  2. Turner and Porcello would most certainly be off the table, even if the Cubs kicked some cash Detroit's way. Other than that, their farm system is pretty barren. Andrew Oliver. Good call, although I wasn't really high on him when he was drafted. He has a really good FB, but his offspeed stuff needs some work. I'm a bit skeptical. Still, I'd take him in a trade involving Lilly.
  3. Inge's career numbers. I don't think the Tigers would mind moving him off of third for A-Ram.
  4. I wouldn't do a Lilly for Joseph deal straight up. At this point, I'm pretty much of the opinion that, if the Cubs can't land a Top 100 prospect or a package of decent prospects for Lilly, they shouldn't bother trading him and instead pocket the inevitable draft picks.
  5. Junior Lake with his 6th HR today. He also has 2 Ks. ETA: Aaaaaaaaaaand he hits his 7th HR.
  6. Turner and Porcello would most certainly be off the table, even if the Cubs kicked some cash Detroit's way. Other than that, their farm system is pretty barren.
  7. Jacob Turner and Rick Porcello are the two players in their system I'd kill to have. Turner would have to be a PTBNL since he can't be traded until some time in August due to the fact that he signed less than a year ago. Otherwise, their system is pretty nondescript. Quite frankly, I don't think that package could net either of those players unless the Cubs kicked some serious money to the Tigers, especially considering Ramirez's $16m 2012 option would kick in when he got traded.
  8. Starlin Castro's slash line against the Cardinals this season: .526/.526/.737/.1.236. I like.

  10. Will he even pitch in the AFL? I get the sense he'll be in instructs and make his professional debut in Peoria next season. The way I see it, if the Cubs had gone Golden-Gibbs-Simpson as their 1-2-3, I don't think Simpson would have gotten much consideration for the Cubs' Top 10 following the draft. While Wilken gushed about him and some of the post-draft stuff on Simpson was fairly positive, the vibe on him leading up to the draft and when he was drafted was not the sort of thing you'd like to see in the Cubs' Top 10. The way I saw it, people were putting him in their Top 10 lists mostly because he was a first round pick and because of Wilken's track record. Those aren't necessarily bad reasons, but I don't like evaluating a prospect in that respect. Right now, my Top 7 is pretty much set in stone and looks like: Brett Jackson, Hak-Ju Lee, Jay Jackson, Josh Vitters, Chris Archer, Trey McNutt, and Chris Carpenter. After that, I'd probably put Rhee at 8 and Golden at 9. I'm not totally comfortable with those two in those spots, but it works. At #10...I have absolutely no idea who to put there.
  11. Please keep to the topic at hand. I'd think of adding RHP Aaron Kurcz to the bullpen and give consideration to putting Matthew Szczur in the OF. Both have done well for themselves.
  12. I'd put Pierre LePage and maybe Reggie Golden into that discussion. I could see Golden getting a few games in at Peoria at the end of the season. Also, with Golden signed, I'm seriously considering putting him ahead of Simpson on my Top 10. Heck, even before news of Simpson's mono came out, I was debating doing it.
  13. Jon Nagel's back from the dead and pitching in Mesa. He was pitching okay down in Peoria earlier in the season and looked like he could have been intriguing, but got sidelined with an injury. With any luck, he's back on track.
  14. Little over $150K more than slot. Not bad. ETA: Just posted video of Golden taking BP. He's got some nice pop in his bat. Also posted reports on Loosen and Geiger after getting some questions answered on Andy Seiler's site. Seiler's info on Zeller conflicts with toonster's, so I may tweak that report a bit.
  15. Maybe he's talking about Byrd or Fukudome?
  16. I'm waiting for the numbers to update, but coming into today, Castro was 7/15 with a .467/.467/.467 line against the Cardinals in his career. He's now up to 10/19 with a HR and a double. :good:
  17. I'd be fine with getting rid of Theriot and calling up Barney to be the utility guy. However, rather than play Barney at 2B, can we instead go back to the Baker/Fontenot platoon that actually had a reasonable amount of success at the plate? I wouldn't mind seeing that.
  18. In a similar vein, it's hilarious following the Reds fans over on Reds Zone right now. A number of them absolutely despise the Cubs, but in their scoreboard watching thread, their posts pretty much mirrored ours, complete with hatred of Ryan Theriot!
  19. http://www.timemachinego.com/linkmachinego/images2/shining-twins.jpg For ever and ever and ever...
  20. Not a fan of taking out Soriano for defense here.
  21. I was waiting for Theriot to get the ball and crap himself. He's seriously having an awful day in the field.
  22. I'm having nightmares of the Cubs holding onto a one run lead going into the 9th with Marmol coming in with control problems.
