  1. I'm with you on the "ND hype machine." I'm getting sick of it. The crazy part about it, to me, is that I think Charley Weis is going to make them a power. His recruiting is off the charts, he's an excellent game-planner, and a good game coach. Its just absurd that they are putting the cart way before the horse. How about we wait until he makes them great, THEN the national media can fawn all over them. Stop antagonizing them, it will just make it worse around here  Ok now what is up with Lee Corso saying SC wont win a SEC title under Spurrier? This is absurd to be so sure that it wont happen. Florida wasnt the powerhouse they were until he got there and installed that offense. He can coach, recruit and stay out of trouble. Hell even Lou Holtz had a really good season and Spurrier is twice the coach he is. Speaking of Lou Holtz he is a complete ass on television. He constantly belittles Mark May and dribbles all over himself when he talks. Mark May needs to pile drive that POS into the newsdesk. Trev Alberts was in self love with himself but he at least made me laugh.
  2. Troy Smith looked phenominal. 2 years ago he was a scrambling qb, yesterday he was a decisive, accurate pocket passer. Tennessee with the first major ass kicking of the year. Michigan with 5 sacks, maybe the defensive changes are working. Definetly more pressure on the qb than all of last year ex-nebraska.
  3. What was up with that stupid trick play Central Michigan tried pulling down by 7 points. That was idiotic.
  4. SEC games are the best to watch, though I love most all the college football games. If the SEC and Big Ten didnt play at the same time id watch more SEC games. I cant stand to watch the pac 10 on saturday night. The SEC saturday night games are usually pretty damn good so ill catch a couple of those games. Its about time the Big Ten adopted some saturday night football this year. I am looking forward to seeing what the Big House looks like after the renovation. Its about time they updated it.
  5. Hurt. explecitive Are you serious? I didn't know that. What kind of inury? Got hit in the arm by a line drive. yeah yahoo is saying bone bruise in forearm
  6. I think he can be the perfect neifi perez/jose macias type player except that he can hit and walk some. This too is where im begining to go of late.
  7. Dudes i been out and just checked the box score. The Riot 5 for 6!!!?? DAMN
  8. Not at all? I have a friend who is a Purdue fan and he has bought a game and watched it on his computer before. Is that possible this week? Also to anybody that knows, are games available PPV this year individually or do you need to buy a whole weekend package like last year for like $14?
  9. As a Notre Dame fan, I feel very sorry for what is going to happen to that team. Ty already managed to pull in one of the worst recruiting classes in the history of the BCS Big Six conferences after a 2-win season. It could be a long time for Husky fans till they're back. What?? Where do you get this from? Rivals has UW 2006 recruiting class at 35. For a 2 win season thats pretty damn good. Do you remember reading the board here with all the surprise of how well Zook recruited off of that terrible season, well his recruiting class was better but not by much. Ty landed 4 4 star recruits and 3 of those from Washington. One thing he said when he got the job was to 'shore up the state of Washington recruits'. The state of Washington produces some fine talent and it appears he has made some progress in that regard. You can say what you want to say about Ty but dont forget this. The only reason and i mean only 1 reason that ND is considered a national title contender is because of Brady Quinn. Ty's first major recruit, a national recognized top ten 4 star QB, when he had a full season to fully recruit. It was Ty who lead the charge on moving the prehistoric, Bob Davie option offense to a more West Coast, professional offense. If he hadnt done either of those Chuck Weis wouldnt be where he is right now. Are you familiar with the way Ty recruited Quinn? I assume not but he did not go after Quinn. In fact Quinn's dream was to attend ND but he was not getting any offers, or even phone calls, while offers from many other major schools were pouring in. After ND get Ndukwe (who went to HS with Quinn) to come to South Bend for a visit, Ndukwe's dad suggested that Ty look at Quinn. Ty did not land Quinn with his first major year of recruiting. Ndukwe's dad landed Quinn for ND after Ty didn't pay any attention to him for most of his first full season of recruiting. And luckily Quinn was waiting for ND to make an offer, otherwise he would probably be a Buckeye. Here is what was said in a SI article EDIT: Also Ndukwe's father helped ND get Abrarimi (sp?). Just to reiterate, TY did not recruit well. He thought that the fact it was ND would be all he needed. He lost many big recruits, and the only ones he managed to land were the ones who had always wanted to go to ND. For another example of Ty's excellent recruiting look into Steve Quinn. Ok, you make a good case that i assumed too much credit for Ty landing BQ. Take that out and leave my 1st paragraph as what my main point was....The comment about Tys class being the worst ever in this history of the Big 6 BCS was flat out ABSURD. In fact i think it was rather impressive for a 2 win team.
