  1. Wow, was i wrong.
  2. True, and I'm sure that's part of it. But there have been offseasons before and it's never gotten this bad.
  3. Hey, I'm pumped. Bradley is my last name and it's sosa's number. Guess who's jersey I'm buying. :D)
  4. Just so we're all familiar. This is Fred and some of his stats taken from a random game thread last year: (put in a spoiler cause it's so long)
  5. I can do this. Ok...that's great. I'm not asking you that. I'm asking is there any more random stats I should keep track of. We have a regular poster that already does this. That's who Fred is. fred doesnt track any of the stats that the poster mentioned. Pretty sure he's got a way of figuring out : "Do you wonder how often Ryan Dempster is able to pitch a scoreless inning despite a leadoff walk?"
  6. lol, dempster is awesome. Also, if you want to imagine the visitors clubhouse, imagine a MAYBE 20ftx15ft room with lockers in the walls. And that's about it. My first round of interviews last year was held in the cubs locker room, the second in the visitors. There was a definite difference. Granted, the cubs locker room isn't that big either. Really not much more than you see in that picture, but at least they have a kitchen and a weight room attached to it.
  7. Really? I hate the idea. Alternating would be fine with me, whichever team had th best record in the regular season would also be nice. But the problem with the allstar game is that a team could potentially be screwed out of home field advantage by a pitcher - who is not on their team - giving up a run allowing the other team to win. Or in the case of last year, Dan Uggla forgetting how to play second base. It seems completely stupid to me to allow Uggla's craptastic inning/game to put a team for whom he does not play in any sort of advantage/disadvantage.
  8. Doesn't Soto speak Spanish? He was born in Puerto Rico. And lives there in the offseason. He definitely speaks spanish.
  9. Seriously, good luck to him. Seems like a quality guy.
  10. Sosa did this as well. no he didnt. all sosa did was take steroids, walk out on his team, shoot innocent bystanders and leave an upper decker in the pope's toilet. =D> :rotfl:
  11. I bet it's Joey Gathright.
  12. Darnit, I missed being in both of these pictures by literally inches. But anywho, The convention was very fun. I talked to both gathright and bradley very briefly and both of them were extremely nice. Gathright seems like a very down to earth guy - both of them seemed pretty amazed by how huge/enthusiastic the cubs fanbase is. EDIT: actually, I'm in the second photo. I'm the only guy facing away from the table towards the right of the photo (left side of the table) I forgot where I was standing for that particular event.
  13. Darnit. I was in chicago on sunday, too, and I didn't pick up a paper.
  14. When Reed stepped out on stage the first time I about crapped myself. Holy freaking crap that beard is awesome. Also, I got the chance to talk to Wayne Messmer for a couple of minutes last night - really nice guy. As for boos, the only guy who really heard any boos when they got introduced was Aaron Miles and even that was a mixed reaction. Santo, like always, got the biggest cheers. Well, it was actually about tied with the reception Soto got when Crane Kenny mentioned his Rookie of the Year award.
  15. Just got home. It was really cool. I got stationed up on the balcony with all the players for opening ceremonies, which were fun to watch. Then I was in the room with the sports central broadcast on 720. Which was also fun to listen to. Good day.
  16. Somebody already got blasted for posting this a few weeks ago. I'd duck my head if I were you.
  17. :hello: Well, I'll be there at least.
  18. Baltimore/Tennessee getting underway. Should be a great game.
  19. http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/886c41e1-cc7a-4b12-ab09-c83e49c31827.jpgthe faces in this pic are awesome.
  20. I was in the C+ crowd. He's done well, but not great. A couple of big positives on his record, and lots of negatives ranging from small to large. C+.
  21. :( :( That's sad. Oh, what could have been.
  22. really? yeah man...dero is the man he made a lot of big plays for the cubs, and brought with him a tremendous attitude... he was definitely a key factor in the thrill ride of the past two seasons He's also a baseball player you've never met before, so it seems weird to nearly cry while watching video footage of him. Weirder than you caring what gets an emotional response from a man from a message board whom you've never met?
  23. :-$ inside voices, plz.
