    Welp, now it's time to cheer for a Clemson/Boise State national championship game.

    That's a Jim Caldwell specialty. I got it when the Badgers took the timeout after Cousins fumbled it with about 48 seconds left. It was 2nd and 21 and, if the Badgers had held the Spartans, they would have had pretty good field position with time left. I didn't get that timeout on 3rd and 8 on the MSU 36 with 30 seconds left.

    The only con I can really come up with for Hoyer is how the Karsten Whitson negotiations completely blew up in his face. My memory was that the Padres were completely taken by surprise that Whitson suddenly decided to play hardball with them and turned down a fairly lucrative offer. Sometimes these things happen and it may not have been all the Pads' fault, but that sort of mistake can indicate lapses in scouting a player.

    Hoyer's moves with San Diego have actually been pretty solid. His 2011 draft was quite cost-effective and brought in a number of solid players to the Padres organization (Spangenberg and Peterson especially), plus I like how they've basically tried to bring in good quality role players on short term deals. He's clearly tried to build the Padres from within without needlessly stretching resources. Even if the Cubs never even considered Theo, I'd be pretty happy to have Hoyer and McLeod.

    I'm tempted to slide Lake back into my Top 20 thanks to his run in the AFL, but that's about it.

    That was the most fun I've had watching the Bears in awhile. Good to see them handle Minnesota without too much trouble.

    Nah, he's better than that. I think his offensive ceiling is somewhere in the area of Carl Crawford with fewer Ks and stolen bases. He plays a pretty solid CF, too.

    The words "breach of contract" come to mind. Theo has an employment agreement wherein he performs certain duties, has authority over members of the organization, and is the GM. Stripping him of those duties or naming someone else GM while Theo is still employed by the Red Sox as GM would cause them a whole mess of legal trouble. That's possible, but 100% speculative. We don't know what options the Sox do and don't have, contractually. Which is why we must speculate about the Red Sox stripping Theo of his duties and title without any legal repercussions whatsoever.

    Well hell, the Cubs skipped Castro from the AZ League to Daytona. If Candelario really is that good and ends up in Peoria, then I think we're going to be in for a show next season.
