    Sandy Alcantara with 5 ER in 6 IP tonight. I dunno I think I’m out on him unless he’s cheaper than what is being discussed. I have no doubt he’s fixable but he can’t be our big acquisition at this point.

    saw the Reds beat the Phillies today. Sort of a mixed result since it keeps the Reds close ("only" 7 games back!!!) but puts the Cubs 2 games ahead of the Phillies for an NLDS bye

    Meh, not sure why it's a big deal. Rizzo striking out Freeman and Zobrist striking out Molina in his final MLB AB are treasured memories for me.

    19 hours ago the Cubs start a game where they scored 1 run, scoring that run with a ghost runner without the benefit of getting on base. About 16 hours later the Cubs have broken the franchise record for most HRs in a single game.

    Ho hum another 10 run game for the Cubs offense. That was a blast by Dansby. Thank you PCA for not stealing 2nd which we know would have prevented that.

    FWIW I believe tomorrow is a bullpen game for them. But yeah that is a huge lack of usage...maybe they'll be rusty and it will backfire for them.

    Absolutely, super excited about his improvement this year. I'm just saying it's not an exact comparison. I remember Rizzo also mightily struggling vs lefties early on as a Cub so there's certainly a path to improve if he is actually given opportunities.

    I mean at this point it is for the better but I can't believe they kept Mikolas in the game in the 6th. But now they are basically waving the white flag and keeping the pen fresh I guess. Unfortunately for them Rea is also cruising and will likely go 7

    To be fair to Riz, he had entire seasons where he had a higher OPS vs. LHP than RHP. Busch obviously has time (if given the opportunity) to improve against lefties but Rizzo as it stands today was more complete hitter for that reason.

    I rarely hear discussion on this but at what point do we start thinking about a Seiya extension? A bit of an interesting discussion because I doubt he wants to play DH in his next contract so maybe he won’t want to engage with the Cubs until they see what happens with Tucker

    Yeah in the 2nd to last series of the season in Pittsburgh I believe. Game was tied 1-1 and was late enough to be an official game when it was rained out. Because the Pirates were already eliminated and the Cubs already clinched HFA in the NL, there was no need to reschedule so it was a very rare tie. If the game had any meaning it would have been suspended and finished.
