  1. this is quickly turning into a train wreck. It sucks but I really can't see the season continuing on much longer if we're already having this many challenges. Hope I'm wrong, but in the meantime I will enjoy the heck out of every game the Cubs play, knowing it might be the last.
  2. I believe this is a standing call they have every week. That doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t cancel the season, just that the call wasn’t scheduled specifically to address this situation.
  3. I’m guessing the Cubs game is cancelled tonight too. After seeing how quickly the virus spread amongst the Marlins, i wouldn’t be shocked to see a bunch of Reds get positive results too as their Opening Day 5-7 hitters have all either tested positive or missed yesterdays game with an “illness”. If I’m the Cubs, no way do I take the field tonight
  4. So the 4 players that tested positive for COVID on the Marlins were almost certainly all in the clubhouse and/or possibly played in Saturday’s game, as the tests that were positive were administered on Friday and the results not delivered until Saturday night. So it’s possible both the Marlins and Phillies were exposed. The Phillies are staying home to play the Yankees while the Marlins are going to Miami to play the Orioles. If there was any significant exposure, this may spread fast. Meanwhile, Moustakas on the Reds also tested positive. He played in this weekends series at GABP, where the Cubs will be playing the next 4 days..
  5. Yes and no for me. Yes winning a home series against one of the 3 other division contenders is very important but with 8 teams making the playoffs my only focus is getting to 31 wins, which I think will get us in. Don’t get me wrong I hope for more and in some respects expect more wins but there is a pretty solid margin for error this year. If you assume the Marlins, Pirates and Giants aren’t really competing, that only leaves 4 teams that are even quasi trying that won’t make the playoffs. This includes teams that I’m pretty confident we’re better than like Colorado, Arizona and to be honest Milwaukee
  6. Yep, I’d rather be donging some other Brewers reliever. Didn’t Grimm have a weird Twitter thing when he was done with Chicago? Arguing with fans or something? Yeah he had a way of finding his name in twitter conversations. Weird look. I’ve always liked him because he went out of his way to entertain my daughter when we walked by the bleacher bullpen window a few years ago (during his really bad season) and then him and Carl made a security lady chase us down to give us a ball after we were walking away.
  7. I almost feel bad. Grimm barely made the Brewers roster and he’s probably not going to stay on it much longer.
  8. horsefeathering right. Every time Willy is crushing it in his career he is held back from a great season due to injuries. Here’s hoping he can last the whole season and have an awesome 60 games+Playoffs
  9. not a DH expert but isn't Phegley now the DH, and he can still come in and catch if needed in an emergency but that is when you lose the DH. Isn't that true? You can PH the DH with someone from the bench, it's just when the DH comes into the field that you lose the DH, I thought. Ah you may be right. Good call
  10. I know you are talking about Ross selecting which pen arm to bring in that cause the game to collapse but since Ross I was mentioned I thought it was interesting to pinch hit his backup catcher (playing as DH) with his 3rd catcher was interesting on a 95 degree day. Now we don’t have a DH or a backup catcher. Schwarber and Javy could move there in a pinch but they’ve also been on the field all game which isn’t ideal
  11. To the umps credit, he’s now calling strikes 2 inches outside the other side of the zone
  12. Damn come on KB let’s get a hit before the end of the homestand
  13. Yeah, his first AB was a ground double down the line
  14. Counsel has been managing each of these games like they are playoff games. I’m not saying that’s a bad or a good thing, just an observation
  15. Ump has called that pitch 2 inches off the plate a strike about 6-7 times so far. So annoying
  16. There is no position in the order that is low enough for him. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk I mean he had a wRC+ of 101 last year and 99 the year before so he’s basically been a league average hitter the last 2 seasons
  17. I’m putting “discuss COVID in the context of this MLB season” stuff in this thread. This is certainly a concern now that games are being played
  18. If these scores hold (and the only one in question is Arizona leading San Diego 1-0 in the 4th), the only undefeated teams after day 2 (and change) will be the Astros and *groan* the Cardinals. There are currently 22 teams with a 1-1 record /mildlyinteresting
  19. It’s kind of crazy. Due to how long he’s sucked and the fact that he’s been on a middling west coast team, it feels like he retired like 7 years ago. He had one of the most dominant decades in baseball history and for the past 6-7 years, no one talks about him or really thinks about him at all unless you are an Angels fan or are playing the Angels. He’s just kind of there and has been for awhile.
  20. If Chatwood can keep em to 6 walks or less we have a good shot
  21. Damn you really are basically just here for the baseball discussions. Haven’t really posted here since October
