  1. Do we? I mean please go ahead and get swept in the next year but the Leafs annual first round flameout is too hilarious. Now I know why neutral fans would randomly cheer against the Cubs before we won the World Series
  2. Well I feel dumb for drinking the kool aid this afternoon 😅. I just did not have a very optimistic outlook on this years team, and I'm seeing some things that I believe are positive and sustainable. But of course the Cubs can just as easily go 2-5 in their next 7 and all the happy vibes go away. Long season with many peaks and valleys to go.
  3. Crazy that Lampard couldn't keep Chelsea in the Champions League
  4. We're kind of at that part of the season where its still super early to draw definitive conclusions, but we are starting to learn more about a team's identity. There have been plenty of teams historically that start off well and still end up losing 90+ games, but at least so far it feels like what the Cubs are doing is fairly sustainable. No, the offense probably isn't going to finish 3rd in the league in runs per game like it is now, but it looks like it will be better than last year. Plus there are guys like Morel and Mervis in Iowa that can provide reinforcements at positions of need (1B and DH). I had them in the 74-78 win range to start the season and maybe I'm just feeling good about the 7-3 stretch here but I'm bumping it up to 80-84 wins while allowing for the possibility that they might actually be playoff caliber.
  5. I was a bit worried that we were underrating them until I saw the Tony Kemp poster giveaway ad behind home plate. But seriously though its baseball so anything can happen the next 2 games.
  6. Well at the very least it makes sense that the 4th and 5th spots would be the highest because thats what happens when teams jump you. If one team jumps you and gets into the lottery, you're 4th. If 2 teams jump you, you're 5th. I don't quite understand why the Hawks couldn't fall to 6th. If none of the bottom 3 teams win a lottery spot, shouldn't that make the Hawks 6th after the Blue Jackets at 5 and Ducks at 4? Based on the posted odds it looks like they guarantee the worst team no worse than 3rd (do they just not hold the drawing for the 3rd pick in this situation?)
  7. I joked last week about the unlikeliness of an age 31 breakout season for Wisdom but umm....maybe?
  8. Feel like with 7 rounds and 60+ player rosters including practice squad, they need that long to scout and prepare for the draft? Just a guess. Plus the NFL prefers having FA before the draft which in many cases it affects their draft planning, whereas the NBA is reversed. But the real answer in my mind is that it keeps people talking about the NFL for longer. The NBA literally has the draft 1 week after the Finals have ended, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult for the NFL to have the draft in mid-March instead of at the end of April.
  9. 10 runs on 20 hits for the Cubs. Felt like a really long game for whatever reason. Nope 2 hours and 48 minutes..which I guess is long now
  10. Wisdom is on pace for 86 home runs this year. Is that good?
  11. It's like the 3rd or 4th most notable thing that's happened tonight haha
  12. What is this weird feeling I'm experiencing while watching Cubs baseball? Is...is it joy?
  13. Wisdom now leads the league in home runs. Yowza
  14. 7 of the 9 Cubs in the lineup have multiple hits tonight. Madrigal only has 1 and Mancini 0
  15. Which song is it? I barely pay attention to commercials anymore. One I do hear a ton now is that Queen song "Cool Cat" which Queen fans tend to call one of their worst. I guess its really catchy though.
  16. 17 hits for the Cubs, but only 6 runs lol. Funny because we had one inning where we were driving in RISP left and right but the rest of the game we've struggled. Lets see if we can convert in this situation.
  17. OK that was a really nice inning by Wesneski. At 76 pitches through 6...risk having him go another, or let him leave feeling good about himself?
  18. Is it just me or have umps been worse than ever this year? Seems like a consistent amount of bad calls, many blatantly bad.
  19. I believe in him enough to let him work through it, but something has to give between Mancini and Hosmer at 1B.
  20. Mancini's really having a rough go of it right now.
  21. Look he's definitely still struggling with a few things but getting the 5 run lead has allowed Wesneski to calm down a bit and just pitch and the results have been better. Seemed to lose his command in a bit in the 5th but pitched out of it.
  22. Funny enough, that hit was only a HR at 3/30 parks and not Wrigley:
  23. They may be better but they're still the Cubs so of course they have to load the bases with 0 outs and not score lol.
  24. wtf Madrigal. Should be benched for running that stop sign.
