  1. Fulmer in the 8th? Gonna go Boxberger in the 9th or Fulmer for 2 innings?
  2. Weird fact: 8 of the 12 Cubs runs this series have been on solo HRs.
  3. Was there a particular reason they removed Smyly after 81 pitches and getting weak contact for the first 2 outs of the inning? Just third time through the order stuff? Alzolay looked off from the start, even though obviously can’t blame him for Seiya losing a ball in the sun
  4. Belli on a 6 game hitting streak now (8-22, 2 HR, 2 2B, 2 BB). Moderate hot streak, good to see. As is seeing Wisdom continuing to crush them
  5. Barnes has been one of the worst at throwing out base stealers I believe. Think Seiya getting caught yesterday was the first CS for him this year. probably a mix of that, trying to steal extra runs from a great dodgers team, and getting more data on the rise in base stealing success with the new rules
  6. Believe that is the 2nd time in 14 games that the Cubs have not scored first.
  7. Not really sure but Marquee always does this on occasion. Not sure if JD just has extra days off built into his contract or if the Cubs just really love having random color guys come in on occasion
  8. Swanson struck out, now 8 in last 10 plate appearances. I didn’t realize he was a streaky hitter, I hate that. Reminds me of the feast or famine Cubs offenses of old. I of course didn’t expect him to hit .450 this season but I’d prefer a player who doesn’t have such large peaks and valleys. The good news is that he still brings value with his defense when slumping
  9. If money is no object I’m sitting front row right next to the Cubs dugout. But with money as a factor I’m definitely sitting in the closest section of the upper deck, somewhere on the infield. Often cheaper than the 200 level seats that are blocked by the awning and I think I’ve read that no stadiums upper deck is more on top of the action than Wrigley’s. Bleachers are always cool because there’s a different vibe out there, it’s more interactive and fun but somewhere around 2005 the Cubs realized the unique value of the bleachers and jacked up the prices. Still fun but I’d rather sit somewhere with a better view of the game on most occasions. Worst seats are of course the back rows of the 200 level where a seat that’s not even considered obstructed view can sometimes block virtually everything except for the actual field. Meaning if there’s a fly ball you just have to watch the outfielders and track their movements. I avoid those seats like the plague.
  10. The Cubs have had exactly 1 1-0 win in each of the last 4 seasons. So the bad news is tonight's game wasn't it. But the good news is, we're still due for a 1-0 win at some point
  11. I guess I'm just not sure who else you put out there. Hughes after he gets a few innings in him maybe. Cubs pen tends to lock in as the season goes on, I don't think there's a need to replace him just yet unless he was getting shelled and/or walking a bunch of people
  12. Probably could have used some runs when Happ and Seiya came up with the bases loaded and one out and both struck out on really bad pitches
  13. I thought about that...maybe just didnt want to put Fulmer in a position where he had to throw strikes?
  14. The 1-0 win is always so interesting. You spend the middle innings thinking that there's no way they can win 1-0 and you need to add on. You get into the 7th and 8th and you start to think well maybe we can actually pull this off with 1 run. But in this case, nope you couldnt.
  15. Maybe? I don't think he got hit that hard.... the double was off the end of his bat. The walkoff single is an out if its better positioned. The first out was somewhat hard and the single was well hit though not super hard. Somewhat a bad luck inning...its why you score more than 1 run to prevent things like this lol
  16. Cubs lose. Shitty loss with Urias on the mound tomorrw
  17. Dammit, of course they finally put a rally together in the 9th. Gonna have to buckle down to prevent losing it Edit: Oh and Heyward gets a chance to walk us off
  18. Damn that was disappointing with the 3 and 4 hitters due up. Can we really beat the Dodgers 1-0?
  19. Ugh, ugly end that that AB for Happ with the bases loaded and 1 out. The pitcher threw 5 straight balls, the first was called a strike, he took the next 2 and then swung at the next 2.
  20. Up to 0-8 with 7 K in his last 8 PA. He just all the sudden doesn’t look right at all out there.
  21. The one person who didn't seem committed to staying was Coby White. Not that he doesn't want to be back but he wants the opportunity to become a starter. As an RFA with the Bulls cap situation, its very possible a team makes an offer the Bulls cant match without going over the hard salary cap luxury tax.