  10. We need to see more Theroit in the offense. Gotta have a good look at him so he can be penicled in as the backup at the beginning of next year or not. Bynum has no future in this club. Or at least he doesnt deserve so. The Riot does. Play him.

  12. This is why he is far and away better than Novoa or Aardsma. They have one pitch, 97mph heat and thats it....and their control on the fastball isnt that great either. Novoa is a suck ass and no way should he have been in front of Wuertz on the depth chart this year. Its a good thing the Cubs sucked this year because Wuertz was in AAA waaay to long. Howry, Eyre, and Wuertz is a very SOLID pen.
  13. You cant hit into the double play striking out or walking. There, thats my Dustyism for the day.
  14. At first when i read this article i was pissed. Then i read Lee's comments and did a complete 180 and became very happy. Lee totally contradicts what the manager is saying. Instead of buying Dusty's usual spin control he thumbs his nose at him. The last time Dlee said something negative about the teams performance Dusty came back with the 'no we showed up but we didnt come to play defense' bullcrap. This is at least the second time the best everyday player on the team and the manager are not on the same page.
  15. Isnt this in addtion to what is in effect? Booth review will go on as it did last year but if a play isnt being reviewed the coach can request it. Many times last year a coach would have to call a timeout to get a play reviewed and if it waw overturned they still lost the TO.
  16. My memory of NIU vs Michigan is a bit shady, but i was rather impressed with NIU's offense. That has the potential to do some damage to OSU's inexperienced defense in this first week. I also seem to remember that NIU's defense was rather small, especially up front. I dont think they can pose any defensive threat against OSU's stout offense, especially if they are undersized. Michigans Oline really pushed them around and i see the same with OSU doing it this year. Could be an entertaining game.
  17. Half the Cubs roster has played in Iowa this year. Lets call up the other half of Iowa and call it good.
  18. Good Lord. If the Mets scouts were in attendance, what a waste for them.
  19. If he can hit like he can sing, I think we're golden. :D BTW, the Black Crowes are awesome. Chris Robinson is our 'Remedy' for Neifi. OMG dudes, this is so awesome. Ive been out of the loop for the last 2 days and today i decided to read the tribs hardcopy of the newspaper, which i dont hardly read anymore. I saw the article about Neifi being traded and i gasped. Its good to be a Cubs fan again!
  20. Sadly, there is no hope for this team as long as Hendry is in charge with this moronic, head-in-th-sand attitude  I read that as Bruce impersonating Hendry.
  21. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5905/news Uh...yes please. I'll gladly trade a bust in Haynes and a late pick for a solid WR. Haynes is owed a lot of money too this year. He doesnt produce what he is worth. Im not a cap expert but if he is released i think they have a cap hit too. Something like $2.6m in 2006 salary if i remember correctly.
  22. That really says something as to how pathetic the NL is. Agreed. I find myself taking cursory glances at how Cincy is doing to see if the Cubs can draw closer. And that's just ridiculous considering how laughably bad the Cubs have been. I do the same thing. As bad as we played the first half at least the 2nd half is enjoyable. It's nice having a half of season not worrying about Prior and Wood. The status of the rest of the NL just pisses me off even more that Hendry and Baker did such a bad job. The division was there for the taking, and so was the entire league. MacPhail's absurd "contend within the division" mantra, and the quest for mediocrity that this entails could have actually done some good this season if they managed to do anything good in the offseason. As much work as the 2005 team needed to get better, it wouldn't have taken much to make this 2006 team at least .500 capable and possibly contending. I was talking about that last night with a friend of mine. All we had to do is play .500 baseball to be in it. It's a shame a team with a 95 million dollar payroll couldn't even do that, with or without DLEE. .500 baseball for the year would put the Cubs 1 game out of the wild card. And this is what pisses me off too everybody. Being 1 game out of the WC this time of year would be pretty exciting.....but no. Id rather some team run away with the WC than have a team a couple games over .500 lead the way. The NL was there for the taking! Just get your ass in the playoffs and let things sort themselves out from there later.
  23. If that red light is on at Krispy Kreme im stopping. I swear that sign when its lit reads like a big flashing 'heroin sold here' sign. Hell, when you walk in they give you one free glazed donut like a dope dealer, once you try that puppy you are getting 12 of them.
  24. Marmols control hasnt really been a problem until he reached the majors. His walk rate in the minors isnt mr. wildthing. His first couple starts in the majors he wasnt bad, its the recent outings that he has walked everybody. Of the 3 i like Marmols stuff the most so i'll go with him. Marshall is one of those guys who will stuggle at first because he doesnt have a dominant pitch yet, overtime i see he using all of his pitches better and being a sub 4.20 era pitcher. I dont know what to say about Hill.
