  1. Yeah but like I said before I don’t know if I see Hahn or the White Sox organization as the kind that will stay ahead of the curve and make good decisions more often than not. I guess time will tell For example, they hired Tony LaRussa. Yes there is a belief that Hahn didn’t want to hire him but that says a lot about the organization
  2. The Denny Green AZ game, where he stole the ball from the RB and Tillman took it for a TD. I think that pretty much drove poor Denny insane and the resulting press conference after the game is legendary. That's the one I really remember. for me, that one comes to mind, the fumble return at the falcons in his second year (although all he really did was pick it up and run), and just him chasing vick around in that freezing cold 2005 game when rex took over at halftime. one that also always comes to mind but wasn't that big of a deal was his TD catch when he lined up at TE... i think that was against the redskins in 01? The Arizona game he had 19 freaking tackles. He was a monster and all over the place I don't know what is even meant by signature plays. Brady juked Urlancher in an otherwise meaningless regular season game against the Pats, got trucked by Bettis in an otherwise meaningless regular season game against the Steelers, and the play in the NFCC game he made a nice play to get the pick and got into a position where only Rodgers could stop him from scoring a TD. Why pick 3 random bad plays and forget all the ridiculous plays he made in his career as others are pointing out. Also, damn you for making me defend Urlacher
  3. As Cubs fans have seen, the easy part is acquiring talent when the expectations are very low and you can afford to make mistakes and grab players off the scrap heap and give them playing time to find hidden gems because you are tanking. In 2017, the Cubs had 8 dudes on our team that Sox fans would trade anyone on theirs for. Things change quickly. If the Sox want to win and sustain winning they have to hit on a high percentage of their moves from here on, otherwise they will end up with a flawed offense of good hitters, middling farm system and no room to add payroll. We are lucky the Cubs put it together and won, but did not succeed in our goal to build a sustainable consistent winner that does not require a teardown rebuild. Time will tell if the Sox can fare differently, but I will say I was never a big fan of Hahn. He did the easy part but I'm not sure if he can do the hard part.
  4. Can you believe that the Astros now have players who are 3rd (Altuve - 20), 5th (Springer - 19) and 10th (Correa - 17) in all time post season HRs?
  5. If it were just the White Sox players? Yes. But unfortunately they're packaged with their fan base. Therefore, their fans' misery must be greater than or equal to mine. And I'm a Cubs fan, so... Eh. I'm in my mid 30s. Most of my friends are Sox fans, but we've gotten past the whole Cubs vs Sox thing. Sucked in 2005, but whatever now. Feels like forever ago, but we're still only 5 years out from winning ours. It'll flip again. La Russa sucks, and he's going to screw up something here at some point (if they make it through today), but there's like 8 dudes on their team that I'd trade anyone on ours for, both talent wise and personality wise. I agree with this. 2005 was brutal but since we won I really don't care. Their fans get on my nerves and occasionally trigger me but at the same time I kind of like having a little sports excitement in town and as much as it sucks when they clobber us the team is super likable. I have no problem pulling for them among what is a pretty unlikable field of teams.
  6. Hmm I don't remember the blocked FG in 2010. I remember the Bears forced a late fumble to secure the win. You may be thinking of 2008 when it was like 3 degrees out and the Bears needed a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Bears blocked a FG very late to win that one, but of course they lost the next week to miss the playoffs. How about the 2007 win where the 5-9 Bears pulverized the 12-2 Packers https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200712230chi.htm
  7. yeah they may be my second choice, but again their fans drive me nuts someitmes. For example the Cusack horsefeathers on twitter the other day (though I recognize that's barstool BS). But I agree they are fun to watch.
  8. Yep none of these teams remaining really thrill me. Boston and SF have won 7 of the last 16 world series, and call me a callous jerk but I haven't found enjoyment in watching the Bryants and Schwarbers of the world have postseason success when they should be Cubs. Also Boston annoys me because they are able to rebuild on the fly without having to trade almost every single quality player on their roster like another team I know. Atlanta just bores me without Ocuna, though would be cool for Freeman to get a title. I don't hate the White Sox but I'd rather not enable their fans to be jackasses. And obviously Houston, Milwaukee and the Dodgers don't need an explanation. I guess go Braves but with mild enthusiasm at best.
  9. All I've got are those final Favre years vs. Lovie, a home MNF win in like 2010, the Thanksgiving game that one year (2015?), and that 2018 home win. I'm sure I missed one in there somewhere (maybe?) Didn't a pretty bad Bears team go up to GB on Christmas night one year? Maybe 2004 and win? The Bears clinched the division title in 2005 by going to GB and beating the Packers on XMas. You might be mixing together that and the Thanksgiving night game where a bad Bears team did go up to GB and win, unless there was another xmas game I'm forgetting. Edit: Looks like you edited your post to remove pretty bad. So yes that happened. It was Grossman's first start of the season, he was ok and Briggs had a pick 6 of Favre.
  10. To be fair, yes those are the only 2 games with teams that both have winning records but there is also Chiefs/Titans and Washington/Packers that would be in consideration too. While the Bears have a winning record, I don't know if the general public is convinced they are any good and/or will have a winning record after playing GB/SF. Hard to pass up giving Brady another night game though, plus Fields first primetime game.
