  1. Ahhh the Super Bowl diversion thread. I believe the cap is going to $110M from $90+. That should enable the Bears to resign players without mortgaging the future. -Briggs. Franchise him or long term him. -Vasher and Berrian sign extensions. 2007 is their last year before FA. Maybe even sign Rashied Davis to an extension. -Sign Scott unless he gets starter money someplace else. (Im not optimisitc about that) -Brown. Im not sure he will take a pay decrease. He is a Pro Bowl safety when healthy, someone will give him $2.5M, especially with the cap expanding. Id take a $2.5M risk that he will be healthy, that contract is not a franchise backbreaker. Leonard Davis. The big FA splash. Is it too much to ask? They would move Tait to RT and release Miller. I like Tait at LT and Miller at RT but i like Davis at LT and Tait at RT better. -Draft OL, DT (Boone and Scott maybe gone), LB, TE. -I know there has been much discussion on S. Im not sold on spending a 1st or 2nd round pick on that, anything other than that isnt going to make an impact more than Harris/Todd/Brandon. I think Manning did well this year, im not giving up on him yet. Deon Grant is an UFA so he would be on my list if they went the FA route to replace Brown. -Pretty boring list, but this is young Super Bowl team. Some tweaking but an overhaul is not in order
  2. The Colts were the better team. If anybody thinks otherwise they are looking through some funny glasses. The Bears could of won, no doubt about that but they didnt play well enough to make up for their mistakes, the Colts on other hand DID. The Colts won as a team effort and the Bears lost as a team. Neither the offense or defense overshadowed the Colts and the same goes with the Bears. Grossman should share some of the blame but the run defense for the Bears as Urlacher said was 'very disappointing' too. Im already hearing Rex being bashed this morning on Mike and Mike an other outlets, and well i guess that no surprise, but jeez sometimes people go overboard with this. They said Eli or Rex and the response was Eli in an eyewink. Please, Eli is no better than Rex and this was Eli's 3rd full year to Rex's 1. Greenberg even said 'the Bears hid Rex for their 15 wins' huh... WTF is he talking about? No excuses for Rex's fumbled snaps (one got away), those are silly mistakes. The interception on the Moose play is one i would be most critical of. He was looking good on the 2 previous pass plays. Him and Turner really forced that play, Grossman should of looked somewhere else on that play with that coverage. The Berrian pass, they were down by 2 tds, needed to get something quick and he underthrew it. It was a physical mistake and not mental, i can handle more physical ones from him than mental. The TD pass to Moose was a fantastic pass. I thought he threw the ball well except for the aformentioned interception to Moose. They have a very good shot a returning again, they are young and improving each year. I might be more disappointed if they dont return to the Super Bowl in the next 3-5 years than the loss yesterday.
  3. What happens if bonuses like that push you over the cap or something? You are ruled "Financially Inelgible" and have to forfeit any hardware. No really im suprised a rookie put that in his contract. Good for him.
  4. Best youtube video ive ever seen. Bar None.
  5. Don't worry though-3 of 4 people on Cold Pizza picked you, you're fine :D Yeah whats up with Bayless picking the Bears. Didnt see that one coming.
  6. Why wouldnt they be interested in him pitching until may? I think he's making that up so he can do his BS 3/4 season he did last year. Unless they feel he cant pitch a full year because he is wearing down, so start him late.
  7. Well its about time. Im over the transaction period of baseball. Im not really focused on baseball yet, im sure ill need a couple weeks to decompress from this years football. Normally i am pretty pumped up about all this, just not this year yet. And im very optimistic about this year. I feel Division Champs is very feasible and possible.
  8. If Nick Harper is not practacing and still wearing a walking boot i dont know how he is going to play this sunday.
  9. Trev Alberts isnt busy anymore.
  10. Bad ass. Things like this are silly but very cool in a way. I saw the picture of the Bears at the Musuem with the helmet not fitting. They said it was supposed to be fixed today. I wonder if its fixed yet. They did a lot better job with the helmets this time around than last time. too bad it didnt fit right the first time.
  11. Yeah for real. I worked as a painter this summer and I remember listening to the radio, with all the talk from Training Camp, from the TJ Ced Benson contreversy, to all the talk about Super Bowl or bust. And its all paid off right now. A great, great feeling. Exactly. I remember them talking about how Briggs was demoted to second string after skipping voluntary workouts, and then Vasher threatened to hold out if he didn't get a contract extension. Seems like so long ago... Man I completely forgot about those situations. The whole Vasher and Briggs situations were so stupid at the time and now they even more trivial. How far we've come. This is why ive debated doing like a season journal thing. Ive been thinking of doing that with the Cubs and may do that this year. The media loses perspective or throws out of context many issues. If i had a grandpa or parent that chronicled their own pespective on the seasoon i would like to read that. The championship years are probably the only ones worth saving.
