  1. But it wouldn't be a 3-way tie. OSU would have 2 losses, Illinois and Michigan only 1. Yeah, what the hell is my problem.
  2. In the event of this hypothetical 3 way tie the team that has the most outdated Rose Bowl appearance gets the invite. If a two team tie exist without a head-to-head matchup same thing goes. Illini has'nt been to the Rose Bowl since 1984, UM and OSU have been there more recently. (at least this is how i remember it being)
  3. Do the Yankees ever get a hometown discount.
  4. Yeah, Leaf really sucks. Bad. And what was up with brother Ryan putting the headset on the sidelines. Dude is a 'guest' on the sideline and off a sudden is in communication with the coaches. that seemed weird to me.
  5. What happened during the Penn St/Purdue game? I havent heard anything controversial from that game. they were going to suspend them for THAT? pretty lame. The biggest issue in that game was a play where the Purdue player got out of bounds late in the 4th quarter, but the official called him in bounds, and Purdue was forced to use a timeout. The officiating wasn't perfect in that game, but I've seen some Big Ten officiating in the past five years that was mind-boggling in how bad it was. The conference picks the Penn State-Purdue game as the game that merits suspension of an officiating crew? What a joke. I was watching that game with a Purdue fan and he was all like "Penn State gets all the calls at home, this is a joke! Paterno works the grease on the officials! Purdue is a step child of the big ten! And im like, dude tell me about teams getting all the calls, ive heard that before." Alright...there is my zing, all in good fun. Anyway that call sucked but yes its weird that whole crew would be supsended, i dont remember anything else suspicious. OSU needed to run the table for their NCG i dont care when they lost. A one loss B12 team plays no matter what (one of them has to beat the other 2 at some time right). LSU plays without another loss. Oregon is the one looking in.
  6. it blows away the $11.75M or whatever that Hoffman makes (currently the highest for a reliever) I agree 15m is too much for a closer. But let's not compare Mo and Hoffman. I know Everyone is going to jump all over me on this one, so........ENJOY. They are both very good. You're just biased. Mo may be better, but not by a very large margin. Rivera is better and it is by a decent margin. Rivera has had seven years with an ERA under 2 in the stronger offensive league while Hoffman has had one year with an ERA under 2 in a weaker offensive league. Meh at ERA for a reliever. Give me K/BB and WHIP anytime. WHIP for Middle RP but for closers like these 2 guys ERA works well because they arent coming in the middle of an inning. $15M holy smokes. But if Cordero is going to get $10M then i can see it. Cordero $10M? Dang.
  7. Juicy.....
  8. Jones' power is in the gaps. Good luck with that in Detroit. RF isnt so bad if you yank it but thats not Jones and LCF is going to be a lot harder for him to reach than WF's bleachers. Not a real fan of this trade but at least this go around he saved more money than before.
  9. If Tennessee loses out, Phil Fulmer may be looking for another job. And if Fulmer is, David Cutcliffe would also become available as well as John Chavis. I doubt we lose out, though. Wow....imagine Michigan, Tennessee, Nebraska and UCLA all looking for coaches. The coaching carousel could be crazy. More than that. Possible openings: Michigan Tennessee Nebraska Texas A&M Arkansas UCLA Pitt? Arizona? This guy needs to be fired. Dennis Franchione has had nationally respected recruiting classes and has underperfomed every single year. He doesnt need to leave the state for recruits either so its not like its hard to recruit kids to stay in Texas.
  10. Great win for Illini, they played really well. It takes a little excitement out of the UM/OSU game next week but id rather live with that than OSU in the NCG. In case you missed it Lou Holtz said the Big 12 was the best conference because of Mizz/OU/Kansas. Dont get me wrong those 3 teams are very good but after that and maybe Texas i dont know what else to like. Speaking of Mizz, why isnt Chase Daniel talked about as being a NFL prospect (or maybe he is im just missing it). He could use a couple inches, thats the only thing i see holding him back. Also i see they just landed the #3 QB recruit, well done. If Brian Kelly, coach of Cincinnati, isnt on your coaches radar he should be. Im not sure he will be another Jim Tressel coming from the D2 coaches rank but he should get a look to coach a bigger program soon.
