I'll tell you what, that arena and crowd that the Nets have is f'in awesome. Pretty surprised to see the fans into the game as much as they are.

Gillispie replaced Tubby. Tubby basically replaced Gillispie with an interim thrown in the middle. Um, no. Tubby replaced Pitino at UK. Pitino (the younger) just got hired to replace Tubby at Minnesota. The internets have much information..... Um, yes. Tubby basically replaced Gillispie at TTU, but there was an interim coach for this year, hence the "basically" comment.

Assuming those that are slotted for the first round end up leaving (Zeller, Olapido, Burke, GRIII, among others who could declare), could you make the argument that Iowa could be the preseason favorite for the big ten, or at least third behind OSU and MSU? They looked awfully good last night and look to have figured out how to close teams. I had no idea how many close losses they had during the B1G season.

At first, I read this as "Tubby is a black rubbed." I read that he back rubbed a lot of their fans the wrong way. Getting a back rub the wrong way isn't the worst thing in the world. Picky Minnesota fans.

They might have to wait longer than that. 10 teams is ideal for basketball (18 games, true home and home with everyone). Yeah, I hope the new Big East sticks with 10. They won't, of course. SLU and Dayton are probably going to the Big East in '14-'15. I wonder why they preferred Creighton over SLU for the 10 team league. Creighton's been much better over the past forever and is the best program in their state compared to SLU FWIW, I've read fans from a SLU forum say the President of Creighton is on the board at Marquette and Marquette pushed for Creighton. (Not sure how true that is). But obviously Creighton does have a better resume even if it was in the MVC and even if they've mostly just made the tournament and not won much recently. SLU was also a much better fit from a media standpoint, so its hard to totally understand the decision even when you look at history of success. No arguing SLUs recent history is pretty awful though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Creighton's president is the ex-president of St. Joe's in Philly so he has east coast connections and had a desire for the university to have a bigger presence eastward. Also, Creighton was apparently instrumental (not sure how or why) in getting Marquette into the Big East and so Marquette was pushing hard for Creighton as a gesture of brotherly love. I think something else that really played into Creighton's favor is that they had no exit fee from the Valley, whereas Butler and Xavier likely had some nominal fee which probably applied to SLU as well. And then the decision is SLU or Creighton, and given their respective track record's, Creighton was the better choice for now. I hope SLU will eventually join the conference in the interest of rivalry and distance.

Official now: Xavier, Butler, and Creighton accept invites to the new Big East with play beginning next year. Catholic 7 + 3 will retain Big East name and conference tournament at MSG. Deal with Fox for 12 years @ $600m.

Right...DePaul (back when they werent an embarassment to major college basketball) played an NIT game on campus when Allstate Arena couldn't host the game. Are you sure? I remember Creighton playing an NIT game in 2008, two nights before they hosted first and second round NCAA games.

If he's medically cleared, I see no reason for him to not be playing. If he's worried right now about re-injuring his knee when it is structurally sound, I don't understand how not playing until next season is going to change his frame of mind.

Still think Iowa needs to beat Michigan State (3 seed, right?) tomorrow night to get in. Crazy to think you could argue that if they didn't lose @ Nebbie that all they would have needed was a win tonight to get in.
