  1. We kind of got revenge for 2004 in 2008. The Cubs had already clinched the number 1 seed and went to Shea Stadium in its last year and split a series with the Mets the final week of the season. The Mets ended up missing the playoffs by 1 game.
  2. Good call. Realistically it will probably be a 2 headed monster approach, with them hoping they can get 5-6 quality innings from some combo of Assad/Rea/Soroka
  3. I don't know if I agree with that. None of them are great options, but they wouldn't start in the WC round anyways assuming with no Horton the rotation is some combo of Boyd, Shota and Taillon. But in the later rounds, I can see the argument of going with the pitcher with better stuff and giving him a short leash. I dunno though, I still really like Assad. It doesn't really make any sense but it seems like he's still keeping up that ridiculous strand rate and seems to generally put together solid outings more often than not. Again, I'd rather not have to choose between any of them for Game 4 of an NLDS/NLCS but I'd go for a high floor guy and hope the offense puts up runs on the other team's number 4 starter.
  4. There are so many concerns: -Health/potential rust from Tucker -Seiya has 2 HRs post ASB and doesn't seem to be snapping out of it -PCA also has stopped hitting HRs -Horton is injured -Boyd has bounced back a little but has struggled in Aug/Sept -Shota giving up a lot of HRs lately -Bullpen hierarchy -Shaw might disappear to help fight of ANTIFA or something -Will Craig play young guys like Mo Balla or go with a Willi Castro instead? Other teams have issues too but those are the things that concern me off the top of my head. can't really rank which one is the worst worry. Maybe Cade, but I think he'd only impact 5 innings of the WC round even if healthy
  5. Am I missing something with Wicks? I know he's been solid at Triple A but has pitched in 1 MLB game in the last month and has a 7.94 ERA with the Cubs this year. He might have figured some stuff out and I've always believed he could end up a quality rotation arm but he doesn't have enough of a track record this season at the major league level to go ahead of Shota, Boyd, Taillon, Assad and Rea in terms of starting a playoff game, much less an elimination game.
  6. Well if they are spending the time and energy of getting an MRI, I don't think it's ever completely precautionary. They suspected something could be wrong so they decided to do more testing.
  7. The Guardians are about to go 17-2 in their last 19. What a wild year in baseball
  8. Ugh the Kelly K hurts with PCA up vs LHP edit: nevermind, let’s go! 4 run barrier broken 2 night in a row
  9. Bases loaded 0 outs, just where they want us
  10. Cubs Magic Number over SD entering each day over the past 6 days: Friday: 4 Saturday: 4 Sunday: 4 Monday: 4 Tuesday: 4 Wednesday: 4
  11. Not sure if these are related to the issues above but when visiting NSBB the last couple of days, there is an ad that shows up that repeatedly plays a video in full screen mode....like its happened 3 times since I started typing this post. It looks like it's a Southwest ad. Makes the site completely unusable on desktop
  12. We're going to San Diego anyways (lol) but did anyone get lucky with the WC lottery? I've literally never gotten selected and I've entered into every lottery possible since they started doing it in 2008. The Cubs must hate me for using 300 windows to get through the virtual waiting room to get tickets to the 2007 NLDS before they implemented the lottery.
  13. Hopefully the games in SD are at night so the marine layer keeps Shota's flyballs from going out.
  14. Does that probability consider that the Cubs sort of don't care if they win, and the Brewers really want to ensure they don't play the Cubs in the NLDS so they're tanking to SD? (im being irrational, this is just super annoying)
  15. Oh man you thought they would still get a game at Wrigley after blowing this?
  16. Seriously im not enjoying this team at all. wtf is wrong with me, I should be but they are so depressing for a variety of reasons
  17. How do they probably still get #4 seed? They might since they have a small lead but the way they are playing right now it’s not particularly promising. From 5 games up with 8 games to go to 1.5 games up with 5 games to go.
  18. PCA had no shot there. They should have just taken an auto out if they weren’t gonna PH for him there
  19. The Cubs magic number over SD has been at 4 since Friday. When will it drop to 3, if ever?
  20. Also a little humorous that once again opponents don’t see to have trouble hitting HRs into the wind but the Cubs seemingly can’t.