  12. I was wondering if NFL Films would put something like that together. Too bad i dont get the NFL Network. Im jealous.
  13. Im really having a lot fun watching all this Super Bowl stuff. Watching the WGN News at Nine, NFL Live, Sportscenter, etc. Im enjoying more than i thought i would of. Its SWEET. I'm actually having less fun than I thought I would with all this buildup. The stories that are being written by the media are mainly mindless drivel. It's only one game! How much analysis can be done? I can't wait for Sunday because they'll actually finally play the game and I don't have to hear all the fluff pieces anymore. Yeah that part has become a little tiredsome. I like the hoopla. WGN is doing great with the hoopla and hardly any 'talking head' analysis. I like seeing/hearing all the Bear fans pumped up about the Super Bowl. Even though some of the analysis are downplaying the Bears it really doesnt bother me because well..... they are talking about the Bears in the Super Bowl. That aint to bad, no team is perfect. If any of you have HBO did you watch Inside the NFL last week? NFL films does a great job of covering the games. Lotsa game highlights of the Bears/Saints game. I have it on DVR and have watched the Bears highlights like 4 times.

  15. Weaver for me. Both have shown the ability to crap the bed. Weaver at least throws in some pretty good years. Marquis best years do not match Weaver's best years.
  16. I hope this is true. Excluding his rookie season, one in NY and last year, he has been pretty solid throughout his career. Last year he was AWFUL in the regular season and PHENOMINAL in his 5 postseason starts. I sure dont expect him to maintain his 5+ ERA next year and the following years. I still think he's a good pitcher, just went through a bumpy patch. Ok it was some BIG bumps but still.
  17. Dallas Clark in the slot Vs Urlacher. Clark had a great game last week and i saw a few of his catches where he was lined up in the slot (i didnt see the whole game). If he lines up in the slot will Urlacher cover him?? Clark freaking killed the pats.
  18. Ive been a staunch Benson backer all season. After Jones' last 2 games i would rather he not go for a draft pick. I think no higher than a 3rd rounder. If the Bears were not very good, id be more inclined to trade him. They are going to be leading contenders in the NFC next year. Jones doesnt not have breakaway speed, i know Benson doesnt have a huge run yet but he has more breakaway speed than Jones. I still can not believe Jones had that cut back run for a touchdown. I dont think ive ever see him try that this year. Normally he just smashes up against his blockers back and falls down in a huge rugby style pile up. Jones had his game of his life last game, he was Awesome.
  19. Cool. Now why would the Bears grant the cowboys permission? They would be stupid to. Lovie and Angelos are on the same page when it comes to talent. Jones is a freaking moran when it comes to talent.
  20. Judge rules Tank can travel to Miami and play in the Super Bowl.
  21. Anyone with news on Nick Harper? Inserting Marlin in the starting lineup isnt such a bad thing for them. I'll guess he lines up against Moose. But it does hurt their depth on covering the slot reciever like Rasheed when the Bears go 3 wide. If the Bears get Bradley on Marlin a few times that should favor the Bears. I was encouraged at the Bears pressure on Brees. The Saints had phenominal Sack/Pass Attempt stat. Not only did they get 3 sacks they forced at least 2 intentional groundings because of pressure. The Colts like the Saints are very solid against pressure. Because the Bears played so well against the Saints OL, im much more encouraged about that matchup than say 2-3 weeks ago.
  22. you guys ar way to fast for me.. im still drinking the last game ill catch up later. FUn!!!
  23. Give it a rest man Nope. I kept my mouth shut during the week. I just sat back and listed to how the Saints were going to come into Chicago and light up the BEars, and I just kept it quiet. To think the Aints could actually come into Chicago and get a victory, whatta joke. If the Saints hadn't shot themselves in the foot and fumbled so many times, they might would have beaten you in Chicago. So why don't you be a humble victor and be thankful that you are going to witness your team in the Super Bowl. There are 30 teams with all their millions of fans who won't get that opportunity. Wow man. SORE LOSER. Not cool. Are you serious? Totally. Why don't you just admit the Bears beat the Saints fair and square today instead of playing the what if game? You were the one talking smack all week long "oh the Bears will never stop our offense" and all that. Give me a break. Exactly. Aints fans... Dudes. RELAX. R U Serious. Go back a couple pages. Talk football not S.
