  1. Vuc is not a bad defender. He’s a slow defender and when playing with wings who can’t get over screens, a liability to your pick and roll defense. But he positions himself well, uses his body well, and alters shots without fouling. He’s also a solid defensive rebounder. I was discussing this with some friends last night...How is Coby going to get playing time? Who is giving up minutes? TBJ is the only guy I’d maybe like to see reduced minutes from. Maybe you can rest DD more and insert Coby in with the new bench mob to provide the instant offense. The bench mob has been great but I think they can benefit from more offense, especially because right now DeRozan is carrying the scoring load for that group. He will still play with the bench group but it will give him an opportunity to rest a bit more. I think Coby will fit very well with that group.
  2. Glad the Dodgers are out but hate the Braves being rewarded for building a stadium for white people the year that Georgia voted to suppress voter rights.
  3. I’m sure the refrain will be “you beat the Pistons and pelicans” and I’ll say “no we didn’t beat them, we destroyed them”
  4. So I knew that ESPN+ was streaming NHL games this year but didn’t realize they were exclusively broadcasting them without local TV coverage. For instance, Seattle fans that want to watch the first home game of their team’s existence will have to subscribe to ESPN+ to watch it. I just looked and there are 4 Blackhawks games this year that are like this. Man I hate the steaming TV era.
  5. I didn’t realize before this that they just do 2 point conversions starting in the 3rd OT. Neither did I. I don’t hate it other than both teams complete ineptitude as well as the switching sides of the field every OT
  6. Omg this is the funniest horsefeathers ever. Now 0-8 on 2 point conversion attempts
  7. 16-16 in 4OT. Only in the Big Ten…
  8. I think Zach might legitimately be a top 10 player in the league. His defense may never be better than average but if you can average 33 points on 18 FGA like he has so far this year he’s in that very elite class. The last stigma he needs to shed is that he’s a point scorer for a bad team. Wasn’t true last year as he was an extremely efficient scorer but if you can add a Vuc and DeRozan and you’re still averaging 28+ efficient points a game, that label is going to go away quickly
  9. Lol Bulls up 17 after 1 and Lavine hasn’t even scored yet
  10. What about Story's road splits are different than any other good Rockies hitter that moves teams? Most Rockies hitters struggle on the road, not because they are actually bad hitters that Coors makes good but because of the adjustment of playing a Coors and then playing at sea level. There are reasons to not love Story but I don't think his road splits are one of them. There might be a slight depression in stats but you can't look at his road numbers and assume that's the hitter he is on another team. 98 wRC+ away for his career is pretty bad. I get the adjustment thing but that still scares me. He also was pretty horrible this year for getting half his games in Coors, he turns 29 by opening day and a lot of his value is tied to defense which at 29 he probably doesn’t have a lot of premium SS years ahead of him on his next deal. Just would rather use the money on someone else, especially because he likely has a QO attached to him. I’d rather just sign a Jose Iglesias type on a cheap/short deal and let Nico get some reps at SS if we aren’t adding Correa or Seager. But again 98 wRC+ is not bad for a Rockies player. In fact, Story has the 9th best away wRC+ in Rockies history (min 400 PA). I'm not saying Story is my first choice, but he should be a quality hitter and provide strong defense for at least the first couple of years of the deal (and may retain some of that defensive value if moved off SS in the back half). I think he's worth going after if we don't go after/get Correa or Seager over in house options unless his market is ridiculous.

