  1. Roast, You answered your own question. In Jim Hendry's mind, paying a 31 year old, left-handed hitting, toolsy player with 30 hr potential $11.67M over 2007 and 2008 is just not terrible. Well, my question is, where does this "30 HR potential" come from. The most he has ever hit in one season is 27 (2002) which was coincidentally his best overall year of his career. In fact; one could probably say it was the exception to the rest of his career. Outside that season his highest HR total is 23. And its sad that Hendry doesnt realize that. Well, we are halfway through the season and Jock strap has 13 Hr's. I don't think 30 for the year is outta the question at all. His career high is 27...you think he's having a career year? Or possibly going through a good stretch? Exactly. Is it possible jones continues this hot streak for the rest of the season and hits 30? Sure. Is it likely? No. Look over Jones career and you'll see a trend. That trend points to him not keeping up these numbers.
  2. Please, don't get us mixed up with Red Sox fans. They do. You combine a soccer game, with 400-year old bitter history's, a few pints of beer, and you've got a riot on your hands. Have you ever had a non-stereotypical thought pass through your mind? Just wondering.

  4. You know, there was a time when a Santana-Prior matchup would have been like an amazing wet dream. But now, I dont even care. I know the cubs are going to get clobbered and probably have a perfect game thrown against them. Its really sad when wins aren't even gratifying anymore. Used to, the cubs could go on a 5 game losing streak, but as soon as they one that first game, I was all pumped and ready to go again. I seriously think they would have to win about twelve in a row before I even pretend to care. Cubs suck.
  5. #$%^&*(*&^%$#$%^&*()(*&^%$#@$%^&*()(*&^%$#@!@#$%^&*()(*^%$#@#$%^&*()(*&^%$#@#$%^ JIM, WHY DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO GET OUT OF THAT TERRIBLE CONTRACT, DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT HE IS PLAYING WAY ABOVE HIS HEAD??? I hate this team soooo much.
  6. Wow, This is a really sad way to see the Wood era end (assuming he doesnt pitch again this year, and option isnt picked up. Which may be a fairly large assumption, who knows). Wood has been one of my favorite players for a long long time. I'll be sad to see him go somewhere else, but hell, he'll probably have sucess there, so maybe its for the best.
  7. Well Its good to see that some arent. But most of the ones I know are, unfortunatley. But then again, most of the ones i know are in high school and couldnt tell you what OBP, OPS, or WHIP is. Its probably just highschool immaturity.
  8. too many white players for the daytime heat.
  9. And, its funny, I had an argument with a sox fan after the Tracey incident who told me that "guillen is a breath of fresh air, he's what baseball needs." I asked "why? Because he's winning" His reply... "OF COURSE, WINNING IS EVERYTHING, DONT YOU KNOW THAT" And sadly, he wasnt being sarcastic. YOu know, I dont give a flying you know what about the sox, they have nothing to do w/ the cubs. But its people like THAT who annoy me, and make me wonder why sox fans are so damn annoying.
  10. Completely false. Your completely false. That may qualify is the most childish comeback I've ever seen on this board.
  11. Oh my my my. This team is delightful.

    Help

Allright, well I made a few moves over the past couple days. Firstly I made a trade with another member of my league (who is sitting around the middle of the pack this year). I sent Brad Wilkerson and Kenny Rogers to him in exchange for Gary Sheffield, Livan Hernandez, and Brian Anderson (who is elligable to stay in the minor league system untill the end of this season). Obviously it was a "next-year" trade for me, as sheffield is on the shelf till september, and Wilkerson/rogers will help him now. Then I dropped Brandon Backe and picked up Aaron Cook. Finally I Sent Jered Weaver back down to the minors and recalled Jonathon Broxton. So, Assuming the deal I just made isnt vetoed, which it shouldnt be, This is what my new updated team looks like: Offensive Starters C- Jorge Posada NYY 1B- Prince Fielder MIL 2B- Todd Walker CHC SS- Jhonny Peralta CLE 3B- Aramis Ramirez CHC CI- Riche Sexson SEA MI- Mark Grudzielanek KC LF- Matt Murton CF- Jason Michaels CLE RF- Brad Hawpe COL OF- Kenny Lofton PHI UTIL-Chris Shelton DET Offensive Bench 1B- Sean Casey PIT C- Jason Kendall OAK LF- Frank Catalanotto DISABLED LIST: Bill Mueller LAD, Gary Sheffield NYY Pitching Starters SP- Carlos Zambrano CHC SP- Ryan Madson PHI SP- Chris Capuano MIL P- Mark Redman SP PIT P- Brandon Webb SP ARI P- Jake Westbrook SP CLE P- Tim Stauffer SP SD (NA) RP- Jonathon Broxton LAD RP- Kyle Farnsworth NYY RP- Billy Wagner NYM Pitching Bench SP- Livan Hernandez WAS SP- Jon Garland CWS SP- Aaron Cook COL SP-Esteban Loaiza OAK DISABLED LIST- Ben Sheets MIL MINORS Offensive Prospects OF- Ryan Sweeney CHW 2B- Delwyn Young LA INF- Brandon Sing CHC 2B- Eric Patterson CHC SS- Matt Bush SD SS- Justin Upton ARIZ OF- John Mayberry TEX SS- Ivan De Jesus LAD OF- Brian Pettway TOR OF- Brian Anderson CWS Pitching Prospects SP- Angel Guzman CHC SP- Billy Petrick CHC SP- JD Durbin MIN SP- Jered Weaver LAA SP- Carlos Marmol CHC At the moment, I am in deliberations w/ another manager to possibly send Posada plus some away for some young talent. But I wont discuss that yet since many of the league members post here. Anyways; I'm looking for comments/suggestions. So again, HELP.
  13. Exactly. We have a chance to get out of this HORRID three year deal right now. PLEASE do it, jim. PLEASE.
  14. Heres some things I wouldnt have guessed around Baseball: -Heltons home run power vanishing. -Ben Sheets spending 90% of the season on the DL -Ponson having success -The Bluejays actually competing with Boston/NYY. We knew they'd be good, but wow. -The BRAVES IN LAST PLACE -Sheltons Monsterous start -Delmon Youngs Bat Toss game. -An Ex-Whitesox getting arrested for DUI...oh wait..nvm.
  15. There is more than one team in baseball with a worse record than the cubs.
  16. I'd take Howell over Gathright five days a week, and twice on Sundays. But theres still ONE day you love gathright.
  17. so while theres a few people here...Whats up with Marmol? is he going to be put in the rotation in boobies place or will he continue to rot on the pine.
  18. What a throw by pierre!!!!!!!!! ....wait... :(
  19. I vote boobie. Because, as we have pointed out a few times in this thread, he has alot of brestege
  20. Thats a good Idea.
  21. Yeah, I had Carson last year and loved him, but I can't see him being completely ready for a while. Yah, I picked up Vick, and while he's not the best, he should get me adequate yards if Palmer has problems. Also, I dislike my running backs. I'm working to fix that problem.
  22. I would have had to laugh if Dirk would have injured his foot when he kicked that bike...
  23. I think wade has actually given me a reason to start watching the NBA again.
