  1. I don't know what people want him to say. Lou Piniella like tirade? "Guys the Cardinals are luck merchants, our xBA was significantly higher tonight" (it was). He's an even keel boring guy, thats just who he is. Edit: correction, the win expectancy was almost even, but slight edge to St Louis.
  2. I was kind of thinking about this earlier. The 2023 Cubs had an extended hot stretch similar to the start of this year (it just happened June-August) and won at a similar rate as this year's team started the season out. Then suddenly the offense went cold, the pen collapsed and the Cubs played themselves out of the playoffs. 2024 the offense also started out red hot for maybe a month before going into a 2 month extended offensive funk. This offense is better, I truly believe that, but still many of the same players who were involved in the last 2 years of this. I'm kind of a tweener at this point in the overreaction/calling out overreactions battle. If I'm overreacting here please do call me out, it just feels similar. I'm too tired to do my usual statical checking to see how they've looked the last couple weeks as a team, but it seems like every series is 2 games of terrible offense and then one game where they score a healthy amount of runs. Maybe thats just bad luck, like sequencing but over the course of a series instead of a game.
  3. 8-11 in our last 19. Still not a complete bottoming out but this is an extended poor stretch. At least we're not the Mets or Yankees.
  4. That’s 2 series losses in a row, 3 of the last 4 and 4 of the last 6
  5. We are the unluckiest team ever. Of course Nico “ties” the game on the next pitch have the umpires ever heard of a palm? How can your hand touch the bag and then suddenly be off of it? His palm is in contact with the bag
  6. If the Cubs miss the playoffs or go down in the WC round and the offense doesn’t get it together will Jed call the offense broken and then do nothing to fix it in the offseason?
  7. The cubs have been a miserable viewing experience for a bit and I keep watching
  8. I’m sure Seiya will steal second and Tucker will hit a perfectly hit single to score him
  9. Maybe next series the offense can show up for more than 1 of the 3 games
  10. Nice work Dansby. Now we’ll have Gray in the 8th too
  11. Tip my cap those were 2 absolutely perfect pitches to strike out Busch
  12. I like this version of Shaw more than the one from the first 3 months of the season.
  13. This would be the 4th straight series that we scored a majority of our runs in 1 game
  14. My analysis of the game is it’s impossible to take anything from a preseason football game so it was just nice to see the Bears uniforms on my TV again.
  15. At this point if the Brewers play .500 baseball the rest of the season which would be a significant drop off from how they’ve played the last 3 months, the Cubs would need to go 29-17 to win the division outright. Barring a 4-1 Or 5-0 series next week its going to be extremely difficult to win the Central
  16. Bears in midseason form 😂
  17. We horsefeathers get it, he's a kid dressed in an umpires uniform and pretending to make calls throughout the game. Like I know its a blowout but we really don't have to spend the entire game showing him after spending all of yesterday showing him.