  12. Damn...I feel like I usually have a good feel for these things and I thought Colliton was 1-2 games away from being fired. I forgot that he's Stan's buddy which probably gives him extra protection.
  13. Way to stick it to the insurgents MLB!
  14. Davante Adams kind of beat him pretty solidly on Sunday. Not a ton of catches, but a couple big plays. But IIRC, they had to move him to the slot, in a position that Johnson isn't used to playing, in order to have success. Johnson shut him down on the outside whenever Adams was lined up there. All I know is that in his last 29 games, Davante has had 5 or less targets and 4 or less receptions in only 1 other game. He's a target and reception hog and we held him to 4 catches on 5 targets.
  15. TBH he was pretty invisible. But also have to remember he's still getting back into shape due to his injury, and this is the 2nd game he has played with most of these guys.
  16. Not gonna complain about any win. We know the shots are going to fall. The fact that the defensive stinginess and pressure carried over from the preseason is a huge positive. There’s no way they can bring that intensity all 82 games but it’s good to know that extra gear is there when the shots aren’t falling. Zach is trying to learn how to be a superstar on a team with other star quality players, when to make his runs etc, but when he took over in the 4th he was amazing. Ayo with a roller coaster game with several great plays and shots mixed with a few rookie nerve type errors but overall I liked the minutes he gave. DeRozan was ok but I didn’t like how he took 2 crunch time possessions away from the Bulls by holding onto the ball and taking contested jump shots early in the clock. He didn’t seem like a “my possession” type of player but maybe they are necessary to keep him in the flow of the game. I did like when he stayed in with the second unit and started taking control of things offensively. Bench doesn’t have a ton of scoring until Coby comes back so it’s good to have options with so many scorers in the starting lineup. That is probably the first Bulls game I’ve watched start to finish since Jimmy Butler was on the team. I enjoyed it

    NFL Week 7

  18. There's a large body of evidence to suggest a big offensive leap coinciding with an improving Fields is never going to happen with Nagy. Today' NFL is all about offense, seems 3/4 of league with various weaknesses and strengths can still move the ball and score points at will, it starts at the top. Honestly, is it Nagy's full part? The Bears couldn't get a consistently good offense with Lovie Smith. They couldn't get a consistently good offense with Marc Trestman. They couldn't get a consistently good offense with John Fox (lol). They haven't been able to get a consistently good offense with Nagy. Talent acquisition has to be a huge part of the problem here. The difference is that Trestman and Nagy are the only 2 that you mention that came in as offensive minded head coaches. Trestman managed to put a legitimately good offense on the field in his first season, possibly better than any other Bears offense since the early 90s plus his defense was bottom of the league so its not like they were scoring because the defense was putting them in good positions (though I guess you could say the defense being a sieve allowed them to have more offensive possessions to score their points). Nagy had one average offensive year which was largely aided by an elite defense that forced a crapload of turnovers and then its been worse every season.
  19. Those jobs probably aren't significantly better than PSU, especially when you consider what an incoherent mess the programs have been for a while (LSU's all-time 'lightning in a bottle' title notwithstanding). But Franklin's name keeps getting floated, I assume, because Franklin wants his name floated. I think its just the power of being a topish tier school in the SEC. Alabama is on its own tier, but LSU, Georgia, maybe Florida and soon Oklahoma are on that second tier of teams that can occasionally make the playoffs. Better recruiting, more money, more visibility. Penn State is in a fine spot as a program but in the Big Ten sharing a division with Ohio State they seem to top out as a team that can make the Big Ten title game once a decade (hey that's still better than Michigan!).
  20. Agreed. My interest is low until Stan is gone. They’re a bad organization with him in charge. Only reason i followed the game is because a friend gave me 4 free tickets on the 100 level. Colliton was booed during the home opener introductions lol
  21. On the way to another loss but at least they looked like the better team for large stretches Colliton has to be on thin ice
  22. Ugh...guess there is still time to be clear before Sunday but not promising
  23. Ultimately I don't care, but I thought I would read at least 1-2 "Actually what the Bulls are doing is smart" articles, surprised its almost all been very negative. I can't wait to see it in action. IIRC though, you were pretty high on last year's team too, or was that 2 years ago? :) iirc i expected the team two years ago to be around .500 but i didn't fully grasp just how much of an impact jim boylen's clownery would have - and i think they had a bunch of injuries. Boylen was the exact reason I couldn't allow myself to get excited about that team. The guy was a buffoon even without considering his punch clock shenanigans
