  1. Remember the steroid era? Those were awesome years.
  2. If the Royals can hold the lead on St. Louis, we'll end the day 6.5 out of the playoffs. Just sayin' ...optimism? Seriously?
  3. If Gatewood falls to the Cubs, part of me hopes McLeod throws the "every pitcher ever after round 1" plan out the window.
  4. Will this be like the early years of the NBA Draft on TV where they would chain a guy to the chair in the green room until he was picked?
  5. That's just about the most Cardinals pick possible this year.
  6. Anyone know how good Schwarber's arm strength is? I've heard one of his issues behind the dish was not his ability to throw, but his transfer. If he has a decent arm, why not try him at 3rd? I know we have a supposed logjam of guys who could end up at the position, but if Schwarber is supposed to be a good athlete and his arm is good enough, why not give him a shot at third before moving him to left?
  7. I can honestly say I've never seen a hitting prospect like Bryant in the Cubs system. This sort of output is just incredible.

  9. Screw it, I'm just going to use animated gifs to respond at this point:
  10. OPS went from .593 to .670. http://cdn1.sbnation.com/imported_assets/1720517/BoozerOpenMouth_medium_medium.gif
  11. Luke Hagerty. He had TJS (can't remember if it was botched or just unsuccessful), had a long time off, came back for a bit, and fell off the planet.

  14. Uneventful day on the farm. Skulina had a nice outing and Hanneman had a 3/4 with a double and a triple, but otherwise, meh.
  15. Why? He basically had a private conversation with his mistress that she recorded (knowingly or not) and took public (likely without his consent). I believe in most situations, a person's political/religious/social views shouldn't necessarily be grounds for something along the lines of termination of employment or expulsion or fines, especially if those views are kept private, out of the public, and out of the workplace. It wasn't like he said all of this at a press conference or at a team meeting. Moreover, what also doesn't sit right with me is that Sterling's racism was well-known and well-documented, as evidenced by multiple lawsuits and settlements, but it took something like this to lay down the hammer on him. If this had happened as a result of him getting slapped with another DOJ lawsuit for racial discrimination, it'd make more sense to me. But a recording that goes viral is what finally rids the NBA of this guy? What does it say that the NBA was willing to tolerate someone who perpetuated institutional racism for decades and didn't get rid of him until his pissed off mistress released a recording that told them everything they already know? However, as I said, Sterling got what he deserved. He has every right to open his mouth and spout off whatever nonsense he wants, but that nonsense could have cost the league millions upon millions of dollars. The league had every right to take these actions against him to protect itself from further damage. It was the right call.
  16. On the one hand, it gives me momentary pause when someone is punished for voicing their beliefs, regardless of how racist/sexist/necrophilic/etc. those beliefs are. On the other hand, he's a racist [expletive] who agreed to abide by the NBA's rules the day he bought the term, said some incredibly racist things that resulted in a mass sponsorship exodus, a near-boycott that would have crippled the NBA, and a PR nightmare which all could have cost substantial amounts of money and credibility for his franchise and for the NBA. He got what he deserved.
  17. 3/3, with 3 HRs and a HBP by the dude who comes in for Kershaw trying to get "payback", followed by a 10 game suspension when Bryant charges the mound and lays down a whuppin'.
