  1. That's actually not a good thing. Right. Except i meant to say .020 Stupid decimal places. I actually didn't even notice. Point is that Murton has less power because he's more average dependent. This is even more important since Murton outperformed his BABIP by about 20 points thus far in his MLB career. If/when he reverts to his expected levels, then he's Rondell White with even less power, and that's not very good at all. You articulated my point better here with your 2nd sentence :) BABIP takes it further.

  3. Murton doesnt have the ability to hit 30+ HRs without changing his swing. Its not like he is driving the balls in the gap all time, hes only got 18 doubles. His big, strong, and has quick bat, but his swing is too level to generate HR power. Its hard to hit the ball out of the park consistantly when you swing is finishing below your shoulder blades. Good stat comparisons with Greer and Oneil. I will throw this name in the ring only because he has a very similar swing 'finish' to Murton. Rondell White. Rondell has phenominal bat speed. Its unbelievable. But it is such a ling drive swing he doesnt generate enough lift on the ball to hit the long ball. His HR's were mostly of the line drive he hit it so damn hard type. Even as he got older he didnt start to hit more HRs, its because his swing dynamics prohibited him from hitting that many HRs. Rondell's best season when he played 152 games he hit 28 HRs and 29Dbs. HR/AB Rondell 27 Murton 30 Slg. Rondell .465 Murton .469 (and Murton has a career .020 BA advantage on Rondell) Murtons has a significant advantage on Rondell in OBP. But i dont see him hitting for anymore power than Rondell (because he sure the hell doesnt have more bat speed and actually finishes lower on his swing than him) unless Murton changes his swing. This would be a huge change he have to undertake. Very rarely do guys change their natural swing that drastically, and its not like Murton isnt successful in the first place. Id be happy with a heathy Greer, Oneil and healthy Rondell in LF.
  4. That Rich Hill is no more! uh huh, i like the new one better too
  5. this is where the old rich hill falls apart.
  6. Other than that, no mention of the Bears, of Grossman, of the defense, anything. Only quick mentions of how bad the Packers are. This is what my dad and i were talking abou today. No credit to the Bears all about how bad the packers are. Everybody knows that defenses win. The Bears have championship defense no doubt, no question. The question is the offense. Now yesterday that question probably wasnt fully answered by the offense but it was a significant improvement over last years team no doubt. This is big news people. If the Bears can put together a top 15 offense they are a....SUPER BOWL CONTENDER. Yeah you can say that again. Pay attention media.
  7. That's just it. I get more excited than I otherwise might because of their technique. I'm glad that they seem to know what they are talking about and keep itabout football but they really make it fun to listen. Jeff is able to paint the excitement and power and energy of the game with his voice even more than his words. It's kinetic not intellectual. Anyway, I like them. I love them too. They are wonderful to listen to when you are a raging homer like I am. I usually mute the TV and listen to the radio team. Me too. I would too but i cant stand the 3 or so second delay. 'Grossman passes to the end zone.....touchdown!' While im seeing Grossman still holding the ball.
  8. Yeah, heard that on the post game. Thayer is sweet. He talks football, not a bunch of cliches or stupid stuff like a lot of guys on TV.
  9. Oh i forgot one of my highlights of today. The packer fans sat on their hands ALL game. It was great. My wife and i cant stand packer fans, we hate them worse than the packers themselves. I think i heard that hillbilly chat of 'go pack go' like 1 time. I mean how good is that?! They had absolutely nothing to cheer about. I bet the Packers never had 2 good plays in a row today. SMOKED. Thank You Bears!
  10. What bothers me is the red zone play calling. It seemed like once we went up 13-0, Turner started screwing around with HB option passes and draw plays when Grossman was just picking GB's defense apart. They need TD's when they go up against better teams. 1 TD and 4 FG's isn't going to cut it all year long. The RZ you are refering to was bad, ill agree. Maybes its me but i was still in the conservative dont mess this up lets take our 3 mode. After what i say today from moose i think they should go more moose. he is a legit RZ WR threat that is hard for defenses to match up. I didnt see isolation plays to moose today in the RZ, i would like to see that more.
  11. I thought the cowboys are supposed to be awesome. nope
  12. Good, I thought i was the only one thinking this. The PBP guys were all like "Seattle isnt this today, they arent doing this, etc." They never gave any credit to the Detroit DLine.
  13. Packers dont suck. THE BEARS R AWESOME thanks for playin.
  14. College football saturday is such a great way to party. Tomorrow we are going to party our asses off. First we are going to watch the ever so entertaining Michigan/CMU game, which will hopefully be boring come mid 3rd quarter, but you never know. We just want to drink beers, chill and go outside a play some bocce ball, we dont need no unneeded tension of a silly football game while 'chasing that jack'. Then the PSU/ND and of course the OSU/UT game at night. Now the the big game tomorrow night. Dont be surprised that after the game the Downtown Athletic Club hands Troy Smith the Heismann trophy there on the spot. Really...don't.
  15. Hill has a better ERA than Marshall now. Damn, dudes come a long way. Marshall was 'ahead of him' at the beginning of the year, doesnt appear that way now.
  16. Theroit and Bynum are both a little light in the prospect department. They are kind of old to be considered to have much potential. Both have utility guy written all over them. Theriot has a .355 minor league OBP, while Freddie has a .347. The big difference is BB/K ratio. The Riot 233/230 Bynum 273/604 This is why Freddie can't translate his OBP and is getting his ass handed to him in the the majors. The Riot on the otherhand had a better foundation of plate discipline in the minors and why he is probably doing a better job at getting on base at the new level than Bynum is. Majors BB/K ratio: Bynum 5/35 The Riot 9/7 The Riot might not be good prospect in the everyday player fashion mold but he is sure looking like a very good utility player at least unlike Bynum. The BB/K ratio is significant difference in the 2 players.
  17. Has anyone watched a game on ESPN360?
  18. Minnesota at Cal. The Big Ten is terrible when traveling to a Pac 10 team.
  19. FSU's spread offense sucks running against fast defenses. When you only have 5 blockers its hard to set up the run. They dont know how to play smash mouth football or run 'at' people. Its all misdirection, counter, run out of the shotgun, pass sets up the run mumble jumble. Their offense has gone downhill since that one guy left for NC State. right, it's a different style, but my point is that if Penn State can't establish the run, ND will be able to sit back in a Nickel package and put their effort towards shutting down the pass Ok i see where you are coming from. I just looked at they did pretty terribly against akron running. 80 yards total and 42 were on one run.

  21. What!! There are other games besides the BEARS? Thats all that matters. The doubleheader on monday night is pretty damn sweet. IM SO JACKED FOR THE NFL THIS SEASON.
  22. And yet they'll look like a completely different team when Notre Dame rolls in on 9/23. I'm sure they will. The two things that have mystified me most about Notre Dame football in the last decade are how Lloyd Carr hasn't been able to beat ND consistently when he had so much more talent for the bulk of that time, and how Michigan State has dominated ND despite not having as much talent in the bulk of that time. Charles Rogers Plax TJ Duckett Those guys were pretty much unstoppable in college. MSU doesnt generally have loads of talent (although probably still more than ND in the last 10 years) at many positions but when they hit a true playmaker they hit it big. Those guys had huge games against ND.
