I played baseball with a couple of Mormons and even dated one for a while. The term for a Mormon who doesn't follow all tenets (i.e. drinking and pre-marital sex) is a Jack-Mormon. I have known the strict followers and the less than strict. Very interesting to see the disparity. One girl I took out absolutely refused to drink alcohol, but was perfectly fine with the pre-marital sex. Doesn't make sense to me, but that's ok. \:D/
Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Yes, Kris is Mormon. I know a guy who was on his traveling teams in high school and he told me that last year. Said he is incredibly nice as well.
Well, in a stretch of 7 games, I think I had about 8 Dick Tidrow's. Brat with shredded gouda, plantaine chips, and an awesome dijonnaise sauce. Definitely head and shoulders about any other dog or polish I have consumed at a game.
Randall Simon. Not kidding. Haha, I agree. I recall seeing Simon having some of the best contact skills I have ever seen. There was one pitch which seemed to me at the time to be above his head off the outside corner that he almost hit out in Arizona one game.
in the last 3 years, there have been 4 total seasons of guys doing that. two from bautista, one from harper and one from goldschmidt. i don't think this is gonna happen. We know he has the power and he has a fantastic eye at the plate. If he can learn to lay off some sliders low and away, he could be the best hitter on this team.
Fernandez or Syndergaard are about the only two (non-Kershaw) pitchers for whom I would be ok seeing Soler be traded. I think Soler will be a 30+ homer, 100 walk guy in two years.
Are we sure that Twitter didn't autocorrect the word "dong" to be "dog"? If he meant dong, then it could have been named "Major Cardinal Heartbreak". Strangely, this idea was also posted in the game thread. Really? I just read this and the thought came to my mind brain. Everyone in here clearly has dongs on the brain.
Personally, I would rather the Cubs play the Mets. I realize they have a more potent lineup, but I feel they have a better chance against righty pitching than lefties.
In the same boat as you. I've been trying to sell as many as possible at face value to family/friends/co-workers to avoid the StubHub fees. The only games I've made a profit on this year are Opening Day (upgraded to better seats through the presale, so it was a wash) and the White Sox series (minimal profit). I think the days of using Season Tickets as an investment ended after 2008 unless you want to sell playoff games and/or the Cubs really start dominating. The team has gone to the full extreme on pricing tiers, which is probably the main culprit besides actual team performance. However, I remember that you could get any ticket you wanted for face or slightly above for basically all of 2003. The biggest financial benefit I have seen so far has been from concert presale tickets. I will take a bit of a loss on my season tickets but that has been more than made up for by the profit on the concerts. I really do think that we will see the tickets at the end of September go for more than face value (if the Cubs are still competing for a playoff spot) and hopefully next year will be even better. The better product on the field will help immensely with the attendance.
It would be unconventional if he did considering he's only pitched like 8 games this year at AA and doesn't have a very good peripherals. Yeah the 1.73 ERA looks enticing, but his FIP is 3.54 and his K:BB ratio over 41.2 innings is 32:18. That's... not fantastic. While stranger thing have happened, I'm going to assume Johnson only sees the majors this year as a September call up. Johnson reminds me a lot of young AJ Burnett. Great stuff but lacking great command. Here's hoping he can have even half the career of Burnett.