  11. The Packers O-line has been banged up and is mostly inexperienced. But they've played A LOT better since week one. The should have back Elgton Jenkins and hopefully Josh Meyers for the Bears. And then the should be getting Bakhtiari available the following week. What are the prospects of Eddie Goldman, Akiem Hicks and Germain Ifedi being able to suit up Sunday? I don’t think Goldman is hurt anymore. Hicks has a groin issue and didn’t even take the team plane to LV this week so I’d be surprised if he played. No idea about Ifedi
  12. Line is Packers -4 which is reasonable but crazy after how badly the Packers looked in week 1. Since then they've blown out Detroit, won a close one in SF, shut down Pittsburgh, and beat the Bengals by the same margin as the Bears, albeit in Cincinnati. The Bears probably wont win but if they can it will give them a huge boost in the division race.
  13. Favorite Fields play this week.... converting a 3rd and 12 on a play with 8 defenders dropping back. It was the drive right after the Raiders scored their TD and were down 5. Don't convert and the momentum is squarely on LV's side. Perfect dart through a tight window to Mooney and we get the first down. Drive eventually ends with a FG.
  14. While the defense has done their job of late, both Goff and Carr have missed multiple big throws to open receivers in the last 2 games. Interested to see how the defense looks against Rodgers who doesn’t miss those throws more often than not
  15. Sorry Wrigley said something about the Titans run based offense and it got in my head (plus I have AJ brown in fantasy and it’s driving me nuts that they don’t pass more). Nothing wrong with being Ryan Tannehill, but my hopes and expectations for Fields are higher But this year? I wouldn’t mind at all if they let Fields be as productive as Tannehill while still being run based
  16. The rule is 2 bases from where the runner was at the time of the pitch. Thought maybe there was some discretion when the ball is bouncing away from the wall, deflects off a defender and goes the other direction over the wall.
  17. Interesting play in the 14th inning of the Rays-Red Sox game. With a runner on 1st and 2 outs, there was a drive to right center that bounced off the warning track, deflected off the fielder and over the wall. The umpires called it a ground rule double and the Rays didn’t score. The Red Sox then walked it off with a 2 run HR which makes it a bit less controversial I wonder if the Rays can protest the game. I’m not sure what the rule is in that situation but the runner was rounding 3rd when the ball deflected off Renfroe. He clearly would have scored.
  18. Some good points. And I know you’ve already agreed with me about the playcalling today but it’s the perfect example. Why be so predictable on 3rd and short and let 2 drives die because you running it straight between the tackles? Why run on like 90% of your first downs. Let fields do a little more and maybe we put away that game in the 3rd quarter
  19. It’s what happens when you are developing a rookie QB but also trying to win to save your job. The Texans have no expectations for winning so horsefeathers it let him loose. I’m not saying the Bears should tank the season or anything but he’s playing conservative because the team is excelling at running the ball and the defense is holding up. And it’s fine to try to win games but winning games and developing Fields should be priority 1 and 1a, but for Nagy it’s 1 and 2 plus he already has a natural conservative mindset
  20. I just feel like eventually we’re going to be in situations where we can’t play this kind of football and expect to win. This isnt 1998. Plus ultimately I just want to develop fields this year, not give him the 2005 Kyle Orton game plan. I know this is an outlier but look at Herbert coming in and averaging 300 yards per game. Our circumstances are a bit different but playing as conservative as we were today bothers me. Let Fields throw, he’ll make some mistakes but whatever, he’ll learn from them and ultimately both Fields and the Bears will be better for it. Yea they were too conservative today. But they aren't going to dink and dunk their way to 300 pass yards successfully either. And if the run game is picking up big chunks they just aren't going to get a ton of throws. So just hopefully they are using a big chunk of those throws on big plays. If they pass 300 yards a game it's because they fell behind early. That's just who they are this year. I just think there’s a clear deviation between how Nagy is handling Fields and how everyone else is handling their rookie QB. For instance here are pass attempts for every rookie QB start this year in order of least to most attempts: 17 - Fields 17 - Fields 20 - Fields 21 - Mills 24 - Lawrence 28 - Mills 29 - Mills 29 - Lance 30 - Jones 30 - Jones 32 - Wilson 33 - Wilson 33 - Lawrence 33 - Lawrence 34 - Lawrence 34 - Wilson 35 - Wilson 37 - Wilson 39 - Jones 40 - Jones 51 - Jones 51 - Lawrence I know I know, all of those teams are losing or have different styles of play and none of the QBs are exactly excelling but they are giving their QBs opportunities to make plays and learn. Maybe it’s a ridiculous argument. I admit I might be sounding dumb right now. I just hope and expect Fields to be a QB that is the reason the Bears win games, not a Ryan Tannehill. Plenty of time to get to that point but he’s not being used like that right now.
  21. I don't know, teams are averaging like 4.5/carry against the Pack and it's clearly this team's strength too. Hopefully they find some more downfield shots, but this is probably going to be a low pass attempt team at its best this year and I'm actually okay with that. I think the D is capable of holding the Pack to a few scores.
  22. Win on Wednesday otherwise we’re back into disaster territory
  23. Mack was a beast today. Reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated
