. I don't see retaliation happening in this one.
  9. Looked like he took a swing at the guy at the end of that play.
  10. Gee refs, see what happens when you don't call anything underneath?
  11. UConn is getting away with mugging underneath. Yeesh.
  12. Go Spartans and Heels.
  13. What the Pistons and Knicks did to players driving the lane in the late 80s/early 90s was borderline criminal. I'm not saying LeBron has it easy, but things definitely have changed since those days.
  14. Yes. They managed to pick up some potential impact players (Rasmus and Wallace), some pretty good potential future roleplayers (Motte, Perez, Jones, etc.), and a ton of guys who currently are decent, but could break out and do really well for themselves. They've also done a pretty good job in the draft, although it bears noting that they've kept themselves occupied in Latin America in recent years.
  15. 16th in QB rating last year. It's a heavily flawed stat. I wouldn't want to rely on it as the be-all, end-all to judge a QB.
  16. *Checks calendar, sees it is April 2nd* Well I'll be.
  17. I'm ready to finally admit this, and believe me it isn't easy. I was sitting here tonight, thinking about LeBron. I do that sometimes; think about LeBron. LeBron can and very likely will surpass Jordan. Barring injury or other unnatural circumstance, there is nothing Jordan could do that this man can't and more. Every team in the East and maybe the whole league is now in NBA purgatory. Ain't nobody winning a title without an LeBron injury or some unholy player pairing like Wade and Howard joining forces. League over, go home. until lebron comes remotely close to accomplishing what jordan did in the playoffs over his career, it's pointless to compare them. there are just so many legendary shots and performances in general from jordan that made him so special. right now lebron has the 48 point game 5 against detroit and that's it. it's going to be about a decade before we can start comparing lbj to mj. raw talent/skill wise? that's another story. I think LeBron is a great player in his own right, but I just don't think you can compare him to Jordan. As Bill Simmons mentioned today, Jordan player in an era with legal hand checks and looser rules with flagrant fouls. I can't even imagine how good Jordan would be if he had played with the current rules in place. As weird as it sounds, those two rule changes effectively mean Jordan played in a different era.
  18. Like Early Edition, except it's not delivered by a cat. :D Maybe they can bring that show back, only with the cat bringing in the Daily Herald. Considering it's now the only major paper in the city not in bankruptcy, that might well be the case if they bring that show back.
  19. may have had something to do with cabrera and do we still think miller is even that good? Considering his history, potential, and lack of major league service time, yes. potential, yes, but what history? his small minor league career has mixed numbers. the only place he's really been that good was aa at age 22 (4 starts) and then a few brief appearances in A ball from 21-23 that made his career numbers look good. if you take out that 4 start stretch at aa there's not much to get that excited about, numbers wise, and so far at the major league level he's shown nothing. I was thinking more along the lines of what made him a serious contender for the #1 overall pick in the 2006 draft and what made him the eventual #6 overall pick. You cannot ignore what he showcased in college, especially considering his current age. Also, you have to frame his career in context. What you are saying makes it sound like he's been out of college for a significant period of time. You also make it sound like he only spent a short amount of time in the minor leagues in 2007. In fact, he spent half the season (78 innings) in the minors and pitched quite well there in 2007. I really do not think that you can overlook those 11 starts, especially given Miller's short and limited career.
  20. Huzzah for Drew Rundle. He's my choice for breakout prospect this season; hands off!
  21. That's because Sagarin foolishly considered all 16 teams in the Big East rather than just the top half. :good:
  22. pretty sure he was drunk when that happened. Jake Plummer's dog cackles at this post.
  23. My memory was that Hendry announced the signing of Pawelek during the first day of the draft (I think in the third round?). It was an especially weird situation since, up to that point, Boras HS clients had developed a notorious reputation of going off to college. Most people thought that Pawelek would be one of the hardest signings in that draft for that exact reason. The number of Scott Boras HS clients between A-Rod and the 2005 draft who had signed with the teams that drafted them was impressively low. What was especially disappointing about Pawelek, in my mind, was that he initially lived up to the hype. He posted really promising numbers in the AZ League (56/21 K/BB in 43 IP with 0 HRs allowed) and everyone raved about him (including BA, who named him top prospect in the AZ League that year). Whispers started spreading about him showing up to camp out of shape in 2006, but a decent season in Boise maintained his promise and potential. And then...everything just went to hell. He got hurt after apparently tripping over his Playstation in 2007. He had that whole bizarre passport incident last year and was shut down in August despite being healthy. I can't claim to know what exactly happened to him. Maybe some day we'll get the whole story.
