  1. I believe it was the same series in early '04. Think the Cubs were up in the 9th inning and Dusty let Wood pitch the 9th, promptly gave up the lead after questionable calls, and then boom-goes Dusty and Wood.
  2. @Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #Braves close to acquiring Justin Upton from #Diamondbacks. Still working through final details. Looks like Upton brothers will be on the same team.
  3. I really don't like the thought of drafting a LB in the first round with so many other needs. Wouldn't be all that surprised to see the Bears trade out of the 1st round in order to get additional picks. Might be the best way to acquire depth without splurging in FA
  4. Suppose this may be time to re-hash the subject. Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin Source: #Dodgers tentative deal with Time Warner Cable worth between $7 billion and $8 billion to team Good lord, that's a crap load of money to spend on middle relievers and Carl Crawford.
  5. Hard throwing lefty, and (I believe) a hometown guy. I'm not a huge fan, myself. RHP. and from florida And he throws like a ninny And Logan IS a fan
  6. While Callahan is known for being a royal a-hole, isn't Tim Brown a pretty surly dude himself? I agree that the timing is awfully strange.
  7. Oh, speaking of that, this morning on The Score, Dan Hampton spent a good while explaining that because Cutler met with the candidates, that he believes that "Cutler hired Trestman". :banghead: meatballs will be meatballs
  8. Considering that Cutler met with the three finalists, I don't envision Emery having any desire to "cut bait" with Cutler anytime soon. It's more likely that we'll see an extension soon rather than seeing Cutler walk after 2013. But if you're the Ravens, why in the world would you trade Flacco anyhow? Sports journalists in this town never fail to amaze me with their lack of analytical thinking. DDEEEERRRPPPP, BEARS WEATHER, RUN THE FOOTBALL, WE NEED DEFENSE, DDDEEEEEERRRPPP.
  9. I like how the cubs are up 8-2 against {Redacted} with Big Z apparently back in a cubs uniform.
  10. None of which is illegal. Um. True? Did someone say it was illegal? No, but reading between the lines, you guys are making it sound like he should be punished. He should be punished. I think we get a very tall man to take down his pants and make him walk down the street while everybody points and laughs at him. Have it be a tie-in with the NFL draft. Can we add to that by putting a leash around his neck and have a midget walk him around? Because that would be fantastic.
  11. Pete Thamel of SI writes a pretty scathing piece that highlights the missing links. I'm leaning toward Te'o being a complete liar. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20130117/manti-teo-girlfriend-hoax-quotes/
  12. Anyone else getting pretty excited for Rose's return? I have not sat down and watched a game yet this year outside of the Heat game in Miami a couple of weeks ago but once Rose comes back, it sure will be fun to watch how this team develops over the next 3 months before the playoffs start.
  13. I think that might actually be worse. It would only perpetuate this culture of meathead that there is in sports and make it even more difficult for gay people to come out. The overall media storm would be pretty monumental. His combine is going to be media-obnoxious.
  14. you spelled mormon wrong
  15. Brandon McCarthy ‏@BMcCarthy32 . @Oprah I'd like to introduce you to @MTeo_5 I wish we would have signed McCarthy. Not Tom Ricketts ‏@NotTomRicketts If the NFL thing doesn't work out, Manti Te'o can come work in our marketing department anytime.
  16. I think Kelly is going to need at least a few drafts to get the type of players he needs for his system/scheme and even then it'll be a huge crapshoot. The Eagles really bungled their coaching search imo. I'll grant you that it might take time. There have been a few coaches from the college ranks who experienced success lately -- Harbaugh, Carroll. I can see Kelly following in that line. Coincidentally all of them are Pac-12 (Carrol and Harbaugh, Pac-10) coaches. Quite a collection of coaching talent.
  17. uuuuuuhhhhh, i mean. wut. ???????????????????
  18. Kiper has the Bears taking Eifert at 20. Jonathan Cooper goes 18 and Warmack goes 8 (!). If Eifert could remotely be like Aaron Hernadez, that would be a great pick. Although after watching both the Rose Bowl and Alabama/Oregon game, Ertz looked the better of the two. I'm sure some of that had to do with schemes, scenarios, and Alabama being up by 800 points, but that's the .02 cents from my NFL scoutness.
  19. That was quite the turn of events. Looking less and less likely that Lovie gets a head coaching job
  20. Emery is going to hire 7 coaches?
  21. Creighton's 10 point win over Wisconsin in November is starting to look better and better. Thanks, Badgers!
  22. So Hester definitely can't handle it then, and Bennett would be doubtful too? Wait, is Bennett supposed to be not-smart? I figured he would be half-way playbook competent considering the Vanderbilt roots, but him not being smart makes more sense with him being inactive virtually his entire rookie year.
  23. Maybe the new market inefficiency is to have short QB's who can't reach high enough to push their o-lineman? :-k
  24. LeBron returning to Cleveland after 2014 would be quite interesting. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/cleveland-cavaliers-may-target-lebron-james-2014-free-225204694--nba.html If that were to happen, and even though I've soured on him since the whole SuperFriendsdeal, having DWade come to the Bulls after 2014 would be pretty sweet as a sidekick for Rose. I suppose age and skills erosion would be a huge consideration in the Bulls' Wade interest.
  25. Every QB that can run poses that same threat. “If this team doesn’t put points on the board I don’t see how they can win.”
