  1. He'll be the top FA on the market this offseason if he's not extended. He won't get Vlad Jr. money, but someone will pony up.
  2. This was one of those annoying games I didn't expect them to win a week ago, but they had every right to win today. I get that guys slump unless they're having a 2005 Derrek Lee or 2016 Kris Bryant season, but having PCA, Tucker, and Suzuki all have an extended slump at the same time is so damned deflating, especially since the rest of the offense is showing signs of life.
  3. Knowing this team, it'll be 12 in a day followed by a week where they only score 4.
  4. It's admittedly next to impossible to keep politics out of discussions involving this team considering their ownship situation. We try to keep things civil, but feel free to report posts when things go completely off the rails.
  5. I don't expect the Cubs to win the division, but I'd love to make the Brewers sweat with a win tomorrow.
  6. Pitchers at first, but hitters would catch on to the inevitable predictability of the zone and you'd then see offensive numbers start to spike.
  7. Miz had a disaster outing in Cincy his last time out. Let's turn that one-off into an ongoing pattern.
  8. Up to now? Perhaps marginally, given that the Cubs' pitching has been rock solid post-TDL. However, the key would be in the playoffs and down the stretch. Having another SP would help juggle Horton's and Boyd's load management (although it would add a complicating factor in Cabrera's load management since he's never pitched more than 130 IP in a season) while also allowing Soroka to heal up. Additionally, a top three of Imanaga-Boyd-Cabrera, with Horton as a potential 4th starter/long man, would be downright lethal in the playoffs. Cabrera's team control would also be the proverbial icing on the cake.
  9. Oddly enough, I feel like the Brewers would have swept the DH yesterday if Game 2 hadn't been postponed. Awesome day today.
  10. "Load management," but no one seems to have any idea what that actually means. Birdsell's elbow also went kablooey, so there's that.
  11. I think we all can just agree that this horsefeathers month can't end soon enough.
  12. The maddening thing about this team right now is, the moment they fall behind, it's over. It's one thing if they come out bashing HRs and chaining XBHs together, but it's as if the moment the team goes down 1, the offense goes straight into the crapper and can't even scratch a run across with runners in scoring position and no outs. I know this won't last, but it's so horsefeathers disheartening.
  13. I know the Cubs are struggling offensively, but let's not take it out on each other.
  14. Kinda funny that this is the lineup certain posters have wanted over the last 2-3 weeks.
  15. I always read that as a sour grapes rumor circulated by the Commanders' PR team, in fairness to Ben Johnson.
  16. Is this going to be a WWE-style situation, where Scherzer is pummeling Dansby Swanson to end the game, only for a limo to speed out onto the field with Owen Caissie stepping out as the crowd goes bonkers?
  17. Can't wait for Caissie to become the board's most despised hitter within the next two weeks.
