  1. Coker the Toker. Vols RB L. Coker dismissed after 4th failed drug test. Im not aware of a NCAA football player having this serious of a problem that he got busted 4 times. Tennessee earlier this year revamped its drug-testing policy, and in doing so, added a fourth strike for a positive marijuana test before an athlete was dismissed. The old policy stipulated that an athlete was booted on the third positive test. Marijuana is the only drug an athlete would be able to reach a fourth strike for under UT's new policy. Cocaine, heroin or anabolic steroids would be dealt with more harshly.
  2. Hello....anybody here? There are some great games this weekend to talk about. Whattsupa with this thread.
  3. PJ Hill is questionable for tomorrows game vs Ohio State. Not good for the Badgers.
  4. How can the Yankees not afford to keep this guy? These are the list of players that will be off of their books after 2008. 2008 might be hard year to swallow but after that, things look much better. Giambi-$21M Mussina-$12M Pavano-$10M Farns-$5.5 4 guys=$48.5 Likely: Abreu-$15M Clemens-~$20M Pettitte=???$$$$ Potentially clear for 2009=$80M+. Obviously these guys will need to be replaced on the roster with someone else so its not exactly pure flexibilty but they wont be signing a 1b for $21M and get 5 FA agents at $10M+. This team is getting old in a hurry, they better work on keeping Arod.
  5. Well the Ohio State/Wisconsin game is on the B10 network this weekend which totally sucks for us who dont get the B10 network. I find it amusing that people outside of B10 country get the network but many of us who are in the heart of it dont. I have friends in Kentucky that get the network and i dont. WTH, like they could give a crap if they get it or dont.
  6. Meh. It's only 3-0 in the 1st quarter. I'm not too worried yet. No Hart or Henne. Im worried. Can't see the game because we dont get ESPNC. WTH.
  7. I do too. I don't what it is, but I really think we can win this one. I guess it's a matter of Anthony Morelli forgetting that he's Anthony Morelli for a few hours. I dont have a lot of confidence in Morelli picking apart the zone defense and disguised blitz's OSU brings. Boeckman looked good in the 1st half against state last week, i missed the 2nd half and that pick 6 he threw. OSU doesnt lose TO battles, maybe tonight they will cough it up more. PSU needs that. I hope you guys' boys get it done tonight. I dont have a lot of confidence that my guys will pick up the B10s mess on Nov 17. A Michigan fan? Jesus. Couldn't you guys just lay down after the beginning of this season? You had to lose your first 2 games embarrassingly and then sweep through the Big Ten making the rest of us look terrible. Go Bucks Then to top things off, they'll get killed by OSU making it look like a one team conference. Doubtful. The bigger the disparity between the two teams in the rivalry, the more likely the good one will lose. Ahhhh the mid 90's, those were the days   UM has no shot with Mallett under center against OSU. Mallett is starting today.

  9. I wish i shared the confidence that UM will get the job done this year, im definetly not as confident as I was earlier in the year. Im not going to defend OSU but they are solid team. I have a hard time believing they are the best team but at the same time nobody really sticks out either. #1 by default sounds right. I like OU but they struggled verse Iowa State this week and didnt look to convincing. Ive learned to never underestimate OSU's ability to win games, they might just run the table until the NCG game again. Penn State needs to take them down this weekend and end all this.
  10. Interesting with the 'power' but it has a rather 'Rude Goldberg' sense to it.
  11. Michigan has trouble with spread offense that can balance the pass and the run. Illini is a one dimensional spread offense that can have a couple big plays with the pass but cant make the nickle and dime pass plays consistantly. UM defense is a very inconsistant because they have a knack for giving up big plays. If Illini doesnt make big plays i have a hard time believing they will march up and down the field on them and put up enough points to offset UM's offense. UM's weakness is in their secondary; Oregon and App St. blew holes in those guys, i dont think Illini has the same type QB to do the same. Who knows the UM defense against Purdue's spread could be mirage, i sure dont know what to think of them yet. Offensively UM can do whatever they want, its up to the vanilla coaches on how that shakes out.
  12. The Dbax talent for success: 1. Brandon Webb 2. Big fly's (HRs) 3. Bullpen 7/8/9 locks it down thus shortening the game. #1 doesnt come through hope for #2 and #3. #1 and #2 dont happen #3 is insignificant. 4 games against the Rockies and in only 1 was the bullpen anything of an advanatage and they lost that because they couldnt be consistant enough at one time or get the big fly to save their ass. Unfortunately all 3 games against the Cubs all 2-3 played a big role. No way will I ever say the Dbax are a better team, the Cubs have much more ways to beat you. Oh and i can't believe how freaking hot the Rockies are. They arent just barely winning every game the run differential is huge and impressive.
  13. His last 2 years before last were pretty damn bad but up until then he had some good years and 1 average year. Last year with the Cards his #s looked more in line with his good years with whip and k/ip. You can't ignore 05/06 but can't forget the previous years as well as 07. I saw him pitch once last year and he looked good(nice tight curve), he didnt look 5.00+ERA bad.
  14. Those were the real Chicago Cubs. ...And those were the real Dbax that showed up in the NLCS.
  15. I only look at the top 5 rankings seriously, after that it doesnt really matter but for window dressing. Im still having a hard time figuring the top 5 let alone the top 25 this early. The next 2-3 weeks should really tell the story of whose good/marginal etc. But yes, Illini should be ahead of UM as insignificant as that is at this time.
  16. the maurice clarett team was completely uninspiring too, they won every game by about 3 points and were given major scares by mediocre teams like Purdue, Illinois and Cincinnati. Then they made the national championship game, did next to nothing on offense all game, and were saved by a bogus pass interference call. but yeah this team is even less inspiring than that one. That team drove me freaking nuts. I havent seen enough of these guys yet to get a good read on them. The next 5 weeks for them will definetly be their test.
  17. What the hell happened to Purdue. Im surprised UM beat them so bad.
  18. The Big 10 network can go to hell.
  19. The trade market is the way to go. Id rather pay in prospects + the cash for the player upgrade than invest in a marginal player in the expensive talent deficiant FA market. As mentioned earlier im also all for Renteria, its going to cost talent but at least you are getting something very good in return at a position that can use the upgrade. The Cubs need to be players in the trade market this year and they have some good pieces to make it worthwhile for the other side. I like the bullpen. Resign Wood. Of course Eyre sucks but the rest of the pen is good enough to make up for him. If they dont trade Marshall im good with him in the 4/5 spot. He made some real nice progress this year. Id rather not see him go, but he is a good little piece of trade bait for an offensive upgrade. Its pretty much all about the offense this off season.
  20. This is what is frustrating to me. I wont disagree with people who arent uberoptimistic about this Cubs team but please dont tell me the DBacks are good. All day ive been saying to myself..."the diamondback suck, no they really SUCK. Chris Young sucks, why throw him a fastball, there's a reason he's a .230 hitter." I havent broken anything yet, but there are moments when i near the anger crescendo that i tell myself just dont throw anything at the TV, breaking the tv is really dumb. Im afraid i might do that if i dont keep myself in line. The broken cup pic was great.
  21. homer to me. how does it the yellow paded line and redirect that far.
  22. can brady clark suck anymore at catching the ball
  23. Send Joe Tiller a copy of the UF/OSU champ game last year. He needs to duplicate everything the UF offense did.
