  1. Would be kind of wild if the Dominican Republic didn’t make it out of group stage after all the hype about their roster.
  2. Mexico is up 10-3 in the 8th inning so looking like Mexico will advance and finish 1st if the US wins. Also keeps alive the small chance that the US can advance with a 1 run loss.
  3. i probably would too, but word is he tanked his pro day today BADLY. looked really out of shape. I keep reading about how he's an absolute monster some games and invisible other games, seems to have motivation issues. I have a feeling with today's news he is going to drop to mid-1st. Could be wrong but there are a lot of red flags surrounding him.
  4. Minor news here which likely isn't a surprise
  5. Oh also the Cowboys are releasing Zeke which is interesting. I doubt we'd want him though...hasnt been elite for a few years and his name will drive up the cost.
  6. I really suspect we're going to go DL with the 9th pick and I will be a floor boner about it. My best guess is that they will go Edge if Wilson or Murphy are available. If they aren't they trade down a few slots (would be very helpful if Levis is still around) and take one of the tackles.
  7. How about James Robinson as a 1B to Herbert? I think he could be had for real cheap, has put up good YPC numbers and good PFF rushing grades with some bad Jaguars teams (he was PFF's number 1 graded rusher in 2021). Had a terrible 4 games with the Jets admittedly but just a small sample and think he was coming off an injury. He catches passes, runs tough and has greatly improved as a pass blocker since his rookie year. I'm almost certain the Bears are going to draft an RB in the middle rounds as we discussed, but I think I'd like the Bears running game going into the season a lot more with a James Robinson on the roster.
  8. Agreed. While teams can definitely get by without investing a ton in the RB room, an elite RB who can read the defense, pass block, catch passes, make the right cuts more often than not can make a big impact. Herbert had 5.7 YPC but hasn't done so with a big workload. In fact I believe he left the 2 games he actually started with injuries. The Bears clearly don't trust him to pass block and had to have Ebner in there when Montgomery was out. In those cases, when Ebner is on the field the defense has one less weapon to account for. But if you don't have an elite RB, investing in the offensive line can definitely bridge the gap as we seen with other teams that recycle RBs frequently but are successful.
  9. Gio getting the call up for the March window, yay. Tyler Adams is missing the window with an injury
  10. Playmakers vs. offensive line is an interesting question. I have always been big on investing in both trenches, but I've also seen teams like the Bengals have one of the worst graded pass blocking OL's in football the last 2 years and still have a very dynamic offense because they invested heavily in drafting guys like Higgins and Chase and paying guys like Mixon. I suppose its different when you have a QB like Fields who can absolutely be an elite QB but is probably always going to hold the ball longer than most QBs. In that case, pass blocking OL/TE/RB is probably a must.
  11. Wait...what? [tweet] [/tweet] As for the tiebreaker, the US would only advance with a 1 run loss, as Colombia has allowed 2 more runs than the US in 2 additional innings (the US won a game in 7 innings, and the tiebreaker is RA / inning), so it would be best served with a win. horsefeathers, i looked at the wrong days scores and just saw GB win. My bad. Disregard my entire post lol. Win tomorrow
  12. With GB beating Mexico tonight the US is in great position to advance I think USA 2-1 CAN 2-1 GB 2-2 (!) COL 1-2 MEX 1-2 Canada plays Mexico, US plays Colombia, GB done In the event of a USA loss, there would be a guaranteed 3 team tie between USA, GB and COL. If MEX beat CAN we will have another 5 way tie. The US I think is leading that RA percentage metric, but i could be wrong. Either way they are likely in the top 2. So as long as they don’t give up a ton of runs tomorrow I think they’re ok. By virtue of GB finishing 2-2, any tie the US has at 2-2 will be with 3+ teams meaning H2H tiebreakers to Mexico and Colombia won’t come into play. Furthermore only Canada can finish 3-1 and we win the H2H tiebreaker over them so we’d win the group if both win I could be wrong though, all this horsefeathers is confusing.
  13. Outshot 42-29, win 6-3 The hockey gods are punishing this pathetic franchise Can’t wait until they draft 7th a couple times, get sick of losing and build a .500 club to get into the playoffs
  14. Not sure but the fact that they signed a RB seconds after Monty signed tells me they quickly executed their backup plan
  15. Apparently he’s a really strong pass blocker from what I’m reading? Im sure they’ll look for someone in the draft but they might be fine with Herbert and then Homer on some passing downs
  16. Uhhh Clearly going the draft route?
  17. Draft someone in the middle round that excels at pass blocking and the ability to catch passes and I think the Bears will be fine. I’m glad I kept Herbert on my fantasy roster as a potential keeper anticipating this.
  18. Bye Monty Miles Sanders, Austin Ekeler, draft?
  19. The account is subscribed to Twitter Blue, has an "MFL" logo, and already changed the tweet to say a deal hasn't been done. Step away from the keyboard for a while. chill dude, I'm just posting what I see and made it clear to take with a grain of salt.
  20. horsefeathers it, I opened up the can of worms, more twitter reporting https://twitter.com/_MLFootball/status/1635749389174964224 ML football has 50,000 followers and claims in their bio: "Independent NFL reporter approved by the NFL and NFLPA." which I realize anyone can just say and plus wtf does that mean? Obviously take with gigantic grain of salt and apologies in advance when this is way wrong.
  21. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2023/3/14/23639429/nfl-free-agency-scout-chicago-bears-1st-day-recap-insider-tremaine-edmunds-nate-davis-tj-edwards?utm_campaign=windycitygridiron&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter Some intel from Gabriel on some of the bigger names that the Bears were expected to go after yesterday but didn't land:
  22. Speaking of RBs, not a peep about Montgomery that I've seen. The Eagles signed Penny, which could just be running back depth, but could also mean that Miles Sanders will be elsewhere next year. A few names to watch...I don't think the Bears want Herbert to be a primary 3 down back heading into the season. Outside of those guys you are looking at names like Jamaal Williams (hmm...one of the best blocking backs, thrives in a timeshare, but a bit old), Mattison, Kareem Hunt, Fournette, D'Onta Foreman, Singletary, James Robinson, or the draft. Actually don't hate a Herbert/Jamaal Williams timeshare, though his 17 (!!!!) rushing TDs last year might make him overpriced even if his other metrics are only slightly above average. If the Bears value a back who is more of a receiving threat though, it may not work.
  23. I have decided that we're reached the "random internet rumor" portion of the offseason
  24. I wasn't going to say anything when I saw this thread but....yeah...
