  1. I'll take the series win. This next stretch is going to be tough Next 3 stretches of the season: - Just started a stretch of 13 of 16 games against 2022 playoff teams (SEA, @ LAD, LAD, SD, with 3 @ Oak sandwiched in there) -10 of 10 games against bad teams (@ MIA, @ WAS, vs MIA) -22 of 25 games against 2022 playoff teams (STL, @ MIN, @ HOU, @ PHI, NYM, TB, @ SD with a series against the Reds sandwiched in there)
  2. There are some articles I just looked up for longest HRs hit at Wrigley. There is a rumored HR by Roberto Clemente that actually left the stadium having been hit just left of the scoreboard. Estimated 535 feet. Of course there's no video of it so hard to verify. There was also Kingman's HR that went approximately 520 ft and landed on Kenmore about 3 houses beyond the Waveland/Kenmore intersection.
  3. Gotta be one of the longest HRs hit at Wrigley in a long time. I can only think of 1-2 other HRs that landed in the CF bleachers and this one was several rows up.
  4. Geez, just getting mowed down quickly today. How was that 3 outs already?
  5. Clearly the scouting report is to swing early against Gilbert, but he's going to end up with a CG because of it.
  6. First 2 Cubs hitters reached...since then, 12 straight retired. Is this the part where I make the corny "should have saved some runs from last night for today" joke or wait a couple more innings?
  7. Ugh took 15 innings but Stroman finally gives up a run and is on pace to put up a crooked number
  8. Glad Bellinger got the ball in the air. I never expect good outcomes when he's up lol
  9. What would his contract have looked like on the open market? It seems like he's happy here and wanted to stay. Going into the FA market at 32 is not awful if he can keep playing like he has in recent years. Edit: Quick google search saw some speculation that a Happ contract would probably be somewhere between Andrew Bennitendi's 5/$75m deal ($15m AAV) and Castellanos' 5/$100m ($20m AAV). Seems like the Cubs probably wanted less years and were willing to go to just over $20m AAV to get the deal done.
  10. Really cool seeing them put it up on the video board as Happ was jogging to LF
  11. Very nice to see! Not too long of a commit for him to not have another potential payday at age 32 but long enough for him to be tied to the next competitive window (hopefully). I like.
  12. Dammit I was really hoping I got to this first becuase I really wanted to bump the "It's HAPPening" thread, but I guess we're not doing mega threads as much well so this is relevant for its own thread. I'm ok with this...not the worst thing in the world to lock up homegrown talent for a second contract as long as the dollar amount is not ridiculous. Would be interested to see the years though...presumably Jed doesn't want to lock anyone up for more than 5 years and Happ probably doesn't want to put himself in a position to be seeking one last contract at a declining age.
  13. Does Rios have options? Would hate to lose him when we're already a bit lacking in power.
  14. Wasnt expecting Swanson but still sucks to not see him in the lineup. He only missed 2 total games over the last 3 seasons. Hopefully he's not out long.
  15. The other shitty thing is, I believe reinjury chance is high if brought back too soon. Have to be patient with him returning. Sucks if it’s bad, Swanson played in 382 out of 384 games over the last 3 season. He’s been as durable as they come.
  16. Really hope Seiya has a breakout. Need to keep the offense afloat for awhile
  17. Ugh. That’s like what 6-8 weeks if it’s a tear?
  18. Someone on twitter commented that he has seen Swanson hold his shoulder after throws the last couple of games so maybe that? Really hope its not a sympathy injury with his wife.
  19. Hawks could have ended the night in position to have 25.5% chance of Bedard but instead they will be back down to 12.5%
  20. horsefeathering horsefeathers. Of course we get a gift and then completely blow it
  21. Of course Dansby has a mystery injury and leaves the game. Dammit
  22. Damn, ground rule double costs us a run. Guess I shouldn’t be greedy about only getting 8 runs that inning
