  1. Of the three RB's i started this week LenDale white had -1 yards, Jones-Drew had like 3 yards, and Taylor had like 30. Sweet. I knew I'd have a bad week with Jones-Drew and Taylor going against Minn. but still. Jesus.
  2. seconded I think I hate him more than any other baseball player. Fourthified fifth-ed-ed.
  3. I've avoided this thread because I don't want to believe that Kerry won't be coming back. I gave in today. Best of luck, Kerry.
  4. Eff him. He was responsible for Sammy getting nailed in the head. After which he was never the same. Not that it was the sole cause of Sammy's decline. But he never was the same after that hit. http://sportsmed.starwave.com/media/mlb/2003/0420/photo/sosa_0420_hi.jpg
  5. After previously viewing this as the longest of long shots, I now realize that Hendry is masterfully doing just enough to get my hopes up to make me resentful and view the rest of the offseason in contempt when it doesn't happen. Yep. Which is why I refuse to get excited about this.
  6. THIS is what I missed about the offseason. All your 3-way trade proposals.
  7. I would assume Jamie Moyer would retire. At least, One would think he'd want to go out on top.
  8. Barring a huge night by Cooley, I'd like to thank every single member of my team for performing below their projected level and contributing to this loss. Way to go, assholes.
  9. Plz Hendry. I'd love to have peavy. Could you imagine Peavy, Z, Harden, and Demp if we could somehow resign him too?
  10. Is that the pitching rubber Jamie is holding?
  11. I'm not as excited about Burnett as everyone else seems to be, especially for the crazy money teams are lined up to pay him. Assuming Dempster's year wasn't a total fluke, Dempster will be $3-$4 million cheaper per year for 1-2 less years. You really think Burnett is going to go for insane money? I certainly see Sheets and Sabathia going for insane dollar amounts, but i'm not sure how I feel about Burnett. He had his worst year since 03 last year so possibly his price tag will be a little less? Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.         career high 18 w's mon frere, the guy finally figured out how to win #-o tree is clearly being sarcastic. BUt that's how GM's are gonna see it.

Stupid me looking at stats like ERA and ERA+. I need to think more like a GM. W's are huge.

  14. I'd certainly sign him for a one or two year deal that's not too expensive.
  15. ESPN is reporting that Burnett will decide by Monday whether or not he will use his opt out option on his contract and become a free agent. If he does, would anyone be in favor of signing him? How much money do you think it will require? This year is going to be a ridiculously strong pitching FA market: Sabathia, Dempster, Sheets, Burnett (possibly)...yikes. Mod Edit: Link to the post with information about Burnett opting out.
  16. I agree...Give Hoff the job, but I don't even think he needs a RH hitting Right Field to platoon with...Hoff holds his own very well against lefties (didn't he hit a bomb of a lefty in Shea). Hoff needs to play right everyday, Koske has enough range to play Center in small Wrigley field...end of discussion. You have your middle of the order LH bat in Hoff...If he doesn't do well, move DeRosa to Right for a bit and have Fonte play second...bingo, bango, bongo. Take the money you would have spent on a Right Fielder, and spend it on Pitching, Pitching, and more Pitching. Get another starter...Get a "lights out" reliever to go along with Marmol and Wood...because we all know, pitching wins World Series, especially in the bullpen...and its been 101 years. A few things: First of all, playing both hoff and Kosuke (assuming no massive turn around) would make our offense worse, not better. "lights out" reliever? Relievers are so incredibly fickle; there are very very few relievers who put up "lights out" numbers year in and year out. You can probably count them on your fingers. That's why spending big money on relievers is dumb (See: Bob Howry/Scott Eyre). As for pitching, I'd be all for another pitcher but I think that can be done without having to cripple our offense.
  17. Usually someone around here posts a outlook version of the schedule. I know there are no gametimes yet but I wondered if anyone will be doing that again this year.
  18. Hmmm...It almost seems as if someone is trying to pimp their own product here. *puts huge link to his blog in signature* Difference being: it wasnt my second post on this board when I did that.
  19. so wait, we're their hated rivals now?
  20. According to the scoreboard page on MLB.com: Suspended: Rain (Completion on 10/28/08 at 3:33 AM ET) That can't be right, can it? They're starting it at 3:33 am? huh? http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/20081027.html

  22. Yeah, that's just what we need. Another lazy ramirez who wont hustle around the bases. All those stats don't mean jack when you've got laziness like the Ramirez cousins on the basepaths. PASS.
