    I hate to be annoyingly negative but this not very enjoyable for a playoff team. For the past few weeks I’ve mostly been watching the scores and turning it on only when there’s a big moment.

    Why is what Seiya was doing unsustainable? His OPS is now 40 points lower than it was in 2023 and 2024 so if anything he’s giving us worse production. Even when he was on fire his OPS was only ~30 points higher than normal. I’m too lazy to look at more advanced stats but at this point it seems like he’s having a worse season than expected cumulatively. As for PCA, he had an OPS of .811 the last 50 games of last year so sitting at around .860 is a jump but it’s also his 2nd full season so what he was doing seemed somewhat reasonable even if it was a little higher than we dreamed. Certainly he’s not a .423 OPS guy which is what he hit in August. Kelly was clearly the outlier. We’re really missing Amaya missing almost the entire season except for 1 random game.

    Yeah I’m not necessarily upset about the 5-4. I just don’t like how the offense is playing and has been playing for awhile and closer is concerningly struggling. I guess every team has holes and flaws, just want to see them step up against a light schedule in time for the playoffs

    Looking like our 18th game scoring 4 runs or less in our last 21 games. there’s not really a ton of signs that the offense is going to break out of this. Not sure how to fix it at this point.

    Not getting it going offensively against a horrific team at Coors is not a great sign

    Boyd has allowed 18 ER in his last 5 starts. Definitely seems like he’s tiring out a bit

    I hate the WC round. Go back to 4 or 5 playoff teams IMO. I like a 1 game WC game more than a best of 3 series. I will obviously be excited about making the playoffs but won't feel like we're really in it unless we make the NLDS for the first time in 8 years.

    Just for fun, wind on the Cubs upcoming homestand: Monday: 7mph in from RF Tuesday: 2mph crosswind/out to CF (but negligible) Wednesday: 10mph crosswind Friday: 10mph crosswind/in from LF Saturday: 9mph in from LF Sunday: 5mph crosswind Obviously wind forecasts can change drastically more than a couple days out but given the cool weather in the area all next week I'd expect a lot of winds from the north meaning wind blowing in (shockingly)

    Fangraphs playoff odds now at 99.8%, behind only the Brewers (100.0%) and Phillies (100.0%) 11 of the 12 playoff spots are occupied by a team with at least 92.6% odds and the 12th spot has a team with 82.5% chance of making it (Seattle). The highest odds someone not in a playoff spot has of making the playoffs is the Royals at 15.2%. Here is how many games up on a playoff spot each current team is: Brewers - 16.5 Phillies - 11.0 Cubs - 10.0 Dodgers - 9.0 Tigers - 8.5 Padres - 8.0 Blue Jays - 8.0 Yankees - 6.0 Mets - 5.0 Astros - 5.0 Red Sox - 4.5 Mariners - 2.0
