  1. Well, it happens rarely enough (if ever) to garner criticism. If this happened all the time after Thursday games, there wouldn't be a stink about it If the coach of a winning team did it and wasn't caught on video messing with a woman that wasn't his wife we wouldn't even know about it. Doesn't matter if we know about it. A new coach who has already made a series of questionable decisions and is trying to get the team to be fully 100% committed and bought in is not flying back on the team plane with the players after a tough loss? Seems like strange behavior. But I've never been on a professional football team so I could be way off. The optics just seem strange
  2. 5 man protection says otherwise One thing I noticed when looking at snap counts is that the Bears used an average of 1.7 TE per play last week (99/58) compared to 1.1 against the Browns (51/45). That could also just be the heavy emphasis on the run game last week, but I'd like to think the line held up better because we used Max protect more (and...its the Lions)
  3. To give you an idea of how little Pace values 6th round draft picks, 2 of the 6th round picks from May's draft didn't even make the roster this year.
  4. updates about Urban (thread) Owner addressed in a statement: Needless to say the entire world is laughing at the Jaguars
  5. Pace clearly buying low on Grant
  6. like what is the point of this even?
  7. It would help if Big Blue would start doing its job in their biggest annual game, but... Michigan needs a quarterback They have one but he’s a true freshman and only plays a couple plays a game
  8. One advantage is that it's a short week for the Raiders, as they play on MNF tonight. I think the line I saw earlier was Raiders -5.5. We'll see...if this one is tough then certainty the 3 after won't be any easier (GB, @TB, SF), should probably win this one if they want any hope of competing for a playoff spot.
  9. They'll be fine if they win out. It was very early in the season and Oregon will finish with a decent resume. Ohio State has recovered from early non-conference losses to make the playoffs before and they still have games left against Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan to fatten up their resume. I guess the key is 'if they win out'. They've looked a lot better of late and maybe are putting it together but they looked really shaky the first few weeks of the season so we'll see. It would help if Big Blue would start doing its job in their biggest annual game, but... I'm not sure how Kentucky-Tennessee affect's Ohio State's playoff hopes

  11. Seems like the Bears knew Fields would start all week last week, but Nagy wanted to keep it under wraps thus why it wasn't announced until Saturday. This week with Dalton closer to returning, he needs to have his starter named by Wednesday for game planning purposes
  12. edit: beaten
  13. Might be difficult for pitchers. What if the loaning team wears down the pitcher in the postseason knowing that they won't have him the following year a la Chapman in 2016?
  14. Yeah I was following the PBP and this made no sense to me at all, provided the description was accurate. It appeared to be a first down catch which would have kept the clock running. But instead we took the clock killing penalty. Correct? And what about the timeout we took on 3rd and 32 with 8 minutes left? What was the reason for that? Did he need to change personnel or something? Literally could have just called a QB kneel or some dumb run up the middle. Or the challenge in the 1st quarter on an interception that clearly and obviously hit the ground? Seems like giving Nagy more idle time from not calling plays is not exactly the benefit you'd hope it is.
  15. Clearly trying to keep ARob's numbers down for future salary negotiations.
  16. I’m pretty sure he played a lot actually On the topic of snap counts how many snaps did our $7m tight end play today?
  17. And now from a very reputable source
  18. What a game from Mooney today. I know people were expecting big things from him this year but given the bears inability to develop offensive players ever I reserved my judgement about how good he could be. Watching him get open as well as he did today and making difficult catches was a thing of beauty. No surprise that Fields seems to favor him over ARob.
  19. What a horsefeathering weirdo. Seriously, does he think being the offensive play caller is the only way to be a successful coach? Does he know Belichick doesn’t call plays on offense or defense or several other well regarded coaches? I give Nagy credit for keeping the team together and not folding after the losing streak last year. He has some good coachiness. The players play hard for him. I get it, he was brought it to fix the offense and he has failed at that. It’s a shot at your pride when Lazor is clearly better at doing what you were called in to do. It’s beneficial for the team for Nagy to not be calling plays. Yes, be involved in putting the game plan together. But for the sake of the team, just publicly admit that Lazor is the man on Sundays. This is exactly it. I’ve commented before on Nagy’s leadership abilities. The team mostly seems to like him and play hard for him. But the fact that he’s so hung up on playcalling to the point where he was willing to go down with the ship says a lot about his ego and his ability to make the best decisions for the team. If he steps away from playcalling completely I’m willing to have at least a little patience with him.
  20. More indications the knee injury isn’t the worst case scenario.
  21. Can we please lay Nagy’s fantasy about being an NFL play caller to rest now, Jeebus. His pride is taking a huge hit. Looks like Fields is going to start next week, but Nagy wouldn’t commit. What a horsefeathering weirdo. Seriously, does he think being the offensive play caller is the only way to be a successful coach? Does he know Belichick doesn’t call plays on offense or defense or several other well regarded coaches?
  22. It was obvious. Nagy had his play card but rarely looked at it. Also at one point Fields motioned up to the coaching box when he couldn’t hear the play call
