  1. They have to figure out a better way to reconcile the difference between resume and NET rating/advanced metrics when seeding teams. Really doesn’t seem fair for a 1 seed to face a top 15 team in the 2nd round
  2. Quintessential OMC post
  3. Geez...until looking at a bracket, I didn't realize how well things went for Baylor yesterday. The remaining seeds in their bracket: -3 Arkansas -5 Villanova (w/o their best player) -6 Texas Tech -7 Florida -9 Wisconsin -13 North Texas -15 Oral Roberts Going to have a 2018 Michigan like run to the Final Four (Michigan faced 14, 6, 7, 9, 11 before getting crushed by 1 Villanova).
  4. So far the spirit of Purdue inside Mackey has taken out MSU and OSU. Thank god Wisconsin is breaking the trend otherwise I’d start to get nervous for tomorrow.
  5. Yes in the draft but the 4 QBs he’s brought in with the intention to at least compete to start are Glennon, Trubisky, Foles and Dalton. I can’t remember who else was available when Glennon signed but I remember thinking it was odd that he zeroed in on Glennon almost immediately with other options available. He seems to have a blind eye towards scouting QBs.
  6. If the QB he moves up for is the guy, it won't matter. I don't see an issue with this. Of course, I also think Justin Fields and Trey Lance (possible trade up targets) are as talented and have more upside than any QB potentially in the 2022 draft. Yeah maybe by blind luck he might get the right guy but I don’t at all trust he will get the right guy
  7. Now Pace will trade a 2022 1st to move up and take a QB, and that pick will be top 5
  8. At least we still have Robert Quinn
  9. What will the Mitch truthers say now? There were definitely bears fans out there that were waiting for him to be a starter somewhere so he could show his struggles were nagys fault
  10. Unfortunately for Dalton and Foles, they had to face good defenses last year
  11. I know Russ has like $13m in dead cap space that goes away if he's traded after June 1, so maybe that is when the Bears re-engage. But I can't see how the Seahawks would be interested in making a deal after the draft as they lose an entire year of a potential rebuild. Unless theres a handshake agreement and the Bears pick who the Seahawks want them to. Or unless the Bears do end up drafting a QB that is mildly attractive to the Seahawks, making them more willing to trade with us as they'd get a potential answer at QB as part of the return.
  12. I was proud of the Bears for willing to risk better options going off the table to try to land a HR like Watson or Wilson. But those don't come to fruition and they went for the safest low ceiling QB out there. Ride that horsefeathers out and if you dont have a QB by draft throw some picks at it. I'm sure you'll have to pay a crapload because everyone knows Pace is in desperate need of a QB but whatever he would probably overpay regardless
  13. What rookie? The Bears dont draft QBs with 1 notable exception. I doubt they use a draft pick on a 3rd round QB or something. They should but they wont
  14. I think it's a sign Russ deal is dead, perhaps because the Bears decided they had to horsefeathers or get off the pot and move to plan D. But if next week it magically reappeared, they could find a way. 40M QB room be damned.
  15. Congrats to Pace on building a team with a ceiling of divisional round playoff participant. I feel bad being disappointed about the Bears possibly getting Wentz. I'd kill for that experiment right now.
  16. I am convinced that they will offer like 2 1sts and a 2nd to trade up 7 spots and draft Mac Jones if they dont sign a FA or trade for the big names. I think there is 0 shot that Foles is the starter day 1 unless its to ease a drafted QB into action. That would definitely be a lot for 7 slots from 20 to 13. Hope not. Just going off Pace priors it's more likely he gives up an annoying, but smaller amount for a jump from like 20 to 18 (jump Washington). Or he'll give up all the picks for Wilson. I was exaggerating, but I do think if we dont have a QB by draft time Pace will be desperate enough to over pay to move up and teams will sense that.
  17. All of these QB rumors surrounding the Bears is much ado about nothing, isn't it? Going to end up with horsefeathering Nick Foles as the Bears QB aren't we? At the rate things are going, yes. I fully expect them to pull a Hayden Simpson in the draft when they're unable to trade up for Mac Jones, panic, and grossly overreach on a QB at 20. I am convinced that they will offer like 2 1sts and a 2nd to trade up 7 spots and draft Mac Jones if they dont sign a FA or trade for the big names. I think there is 0 shot that Foles is the starter day 1 unless its to ease a drafted QB into action.
  18. i see people are trying to justify Dalton signing. This is why its stupid to give Pace and Nagy and 1 year mandate. They will take a big swing for a Russell Wilson but at the end of the day they need to at least incrementally improve to potentially keep their jobs. Id rather go big for a QB or just rebuild but Pace doesnt have that luxury
  19. Ugh. This franchise will never have a legit good QB will they?
  20. 2-4-1 in their last 7 with a -11 GD. Competition stepped up and the Hawks have not so far
  21. Reports of potential replacement QBs in Seattle has to be a good thing right
  22. Anyone remember which website it was that allows you to build a bracket based on blind resume comparisons? Always enjoyed filling one out that way.
  23. Strange flex since they both are. Stop making me dislike the Illini. I caught myself almost rooting for Ohio State today and had to remind myself that I generally like the Illini and I hate Ohio State. Being an innocent bystander in this Michigan hate fest by Illini fans is frustrating since I just want to enjoy my team It's my dislike of Juwan Howard seemingly ducking those games and dissing Northwestern and Maryland along the way. I don't believe he's this sanctimonious great guy the media falls all over themselves to portray either, I'm probably wrong. It's just my irrational hatred of the Fab Five coming through. No he’s not. I think he’s a good dude but can let competition get to him. I do think there was some gamesmanship for not returning for Illinois game and not rescheduling the other games but it was already a brutal enough stretch that our best player had a stress fracture injury that will likely torpedo our season. Didn’t realize there was a lingering hate for F5, especially one of the players that was not found to receive money but everyone has their reasons
