  1. It's unbelievable. It's not like Sammy has to go to the park and get honored. You are just saying 'this dude did something significant for the Cubs and we are recognizing it with a plaque'. Every time Tom is asked about Sammy in an interview he has an angry tone in his voice like Sammy personally harmed him. He's never going to admit to doing steroids, but we know he did them and he knows we know he did them. He apologized for walking out on the team. Just horsefeathering move on and recognize someone who was a big part of a generation of Cubs baseball.
  2. ERA over the last 11 starts is now 10.71, and 13.98 over the last 6 starts.
  3. I'm guessing he was inducted into the 80's HOF, which started right after he sold the team to the Tribune Co. Probably as a way to honor the original ownership when the sale was still fresh in people's minds. Though I guess if the Ricketts can remove Sammy Sosa and Cap Anson why choose to keep that bozo in the HOF? Probably because the Wrigley family were/are historically big donors to Republican causes
  4. lol, so the Cubs announced their team HOF inductees. Apparently they are all from the previous Cubs team HOF from the 80s (41 players), or the Cubs Walk of Fame from the 90s (9 players) So who was in that 90s Walk of Fame? Well there were actually 11 players inducted in the walk of fame according to this: Cap Anson Ernie Banks Jack Brickhouse Harry Caray Andre Dawson Ferguson Jenkins Yosh Kawano Ryne Sandberg Ron Santo Sammy Sosa Hack Wilson Can you guys the 2 players who were in the Cubs Walk of Fame who are not in this new Hall of Fame? I'll give you a hint, one time is a noted bigot and racist, and the other is the franchise leader in HRs. Link to the inductees: https://cubs.fanportal-mlb.com/hof/?partnerID=redirect-chc-halloffame
  5. Hopefully this ends the run of historic futility and we can just level off at being a bad team that I can mostly ignore.
  6. I never expected the drop off between Rizzo and another 1B to be so obvious. It's not like I'm even watching a ton of the games either, but when I do he's usually botching a scoop or not covering enough ground to his right.
  7. This guy is such a douche but its funny to see him ranting like a fan because he doesn't know what else to do.
  8. It's been half a season. A half of a season in which the team has gotten worse over time and everybody is on the chopping block. I really don't think you can compare Len growing on you over time to your impression of Boog in on half season of a garbage team. Plus its hard when he only goes like 75% of the games, and in about 50% of the games he does his lead color guy isn't there and/or there is a rotating 3rd person in the booth. How did the Cubs organization miss the part where consistency in the broadcast team is important in fans enjoying the overall broadcast. I don't hate any of the PBP guys theyve had this year (though cant say the same about the color guys) but they don't feel like Cubs broadcasters like we've been historically accustomed to with guys like Len, Pat, Stone, Harry, Jack, etc.
  9. lol
  10. Same thing with Schwarber whenever he played at GABP.
  11. Had no idea the Cubs were playing a game that started before noon but here we are. Happ hits a HR and the Cubs are up 1-0.
  12. Sad, I saw this tweet from Johneshwy last night and thought he was saying he couldnt believe the Cubs won, but it was probably a reaction to his DFA. Strangely enough he has a ton of support in the replies from Mets fans. He had a 0.3 bWAR for the Mets earlier this season so apparently he did something endearing there:

  14. Since the deadline the Cubs are 2-2 when Hendricks starts and 1-13 when anyone else starts
  15. Cubs Win! fly the W!
  16. 2 runs on 11 hits. The more things change the more they stay the same
  17. Montgomery Inn in general is solid
  18. Might be our best chance to get a win for awhile
  19. I guess 13 ERs in your last 1.2 IP is not good
  20. How tone deaf are these bozos? Cry poor, sell off all their talent, push to build a sportsbook, and now hold a party to celebrate their self-perceived awesomeness including a plaque while their team is 2-18 in their last 20 games.
  21. I would think that a fringe playoff contender who wants to show their fans they did something at the deadline would have considered Davies and his 3.31 ERA in 17 starts prior to the deadline. Yes it was a flukish ERA but it's something. I get the idea that someone has to pitch for the Cubs, but given his lack of future value to the team I would have guessed they would have given him up for as little as a lottery ticket. A team like the Philadelphia, who is in a dogfight for the division and dealing with starting pitcher injuries, should see Davies as an upgrade over Matt Moore and Chase Anderson, no?
  22. Robinson Chirinos with a clutch 2 out knock!! I bet Zaidman called it like the Cubs just won the World Series.
  23. Let’s hope the team doesn’t really seem like the Iowa Cubs next year
  24. I read this post at the EXACT same time Boog made the same comparison. Mind is blown
  25. This is super interesting. Steele keeps getting into trouble every inning but then he makes some really really nice pitches to get out of it Edit: Nevermind not that time
