    I’m shocked that Descalso couldn’t come up with that throw and it immediately led to an Astros run. This team is just playing so great right now

    The funny thing about Kimbrel is that he’s available, the Cubs have an unbelievably glaring need for relievers, and the Cubs are a large market team that spent almost nothing to upgrade their team last winter and they fancy themselves as a contender. Yet I really don’t expect the Cubs to be a strong contender for him.

    The Cubs don’t suck but the pitching is a legit big concern to me. Cubs have no power arms in their rotation and are relying on 3 guys with either major injury concerns or are in their mid-30s. Their bullpen has a bunch of AAA arms and a couple of guys who might be considered slightly below average closers. And again no power arms. They have and will pitch better than they have the last 10 days but I’m willing to bet the true skill level is a little closer to this than the dominant period (but then again I can be pessimistic). And if it is, it’s not just 1-2 little fixes that need to be made

    Man I wish we had just 1 starter who I could get excited about starting. Don't get me wrong, I don't dread any of our starters pitching except maybe Darvish and all of them are capable of having good even great starts, but we don't have that ace who you feel confident is going to give you a great start most nights. This year every day I see the starter and think 'ok cool'

    We're not using whatever sorcery the Astros are using that triples all their pitchers' spin rates, so we probably would've just gotten broke Verlander anyway It annoys me to read about teams finding these competitive edges (if that’s really what’s happening here). Another example is the Brewers psychic positioning coach. I really didn’t think with our FO I’d ever feel like we were behind on these things. Of course I really don’t know anything about what’s really going on behind the scenes and I could be completely wrong, just how it feels sometimes
