  1. Phil Rogers throwing some interesting info out there
  2. Lol damn the Bears waived Rodney Adams
  3. I'm not sure if this is the proper post-mortem thread, but if you for some reason want to read more about the Cubs trading away the entire identity of the team over a 24 hour period, here's an in depth article from the Athletic: https://theathletic.com/2801767/2021/09/01/no-reason-to-go-halfway-behind-the-scenes-of-the-cubs-trade-deadline-that-turned-the-organization-upside-down/
  4. Psh not even a top 30 prospect
  5. you're wrong. like, not even within the vicinity of not wrong. and i know you think you know everything. sitting justin fields for a whole year is malpractice. Didn’t see the entire year thing, that’s not happening. Only way it does is if Dalton wins 12. Which also is not happening. Anyway, pace and Nagy signed secret extensions and won’t be pressured into starting fields before week 4. Not sure about the secret extensions thing though it wouldn’t surprise me but I also think that at the very least Dalton is going to get 3 games. Nagy isn’t going to swallow his pride and admit he was wrong after 1 or even 2 weeks. I think it will be like Mike Glennon, who had to be a complete embarrassing disaster over 4 games for Fox to pull the plug on him. 1 bad game - “we’re not going to make rash decisions based on one game. 2 bad games - “we saw some things we really liked from Andy today and believe we’re headed in the right direction. 3 bad games - “we’re going to go back and watch some tape and make the best decision for this football team”. Week 4 - Justin Fields starts
  6. *nearly enough credit* just means the Cowboys have gotten too much credit right? Stylistically very different though. The 2 Cowboys QBs in the 21st century would be both in top 3 of Bears QBs all time. substanceBears have done as well as Dallas but for some reason people pretend dallas has been a quality program this whole time and the bears a joke. The Lovie era is grossly undervalued. Who gives a horsefeathers about style points when it’s no better at the end of the day? The Lovie era would look so different if the Bears won their last game of 2008 against a crappy Texans team, if Cutler didn’t break his thumb when the Bears were 7-3 in 2011 and if they weren’t one of the 5% of 10-6 teams that don’t make the playoffs. Shoulda woulda coulda but that was an 8 year run where they were a legit playoff caliber team in 6 of the seasons. Heck throw in Trestmans first season with Lovie’s remnants when they were a bad all out blitz playcall from the playoffs. Sure many of these would be borderline playoff teams but it changes the perception of the tenure greatly.
  7. Not sure but I read on Twitter a couple days ago he had a no -COVID related illness
  8. Horsted was used as a WR throughout college so I’m guessing he could fill in there. But yes the Bears seem extremely thin in some areas (WR, CB) and way over staffed in others (LB) Here's an option:
  9. Wait, the Bears cut Thomas Graham too? Cut both 6th rounders in the draft. I thought Graham looked good in the preseason games, maybe I'm wrong. Bears had 7 draft picks, one of them is probably out for the season, and 2 others have been cut. Granted they only had 2 picks in the first 4 rounds, but just kind of funny given the praise the Bears got for their draft, and not just Fields and Jenkins, many people seemed to love the Newsome and Graham picks. Like what the horsefeathers is going on at CB?
  10. I already read the article so I know the answer but I would have known without it. That game was so awful but the Bears were in control the whole way because Forte ran for like 800 yards and the defense did the rest. When you look at it through the lens that Bears have had the most consistently bad QB situation in the league, it almost feels like the Bears have overachieved over that 35 year time period. 1 super bowl win, 1 other super bowl appearance, 2 other conference title game appearances, 13 total playoff appearances. All done with Jay Cutler as the best QB in that timeframe. I can already see someone like jersey replying and saying the Bears last 35 years should not be looked as overachieving in any way. Don't get me wrong, the Bears performance in that timeframe is probably within the bottom 10 of the league and should be viewed that way. But somehow we've been able to cobble together the little success that we did have over that span while handicapped at the most important position in sports the entire time.
  11. This seems a little strange of a cut. I know he was injured early on and I didn't see a ton of great stuff from him in the preseason but it seems a bit unusual for a 6th round pick to be cut before their rookie season. Especially because Nagy wants his kick returners to run every kick back. Also the Bears released Trufant and and Riley Ridley. Trufant is strange just because of how thin the Bears are at that position. Ridley makes sense though... Ridley, Wims and Newsome all cut in recent days. Looks like Rodney Adams and Jon'Vea Johnson are both going to make the team. Really love when someone like Adams play themselves onto the roster. There are whispers about the Bears possibly cutting Trevathan but haven't seen anything yet.
  12. Oh god... https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2021/8/31/22648501/chicago-bears-qb-ranking-jay-cutler-mitch-trubisky-justin-fields
  13. The Patriots just dropped Cam Newton meaning that Lance and Fields are the only 1st round QBs not starting Week 1. The 49ers have a QB that started in the Super Bowl 2 years ago, the Bears have Andy Dalton
  14. Speaking of learning from practices: Scout team?
  15. He had a HOF like 5 year run from 2008-2012, I think he approached 8 WAR seasons a couple of times. But yeah outside of that he's been anywhere from decent to above average. I almost feel like the media has forced this narrative so much that it went from 'should Yadi be in the HOF' to 'Yadi will definitely be in the HOF' over the last couple of years, and its not like hes done much in the last 3 years to improve his candidacy.
  16. Interesting article about the approach to developing 1st round QBs. It's heavy on 'sit the QB for a year if you can afford to' but its a good read overall https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2021/8/30/22647741/nfl-quarterbacks-nature-nurture-trevor-lawrence-zach-wilson-trey-lance-justin-fields Again I'm dubious about some of this, and don't think the Bears are in a situation to sit Fields but its interesting to read different perspectives.
  17.  Seems a bit dramatic
  18. lmao, reading the Mets Refugee thread on this: https://www.metsrefugees.com/forum/index.php?threads/baez-lindor-thumbs-down-celebration-directed-at-fans.145813/
  19. Javy going to war with Mets fans The replies are fun
  20. White Sox outscore the Cubs 51-30 over the 6 games this year lol
  21. I think that’s extreme. Even at this years performance Hendricks is a solid 5th starter who has had some elite starts this year, and this is the outlier season (hopefully)
  22. Hendricks is probably a guy that needs to spend more time studying opposing hitters and aligning his mechanics to be successful so yeah the 6.49 ERA since the deadline is a little alarming though he’s mixed as many good performances as bad performances
  23. It's been 22 PA's. Breaking update: since then he's 5-11, 2B, HR, 5 BB 1 K This is already the highest WAR season of his career despite 200+ less PAs than his 2nd and 3rd best seasons
  24. Hendricks has given up 2 HR already and the Cubs are down 3-0
