  1. We all want them to hold on. But you don't think they are at this point, right? I have no idea. This team has repeatedly looked like garbage for a week or two and then suddenly kicks ass for a week or two. It'll come down to timing, unless they're finally just too beaten up and have too many guys just flailing away to finally swing back into the black like they've managed to do before. They’ve played like a sub .500 team for a full third of the season now, they are exhausted and the Brewers seem to have our number. Doesn’t feel like we are going to pull this off at this point but I’ll happily take all the crap in the world when they prove me wrong
  2. The Cubs offense has a wRC+ of 96 in the second half this year, 19th in baseball
  3. We'll, to be fair, literally everyone on that team is worse at baseball today (whether due to injury or age or whatever satanic forces have gotten Russell and Contreras) than then - except for Javy and somehow Zobrist - and there's no legitimate reason we should've seen that coming. Crap I was going to find 1-2 other exceptions but...you’re right
  4. Hopefully going the 2006 Tigers route and not the 2014 As route
  5. I don’t care if it’s true or not I’m blaming the rainouts and schedule on this potential collapse
  6. Like I want to be like stop playing Russell but all of our hitters suck so it doesn’t matter
  7. The only good thing about a complete collapse is that they will probably fire Chili and hopefully Hickey. 2017 offseason is one of the worst off seasons for 1 team of all time
  8. It’s pretty amazing that this team is still sitting at a -6 RD since the ASB. Very 2006 Red Soxesque
  9. Maybe everyone is just too hurt and tired. Let’s blow the division let the Brewers yuck it up and we can come in as the hunters next year and blow them out of the water
  10. How are they perfectly positioned every time? They outscout us too?
  11. Pure melt down. Everyone is gassed, only 10 more straight days of baseball and 4 more flights after today
  12. Hey 2 of those 4 got on last inning. I sense a turning point
  13. Some wRC+ over the last 30 days: Happ 89 Almora 78 Heyward 75 Bote 52 Contreras 49 Russell 9
  14. Seriously, Lester is probably hitting the best out of those 4 hitters. I understand defense but why but so many garbage hitters in one lineup? Russell and Almora aren’t magically getting better this year. Contreras I have a small hope will recover but am thinking his confidence is just shot and won’t get better until next year
  15. It’s almost like spending 6+ hours a day at a ballpark for 20+ straight days takes a toll on a team
  16. 3-17 since coming off the DL with 3 singles, 0 BB and 5 K.
  17. When is the last time Russell has done anything positive offensively? I’m sure it’s more recently than I think but damn he’s been horsefeathering dog horsefeathers for a really really really really long time. Chiliball sucks
  18. Our non-Hamels starting pitchers probably are. Dunno Russell, Almora and Contreras are pretty vaunted as well
  19. So 2nd place won’t be that bad. Just have to win 1 more game right
  20. “Our guys didn't get a lot of reps in the preseason” -real thing said by Nagy postgame. I don’t know the context but holy horsefeathers