  11. Illiniois is doing it!
  12. SUPER Mario.
  13. Mallett is supposed to be the future, but he's completely over his head right now. His last 6 or 7 passes haven't been anywhere near the mark. He's just firing it at hard as he can and praying it comes close to a WR. That and this offense is even more vanilla with him in there if you can imagine that. he had arrington wide open for a bomb and overthrew him by 10 yards. Mike Hart needs a Tim Biakabutka performance next week if Mallett is in there.
  14. No way would i wish for that next week. Im still of the belief lloyd is waiting to go out on top and by that i mean have his last game against OSU be a W.
  15. I give Michigan a 10% chance of winning next week it Henne isnt under center.
  16. Ive heard the Tigers are interested only if they dont resign The Gambler.
  17. Tyler Donovan is handing it Michigan. Some of it Michigan's own undoing by poor tacking and wrapping up of him, but the other is Donovan making some real nice plays as well.
  18. Fulds #s...hahha. .500OBP Fuld is a great player to backfill your roster with. Young, cheap and you can contol him for 6 years without tying yourself down to a long term contract. If he sucks you just cut bait and move on. I also think there is something to be said about bench players that can control the strike zone and still get on base when they arent hitting well. Nothing more do i hate when a guy doesnt get consistent playing time to see him hacking away and chasing bad balls.
  19. I believe that is the sun, casting its "rays". I mean really, there are some pretty sweet animals in Florida, the grandest of all being the Alligator. The best they could come up with was the Rays? Hell, I would have preferred "The Geriatrics" to the "Rays". Funny since they play in a warehouse.
  20. Im having a hard time figuring out how Michigan will get a Rose Bowl berth with a loss to OSU. They are currently ranked 12th in the BCS, even if they beat Wisconsin, a loss to OSU will drop them out of the top 12 and probably top 16. The Rose Bowl would have the first or second selection since the champ of the B10 is in the NCG and they would select a low ranked Michigan(is that even possible) ahead of others to play in a rematch game (Oregon gets the auto)? No way. Michigan needs to beat Ohio State to go the Rose Bowl bottom line. They can even lose this week for all that matters, they wouldnt be ranked very high going into the Rose Bowl but they would be there nonetheless.
  21. McFadden is a cant miss. Size, speed, vision, etc. Jones/Stewart/Mendenhall all appear to be very solid and potentially very good NFLers. Slaton is a home run threat, thats it. Hart i would label a wild card. He is already having durabilty issues, he's leaving the game for short periods so many times from getting dinged up, he ends up returning but literally its almost every game now. He cant be an everydown back but his best work is between the tackles and in traffic so hes not a scat back like his size would suggest nor is he the guy you say 'we gotta get this guy in the open field', hes very quick/ellusive and strong in the lower body but lacks top speed. See his long run vs MSU this weekend, the hole was plugged by oncoming LB and then he 'hits the L-1 button' and boom he is at the second level, then guys chase him down in the open field. Emmitt Smith type. Will he break these tackles in the NFL? He's 5th best RB ond draft day at best.
  22. Take a flier on Fukudome paying him about what you would Crawford and keep all of your pieces. If you can move Jones then go after crawford for the CF. I would not consider Hill an option either. He is basically free and should be relatively cheap when/during his 3 arby years.
  23. I wish i could say the Illini/Ohio State game would be close but i just dont see it. I like Mendenhall a lot but i dont like Juice passing it against OSU at at all. Maybe Mendenhall will have the game of his life, Juice needs one of those too.
  24. We could call it SABER. Strikes And Balls Errors Rarely. Then the game taken over by nerds would be complete!
  25. OSU is definitely the best program in the Big Ten right now, Michigan is marginally better than Penn State overall (though they don't do a great job of recruiting speed or developing talent at WR/LB/DB). That was easy. Marginally? How many BCS games or Rose Bowl games have PSU been to besides the Michael Robinson year. Before that PSU was a doormat in the B10 for many years winning 3-5 games. Michigan competes for the B10 title every year except for 2 years ago, i can't say the same for PSU. Even with their disaster start this year they are once again toe to toe with OSU going into that final game for the B10 Championship. Anyway, getting back to the discussion.... I more of a believer of Kansas. 10 straight TDs to start the game is impressive even if it is NU defense and their QB looks pretty solid. The last 3 weeks i have become more impressed with Ohio State than i was originally, and i have become less impressed than i was 3 weeks ago with LSU. I continue to like Oregon and OU. Thank heavens BC lost yesterday. If Ohio State would of been able to play them in NCG i would be all sorts of pissed.
