  1. Heyward's season OPS is getting down to last year's garbage level. He has a .608 OPS over his last 30 games and not much better recently. He's back to being garbage. But we will always have June 2018, wont we J-Hey?
  2. I read that the waiver claim is set to expire an hour before the game so we will know within the next 90 mins whether he is starting or on the Brewers
  3. Yeah just not something you want to see with a 6 run lead and no off days coming up for awhile. I was concerned when it looked like he might have to go 120+ pitches but he got that DP so all in all 114 isn’t too bad. Just would have preferred that inning go to De La Rosa or Rosario
  4. If you had asked me to give a wildly optimistic prediction of Hamels first 5 Cubs starts, I probably would have said a couple of wins and an ERA a little under 3. The fact that we got this is simply incredible. I really hope he keeps this up
  5. Going back to this backup catcher discussion, theres gotta be like a 95% chance the Cubs trade for a backup catcher right? Especially with rosters expanding, it’s a no brainer to grab a Rivera type for a bag of balls. I mean last year they added 2 more catchers to go with Contreras and Caratini
  6. Schwarber and Javy have to be in the top 10 of prettiest dongers
  7. Javy is a pretty solid baseball player if I do say so myself
  8. When Rizzo is hitting well he makes hitting look easy
  9. Bloop double, soft single, soft hit to defensively challenged 2B = run allowed
  10. Awesome and in no way annoying as horsefeathers start
  11. Hamilton is 2-15 lifetime against Hamels. Hamels becomes a Cub and gives up a leadoff bloop double to Hamilton. Sounds about right
  12. Expect a short leash and plenty of Chavez action at the first sign of trouble
  13. Oh darn...what ever will we do without him
  14. Not particularly impressed with how he handled the question, especially his initial 'oh dear' when asked the question
  15. I did question why it took this 3rd MRI to finally find something wrong in the elbow that necessitated shutting him down. If they caught it back in May or whatever, there is a pretty good chance that he is pitching right now.
  16. So I decided to start another Mad Men viewing (3rd time through the series)....we are going to have another Mad Men gif theme before the end of the year right? Or did we decide that themed gif threads no longer work?
  17. Even if we do win the division, it sucks that this run has put the Cardinals in a prime spot for a WC berth, just 1 win away from another NLDS matchup with the Cubs. Not that I'm afraid of them, but I really want to have that playoff series victory bragging rights for as long as possible.
  18. I thought he retired 2-3 years ago. But I guess he's been crushing in in AAA....good for him
  19. The Dodgers are a near image of what we'd be dealing with if we didnt win Game 7 (minus the 108 year stigma continuing). Some of the responses are lamenting on how very little has gone right since the World Series. Others are calling it an aberration and they are set up to be the class of baseball for the next several years.
