    who cares, even if we make it we'll just end up losing in the playoffs and then spend the offseason wondering if we're broken anyways. the bad things that are happening right now are things that are worrying long-term, too. yes, full doom boner. all of our good players are turning to horsefeathers. Even if that were all true, I care because it’s one less playoff spot for the Brewers or Cardinals to claim

    This is turning into last year backwards. Good start, best record and RD in the NL in the first half then .500ish disappointment with negative RD in the second half.

    I’m sure it’s just in my head but during this period of offensive struggle it seems like every single close pitch when the Cubs are hitting goes against us.

    Bote has not looked good at all the last few games

    Kyle was not hit hard at all that inning but he gave up 2 runs. He’s just destined to be that pitcher whose numbers you keep expecting to fall in line with how they are pitching and they never do.

    It’s been discussed and people keep saying his arm at 3B is worse than LaStella’s. Not sure if that’s a fit. No reason to play him at 1B except on a Rizzo off day.

    Yeah, but the fact that Murphy spoke publicly about it and potentially made it harder on closet gay teammates (not to mention gay fans) puts him in a different class of awful.

    Thus begins our 23 days in a row with a game. The last time we had a stretch this long it happened to be the only time in 2016 that the Cubs actually sucked (went 9-15 in a 24 day in a row stretch). Hopefully we fare better this time.

    Can somebody recap? I refuse to go to that board. they're glad the cubs keep mortgaging the future or something typical theo, balls to the wall until the cupboard's empty (to be fair, there are some sane people in there too) This is great: The Red Sox won the World Series the 2nd season after Theo left, and guys that Theo drafted that are still on their year's record breaking team include Betts, Bogarts and Bradley. Yeah he burned up all the resources and then bailed on them.

    So what is the 25 man roster move that is made now... -Bote to AAA? -LaStella DFA? -Russell to DL? -Other?

    Not sure. Have his waivers expired yet? Did someone claim him? the dodgers did but jeff passan is reporting the waiver claim expired

    i am all for great thread titles like this one but can we put "murphy to cubs" or something like that in parentheses so people don't skip past the thread.

    If Yu is any kind of guide for that kind of....forget I said anything. Ha, valid point. It doesn't mean its given or anything but I do think there is a slight advantage for the Dodgers if they get him.

    Sounds like the Dodgers grabbed Harper off waivers. If they can work out a deal, that's bad news for this offseason if you believe that having 2 months of experience in LA will at all affect his odds of signing with the Cubs.
